    Haha, good one.

Oh... kay. uploading these pics crashed Firefox then. Challenge is a proper licensed item... Scalextric Bumblebee or Barricade, they were both in the same slot car set so either will do.

For a Micro Scalextric set (the cars are 1:64 scale) it's pretty darn big.

And yes, they do transform! Kinda.

    Tomorrows challenge... will be easier.

I wish Hasbro would reissue him with a more storage. I would totally use one.

And an actual screen in his chest, that'd be awesome. Anyways I don't have one, the closest I have is the white Soundwave.

Also, the Legion Megatron is really good. Well worth opening IMO.

An updated Soundwave would be excellent, just like Legion Megs :)

After five years, still the only G1 Soundwave we have at this scale... :(

Now, since the Hasbro release has already been played, I'm gonna have to insist on TakaraTomy's version this time:

    You guys are correct:

    stamped.jpg

The figure is stamped Hasbro, confirming there's no difference whatsoever to The Last Knight TakaraTomy releases.

Thus, not being a unique challenge after all, I hereby rescind that challenge and replace it with this:

    spartacus.jpg

    Spark Toys ST-02, "Spartacus."

    The_War_Within.jpg

Ripped from the pages of The War Within.

Well, I was hoping that awesome third-party Megatron would get more attention -- particularly from those of you who remember the Titanium Series abomination -- but perhaps you guys are more keen on Cosmos...?

    Klaatu.jpg

Easily X-Transbots' highest-quality release yet, Master Mini Series MM-IX, "Klaatu."

    MP_Cosmos.jpg

Scales perfectly with all his Season 2 Masterpiece brethren...

    MP_rejects.jpg

...all of which remain completely ignored by TakaraTomy. :redface2:

That does look pretty good. I just don’t think I have high enough of an interest is cosmos. Then it’s crazy how all the 3rd party companies keep making their version of the same character. You said their best quality yet! You think better than Andras (Scourge)? I’d say other than the foot transformation which is tricky, not fragile, that figure is excellent quality wise.

Oh yes, I'd say "Klaatu" is even higher-quality than "Andras." Easier to transform, too. :thumb

If by crazy you mean "recklessly irresponsible," I heartily agree. The inevitable result is choice paralysis, and it's severely diminished my third-party purchases this year.

For example, if ToyWorld's "Spaceracer" was our only MP option for Cosmos, I'm sure he'd be a big seller and we'd be satisfied:

...but by producing the almost-identical-yet-completely-different "Klaatu," X-Transbots and ToyWorld are forcing us to choose between them, and effectively cutting their market in half. The immediate impact is a 60% loss of sales for either product, because there's always a significant number of consumers that -- when faced with a difficult choice -- will simply not bother buying at all. It's idiotic and, in a tiny niche market like this, tantamount to financial suicide.

Furthermore, many who do choose one or the other are less likely to be satisfied with the purchase, nitpicking perceived flaws in the figure as it compares to the other option(s), and never quite sure they've made the right decision. Less consumer satisfaction leads to less repeat customers, too. These are basic business precepts -- Economics 101, as it were -- and while there are obviously several genius-level intellects designing these brilliant figures, there are also grade-A morons making some of the financial decisions. It's infuriating and heartbreaking at the same time.

It's like, I love what DX9 produces -- and "Gabriel" looks hella cartoon-accurate -- but why the hell have they put it into production when we all know FansToys is already doing "Terminus Giganticus?" This market ain't big enough for two MP Omega Supremes! How the hell are we supposed to choose?

Fans love to say "more options for us as customers, and competition keeps prices low! Win-win!" but the truth is, we're rapidly heading for a third-party implosion. This constant competition is terrible for the market, and it just can't last. The writing's on the wall. :(

Well, for me, anyway, I tend to go with Fans Toys for MP-alikes I'm interested in, unless they don't have a version available. (which is fine) It is a little disturbing to see so many of these companies trying to vie for the "Masterpiece style" market and put out the same characters in a short amount of time from each other. Perhaps it's better when these companies don't announce what they're doing, at least until it's nearly ready to go. Or maybe they should communicate with each other what they plan to do and make plans to not be stepping over each others' toes as much.

I think that's been the problem, actually... too many people conspiring in secret, unintentionally duplicating each others' work.

Ideally, yeah... but in my experience with Hong Kong producers, they're much too wary of each other to communicate openly. The potential for competition (especially from knock-offs) keeps them from cooperating in trust.

The company I'm working with at the moment is particularly cautious around the third-party Transformers market, and don't want their product associated with Transformers simply because they don't trust third-party manufacturers. They're very particular about what photos I'm allowed to post, and when they want them posted... o_O
