OS KO with G1 head or bust  

 

I'm thinking of buying this:
Make Toys - Citizen Set 01 With Trench Covers or a set of WST.

 

Yeah I've always considered getting those but I assumed that they would make more (hence the name Set 01) but they didn't. I wanted some more autobots and not just a bunch of constructicons and one random g2 optimus.

 

Fansproject assaulter came with some little guys on a sprue just like the citizen set .. they're just vehicles but they're pretty dope.. and one of them is steelcore!

 

There’s also the micro Aerialbots that come with Titans Return Broadside.

 

It seemed like such a steal untill i realized shipping would be $80 more but then I was too far along that I felt like I couldn't turn back. I had to complete that purchase.
My kid's had this on his want list for a while. Guess who's gonna have an awesome birthday..

Are there any sweet upgrade kits for this guy? I have had the white and red gun dudes from either Perfect Effect or FansProject that go with the HasTak one set aside for him for a while. Is there anything else out there?

The citizen set is the only official upgrade for Utopia. Iron Factory made a set that you could use if you are ok with them being a little big for it. It’s called IF-EX02 Turrets and Manacle. The Hasbro Titan Masters actually scale pretty well with Utopia IMO.

 

Yeah, that's who I meant I had. He doesn't worry too much about scale.

Toyhax has a great sticker set it looks like.

 

He will love it. As a bonus, you can actually attach all the pieces from one of the sprues to the black ramp, along with the spare energon cubes, and they can stay there in all modes and throughout transformation. Also, if you got the one with the citizen set + trench covers, you will likely get two sets of covers, as one comes with the figure, allowing you to cover even more screw holes.

 

That's good to hear. I'll be looking for those when it comes since that's the set I purchased.

Seeing him in review videos with size comparisons to Hasbro's Generations one makes me wish he were closer to that size, but he's about the same size as Pandinus, right? My son has him and uses his base mode with his legends guys and it works well.

 

He's a little taller than Pandinus but less bulky.

 

This or their own version of Omega

 

I felt that the size was perfect for him, cause he feels much more solid and thicker than genplex. Anyway, isn't there an upscaled KO of this guy somewhere?

Those are just over 20 inch tall figures aren't they? Not 24. No figure has been over 22 yet is my understanding. I honestly find 20 itself to be a bit much, I'd be happy with most big bots around 18 but ehhh between Zeta and the Omega's we're gonna end up with quite a few 20s eventually.

 

May want to recheck bud, While I don’t have ft20, yet from all accounts he’s larger than plex. They are certainly not 20" figures

That alone is the main reason I won't by Utopia, despite me loving the design. I agree with the previous poster that the market for "citybots" of this size is just not there like it used to be. Most have moved up. While neither good nor bad, it just is.

 

Sigh, poor phrasing. I didn't mean they were literally only 20, I meant to say only just over 20. Neither metro or max are 24. I don't own Giganticus and I assumed he was of similar size.

TFsource says he's only 21.4.

 

Plex is 23.5 to the antenna (pretty close to 24  ). Looking at comparison shots TG is more than half an inch taller than plex to the head. His wings are significantly taller than that. IIRC it was like 25 and some change to the wings. Should have him in a few days so I can check.

I think that tfsource measurement is before his thigh lengthening. FT ended up using longer thighs to give it better proportions.

 

Unfortunately, no. There was a company working on it for a while, but it apparently fell through. I know TF-Direct cancelled all preorders for the thing and removed the listing a while back.

It's a shame; I really love the look of Utopia, but he's only slightly larger than CW Devastator or my OS Feral Rex and Warbotron, and the price on him is just way more than I could justify. If he were cheaper I'd consider getting him anyway though, just because he looks good.
