Thanks for the info everyone. I've decided not to get Double Punch since I don't want to step into the Japanese market/rabbit hole.

That said, if anyone is in the Buffalo/Western New York area, the store Niagara Emporium in the Eastern Hills mall has Double Punch and a handful of other Beast Wars figures for sale. I didn't realize it at first but there is a black Big Convoy next to Double Punch too. I thought it was just an overpriced Big Convoy when I first stopped by this case. Seems like an OK deal judging from ebay prices. Generally the prices for everything aren't cheap, but I hear you can try to haggle them down a bit.

The reality is our best chance at any new Beast Wars stuff is through repaints of existing figures (LioConvoy, Convobat, etc).

HI all just back from my local comic book shop who have a new store and bought a few highly needed figures for my collection. Also a figure came in the post, it’s the ko version of the 10th anniversary megatron which I can say I’m quite happy with :D  I remember selling the shop my collection a few years back and I went up and found a couple of my figures still in plastic baggies. One of them was my custom waspinator and the other was my custom tm2 megatron. They lied and said that they were sold (they were just being lazy because they didn’t want to go look downstairs through all there stock) so these figures where in the new display cases and I new straight away they were mine.

Miserable fuckin' reality if you ask me.

Wish beast TFs would make a proper comeback. Problem is, kids don't like animals because animals represent physical activity. :lol  Cars and trucks are cool because it means not having to walk anywhere.

I mean, the thing with beast molds will *always* be how they can be best reused.

So either the BW figure gets repurposed as a G1 beast or vice versa.

Like, I'm totally serious that Predaking being a titan class figure killed the best chance at a new Magnaboss.

This is why I can't help feeling a bit disappointed with POTP. With the lack of Beast Combiners in CW and the likes of Apeface and Snapdragon missing from TR, it seemed like all the big G1 beasts were being saved for something. The mind raced with dreams of an entire line with an overarching beast theme, with robotic beasts alongside organic ones. Dinobots, Predacons, Pretenders, Beast Wars...

Instead, from what we've seen of POTP thus far, it seems like a bit of a waste.

The question of course becomes just how does BW fit into the future of toy lines? I put together a bit of an idea for a BW-centric line, but to be honest, the only way I think we'd see BW characters used is in some kind of Beast VS Machines line. We then only have half a line to play with in order to get all the characters we'd like, but then the notion of redeco/retool potential comes to the fore. The beasts have to pull their weight. The good news is that Cheetor/Tigatron, Tarantulas/Blackarachnia, Dinobot/Grimlock and Terrorsaur/Lazorbeak could do the majority of the heavy-lifting. Scorponok and Inferno may miss out however.

Reading through this thread makes me weep as all it does is remind me how impossible a new beast TF line is. I want a yellow mongoose TF :(

    Question,

Hopefully with MP Dinobot's release being announced soon, is it worth hunting for Botcon 2006 Dinobot?

I've owned the mold in the form of Longrack and it's a decent transformer, the colours look to really match the CGI well so that feeling of recognition of the character when you get it might be worth it too but for me I'd just wait for the Masterpiece unless you're looking to round out a Dinobot collection.

I've generally found that tracking down the 2006 box set figures separately is difficult. That said. Once someone does have a set they're willing to split Primal is usually the most expensive with the others not so much. I mean they're typically still north of $100 but if it's the only one you're after it beats paying so much up front for the box.
That said. Since I recorded that video I've heard of a case of GPS on that figure. So handle with care when or if you do get it.

Generations got out of the blocks well and built up a massive lead, but Masterpiece has been steadily making up ground.

This is going to be one hell of a (slow) race.

We'll indeed, the last time they did was the Beast Era. Since then it's been reruns, reimagining, reboots and redesigns of the same old characters, stories, concepts and designs. There really hasn't been anything truly 'new' since Beast Machines ended and Transtech got canceled.

I remember reading a while back some rumor of an Amazon exclusive subline to POTP with all BW characters. I didn't really believe it back then. And I still don't believe it. But for those of you with a little more faith and optimism. There's that. I wish we would get some of the Eukarians as we've seen them in the comics. Especially Tigatron. I've really been wanting his IDW design in toy form.

What added fuel to that fire was the mystery of the Beast Wars logo on the Siege on Cybertron boxset...
