The price point for the Fire Convoy/God Magnus Encore is unfortunate in the extreme. But on the other hand... I paid about that much for the Buster Optimus/Jetfire boxset, and if I owned none of the four figures, I think I'd rather have Fire Convoy and God Magnus, to be honest.

Yes, BBTS was where I started, then went to Robot Kingdom before their international shipping prices became astronomical, then went to TFSource which is great and they have a great rewards program but stuff sells out there fast in some cases where I want something in particular. Hence why I'll check eBay. As for that, yes it works quite well. Remember, there aren't any "official" places to buy products and eBay and Paypal offer great protection for buyers...often to where sellers can really get screwed. Additionally, you don't need to have a Paypal account to buy, you can use your credit or debit card number through PayPal and process it the same way any site would where you'd use your credit or debit card. Honestly there's really not any reason to not use them as a resource for buying...not for selling so much anymore. Still, whatever you like is fine.

BBTS still accept credit cards, though. As for PayPal credit card transactions, that all depends on the seller's account. Not all of them have turned that on, so when I use that option, PayPal then forces me to create an account to pay by credit card, which defeats the purpose. Sirtoys got it right and so I can pay by credit card via Paypal. However, phrase be aware that outside the USA, Paypal is not universally recognised nor trusted, and the same goes for eBay. Life is too short for me to bother with eBay scams, so I'm happy using BBTS, Sirtoys, Amazon Japan and a few other sites that take credit cards.

 

It would be cool if there was a North American release of the God Fire Convoy set that had quotes from the english dub of the show. I can imagine Ultra Magnus yelling "Oh yeah! Don't mess with me!" But it'll most likely never happen.

It's presumptious to say they are lashing out. Perhaps they meant that they want Takara to release it, and other such toys in a BETTER, more AFFORDABLE way? Sometimes, we need to vote with our wallets, otherwise companies will only get worse.

Look at "loot boxes" and "Pay to Win" in video games. First, these were a cancer in mobile gaming and now they have spread to expensive, full-priced console games.

 

They make characters from those years all the time.

Fire Convoy even fits in with the PotP Leader gimmick and fills the Optimus Prime quota, it's very possible we'll see a new version soon.

 

My counter argument to this is always 'how many figures come out in generations in a given year? How many of those are G1/2?'

I agree completely, it's a perfect time for him, all of the UT Primes, Star Saber and Ginrai ironically, but I see a 5% chance of Hasbro doing any of those in potp. I'm hoping that in the next few years we get an 'everything else' theme for Generations.

 

Even adjusted for inflation this is too big a pill to swallow. Pass.

 

A bit off topic but I don't think we have seen the worst of loot boxes yet. People complain about it in Shadow of War but that intance is heavily exaggerated. Its gonna be Battlefront 2 and more that are gonma really cause outrage.

Have loot boxes entered the P2W Transformers, so-called, ahem, "games" on mobile, yet? One day, that's how we will have to buy REAL toys. We will have to buy multiple, blind-bagged collections of toy parts to eventually assemble any given toy, and will have to pay even more to toy companies for proprietary screws to assemble them. Standard shipping will be 1 month pr item (all items sold and shipped individually), with a "premium post" system available members (100 gold for one month!).

Then, we will BEG for BOTCON and OTFCC to come back...
