Ratchet has gotten a lot of voices over the years, but which 3 are your favorite? EDIT: Can a mod replace Starscream in the poll to Ratchet? Thanks!
Messick, gotta love Papa Smurf-bot. ^^ I truly do enjoy Bayverse Ratchet. Combs is impo, the best Ratchet. He truly does sound the part of a grumpy, overworked, but secretly bleeding heart medic.
I think all the Ratchets occupy a similar creative space (i don't know much about the video game ones though), but i think Prime Ratchet is the best defined and acted. As for Starscream, Chris Latta all the way!
Seconded. Movie Ratchet deserved more screen time. He wasn't a soundbite spewing, generic, supposed to be funny, tough, or both, Autobot like Crosshairs, Hound, Ironhide, the Twins and Jazz. He actually came across as intelligent and thoughtful. Pity he, Arcee, Mirage (I'm not acknowledging the name Dino) and Sideswipe were killed off. They didn't have cosplay bot modes like Hound, Drift and Crosshairs. I also liked Messick's take charge, no nonsense Ratchet.
If there's one thing Combs can do, it's act. Ratchet is very refreshing compared to his other roles. A shame he's usually typecasted as villains. On a side note, have any of these guys actually voiced Starscream before?
Movie Ratchet had a warmth, an intelligence provided by Foxworth. He sounded like the friendly great uncle who's always happy to give you a hand. Ratchet never got much screen time but he was my favorite. Corey Burton takes home the prize for voicing such a nuanced, developed character. A forgotten, traumatized war vet who comes to love his team. That crotchety voice Burton has sounds creakier than the most unstable joints and it just plain works. Jeffrey Combs is superbly talented as well and his Ratchet in particular is closest to my heart. Yes, he had an overused running gag and often was just exposition, but Combs is such a brilliant actor. He's snarky, pompous, emotional. His outburst in Stronger Faster always gets my blood boiling, and his despair over the destruction of the Omega Lock is heartbreaking. Fred Tatasciore does a really nice Ratchet in WFC/FOC. He sounds dignified, albeit gruff, and confident. I like the almost Tarkin-esque accent Ratchet had. It really fit the brainiac and I hear it when I read IDW Ratchet.
