I think the thing with the "core bot" idea is... that could be fine? The issue isn't just that it's the core-with-armor sort of Magnus, which isn't how he was in FoC, but also that the figure comes off as some half-assed, low-effort "oh and here's Magnus, I guess." If this figure were a new mold, or extensive retool, that could transform into a great looking alt mode without parts-forming, then it wouldn't matter so much whether or not in went the "bot in armor" route.

But that's not what this is (or how this looks, if you want to be pedantic). This is, as we have seen so far, a repainted (and probably not all-white) Jupiter with a set of extra armor parts and different weapons. Which, admittedly, can kind of pass for the bot mode. I mean, it's not perfect, but I can certainly tell it's evoking FoC Magnus. But the alt mode looks to be just assembling the alt mode (and the hammer) into a shell that goes over Jupiter's alt mode. Heck, even many of the 3rd Party add-on kits for official Transformers look more cohesive than that.

So if you're a bot-only kind of collector, I can see how this would be good enough, but I actually transform my Transformers.

 

Indeed. Too bad the Takara deco version couldn't match the colors on the Tak fig correctly.

 

I wonder if PX is going to do a white Magnus with blue legs or a deco more like has/tak FOC Magnus
since it looks like the armor covers most of the chest area and arms looks like they can go either way

 

I don't mind that this is an add-on... but the price is way too high.

 

Personally I think what Planet X did with Ultra Magnus is the best option. They give people options on how they want to display the figure, whether they want to go with FOC toy look or the FOC in game design. Ultra Magnus having armor is not an unprecedented concept and it just works.

It is a full figure with plug on parts, not just an add-on kit (You may know but I wasn't sure with your wording)

how is it not an add on? can see in vehicle mode chest is in back, the feet are on the arms, the front of the car folds up into the bottoms/ heels of feet front of the legs are on the top pegged to the arms............ if this is not a add on, its going to be one shitty transformation

 

If it's just an add-on, then you're not getting the actual core robot. It's already been discussed that it is basically Jupiter (recolored) underneath with armor on. It's not merely an add-on.

Yeah they suck at communicating, but their no Fansproject (thank Primus). Regarding their horrible instructions, I gave up on them with that. Now I considering it part of their MO. In fact, if a day ever comes where there is a PX fig with at least decent intructions, I'm calling KO    

You may want to go back and check their FB page. It did take them a few days, but they did address this matter.

No secret that they could use better communication. I think in part it is a language barrier (I still don't get why those foreign companies still have a difficult time with this). I also think (and this is just pure speculation) they run a skeleton crew and do not have enough employees to compliment a fully dedicated communications dept.

Regarding listening to our feedback? Try submitting it directly to them via FB Messinger. You have to be a tad persistent (just not obnoxiously persistent) and patient with their response. It is how I scored conversations with them and Shapeshift Inc.

 

I don't like how it's bigger than FOC Megatron. Ultra Magnus should be shorter than Megatron.

 

Marginal at best. Also remember this fits the FoC/WfC aesthetic/genre, not G1 (which, IIRC, was all taller than Megs/Galvatron here too).

There’s nothing wrong with people (collectors)
being “obsessed” with wanting things as accurate as possible. Just like there’s nothing wrong with those who don’t care.

 

What's accurate about FoC Magnus' size? There is no actual reference, just derivatives from the game's multiplayer feature.

And for Christ's sake, the fig is only slightly taller than FoC Megs' fig. People need to stop having a friggin cow over this.
