Sadly the message they'll hear is 'people don't want battlefront' after all, it is EA.

Oh I'm buying battlefront 2. I just won't buy any loot boxes. The campaign will likely still be playable. But if not enough people buy battlefront and EA stops making it I'm ok with that too. I wouldn't put it past them after shutting down Visceral.

I'm not sure he's worth $300, but the two bots together are dope and everyone should have the opportunity to play with them.

But why so pricey? Is this potentially to be that rare?

I think this is more of a "Is it worth getting this for me?" kinda situation, considering that the price is higher and it's not just another Deluxe or Voyager you can easily recommend knowing most people can afford it.

Like, I've seen people recommending these figures all the time, I've seen video reviews and they look so fun to mess with, but 190€ + shipping and import fees is a tough pill to swallow.

I do however like that this is the complete box, with improved paint-schemes and new voice clips. That and the fact that it is a new production run makes it much more desirable to me than getting them off of eBay.

I have pre-ordered the set at HLJ where I can easily cancel it and remain with the thought that if March is not that heavy (it isn't so far from the Transformers side) and there's nothing important in life to spend it on I'm getting it. I can see why the price point would turn you off though, that's certainly not an easy sum to spend.

Smaller production run (as opposed to the originals), they apparently had to repair the molds, new voice-clips for which they hired the original voice actor. That and of course these figures just have more beef and heft to them and thus involve more plastic than modern figures.

And probably a good ol' dose of "Can we charge it and get away with it?".

It'e the raise in oil prices in the last 17 years, same reason figures are getting more hollow, plastic is expensive, however Omega Prime is amazing, two of the best molds of the last twenty years imo, but 300 us for them is really pushing it, you might be better off to look over the aftermarket first.

Its not just the price of oil, its also the price of labor

Remember, they moved from China to Vietnam to save money, and the wage in Vietnam is still higher that it was in China when these originally came out

Really? I didn't know that, I thought they moved to Vietnam for the opposite reason, show what I know :p

yeah, i'll say Fire Convoy is one of the greatest molds ever made for as long as i care about the hobby, but DANG, $300? i think i Paid... $75? each to import him and Magnus in 2000 (i know for sure the car bros were $25 then) are they worth double that new??? Hard to say...

Part of the problem is that even if you say, yeah, I'll take Fire Convoy for $150, it's hard to say God Magnus is worth the other $150.

Magnus is a terrific car carrier, and it's neat you can combine them, but he's not 1/10 the figure Fire Convoy is.

Have to agree there. There was a bit of buyer's remorse when I first got him. Happily, getting hold of his 'sibling' fixed that.

Several import retailers are selling this Encore duo for $220, making them $110 a piece before taxes and shipping. $300 total or $150 a piece seems a bit incongruous to me unless you're taking taxes and shipping into account?

$110 each sounds just about right for this set.

Yeah I preordered a set from Amazon JP and I think it was around ~$190. Shipping is killing me, but $190 for that set seems pretty reasonable to me.

Still the same deal. Don't get me wrong. For me, personally, if I didn't have these figures, I'd spend that to get them. But Magnus is WAAAAAAAAY harder to justify the price for. He doesn't have the same level of amazing engineering and articulation Fire Convoy has. Not by a long shot.

I mean, I've said it before many times: if they ever wanted to do an MP Fire Convoy, I'd have a hard time imagining what they could improve from the original figure. Not so with God Magnus. I can think of a TON of things that could and would be improved.
