This is mildly interesting. Did the TLK team just not think this would be an issue and not bother to contact them? Was it only approved for use in the actual film but not home media? I guess we'll never know.

 

I was probably a case for licensing in the film, but not licensed in additional media.

 

The red cross is a protected symbol under international humanitarian law and national laws. Any use that is not expressly authorized by the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols constitutes a misuse of the emblem, and use of it by unauthorized persons is strictly forbidden.

So, yes, they DID raise a fuss. This is also exactly why Takara weren't allowed to include red crosses on MP Ratchet in specific relation to him being an ambulance.

 

But MP Ratchet has Red Cross stickers that feature small foating squares at each corner, that you can optionally cutaway or paint over. They knew what they were doing.

 

Hmmm. Maybe they could help more people if they spent less time griping about games and movies using the symbol.

Yes, nothing says good-will like censoring someone else when they haven't done anything wrong. (not like there's a scene of Hound spitting on the red cross or something. And Ratchet? Give me a break.)
