I just had a thought on these comments you made
How do we know that Hasbro wanted to "clear the table" and to sell new toys as you put it?

If so it seems they would be cutting off their own ears to spite their face because they were still selling Those toys you claimed died that year

the protectabots and aerialbots were both in the headmaster catalog for the toys of that years release

The 1986 "movie" catalog also featured Insecticons and Starscream, both of whom are dispatched.

The only reason it wasn't conclusive before is because they showed up again. The Protectobots and 3/5 of the Aerialbots do not, although I seriously question Silverbolt as I'm unsure if he's an animation error or actually him standing next to a cloned Ultra Magnus.

I'm not referencing them...I'm referencing the pile of dead bodies they're rising OUT of.

Look, when Spike recharges Cybertron via the key, he recharges it and the Autobots. This is a recharge...it's not a magical healing "thing". If Transformers were mortally wounded beyond repair, they are dead in the same way as plugging the power cord into the wall on a computer with a fried hard drive. Power doesn't magically make things heal. Otherwise, Ratchet and First Aid wouldn't have their functions.

1]the insecticons are debatable since its unknow if the intent was to kill the originals or clones

    2) Starscream: that's because they always intended on bringing starscream back for a few stories unlike optimus

again not seeing a character again is by no way any indication that they died

And Magnus spoke so i doubt its a clone

by your logic silverbolt got killed twice
look at the pic above again
They are rising from debris of buildings not piles of bodies
There was no mention of any mortally wounded characters

No one had big gaping holes in them or anything.

And the power in question war being routed from the plasma energy chamber , the forge that created the first tf bodies, and vector sigma, the thing that gave all transformers life

    Both seem magical to me
And even if not magical certainly capable of healing wounds
If wreck-gars people can save Magnus and springer is can't see why these life giving items can not

those are not buildings but that's not the part of the story you were talking about

here let me remind you of what you said

As you can see you were talking about after the recharge not before it and every body we sore after the recharge moved

The other bodies in though seems that you pointed out we're not shown again and again as I keep telling you not seeing something is not an indication of death

Okay. No matter of debate is going to change our viewpoints.

I'm going by what we saw. Death of Autobots on a wholesale scale...combiner bots actually had holes and smoke coming out of them ala Brawn in 1986. This is different from running out of energy, in which some did that as well after their power cores were removed. These particular guys stayed dead as they were never seen again.

You believe once Cybertron was recharged, not only were the characters who were not badly damaged (Arcee, Magnus, Blurr, etc.) were recharged (this we agree on), but characters who were wholesale slaughtered (Superion parts, all of Defensor) were magically healed by the recharge and every Autobot ever lived happily ever after, even though only a handful are shown celebrating at the end, including some animation errors.

Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Sure we can agree to disagree he but I have to say this

You are NOT going by what we were shown, you are going by your personal perception and possibly even your own desires and opinions

Yes some of the combiner bots had smoke coming from them but none of them had any holes ala Brawn in the film or of any kind, and as has been said many times by me and others not seeing a character ever again is nowhere any indication that they died

there is just absolutely no conclusive evidence that there thing that fits the definition of a, "wholesale slaughter" as you put it, and as a matter of fact of the pictures you put up with piles of bodies they were all generics aside from ultra Magnus and we know he survived

To add to what I said a bit above you are imagining Kohls similar to that of Brawn

I'm going to post a few pictures right underneath but you'll see that in one hotshot gets hit by weapons fire but we see no holes on the smoke

in an other picture two of the members of the team also get shot we see no holes but smoke

In an or there pic The last two members don't even get hit but what does fire directly things just explode near them and yet they fall to the ground

And since I expect you to make a statement like "where there is smoke there must be a hole " in the last picture you'll see silver bowl smoking and the whole whatsoever

You might also note that the smoke is coming from a wing which is where he was hit hardly a kill shot even with a hole, if there was one to speak of

Oh and finally if you go back to the first episode you'll see that 4 of the aerialbots were hit or attacked in the wing areas by six-shot, and the last was injured in the rear wing area

And as I pointed out silverbolt survived that attack to be later shut down by blastoff in the third episode in and around the same wing area

Look, forget the catalogues, ok? They prove nothing. The movie was released in Autumn 1986. Season 2 of the cartoon was still on air most of that year. What’s the problem in having Starscream and the Insecticons available on shelves in a year where they feature heavily in the cartoons and are only written out at the end of the year?

The more pertinent question is this: if so many Autobots have died, why are the Autobots celebrating and jumping for joy at the end of the story?

OK, they should be relieved that they saved the day, but surely their mood would have been tempered, more somber given these alleged mass deaths?

Compare this with the end of “Dark Awakening” in season 3. The Quintesson plot is foiled but the overriding emotion at the end is a sense of relief mixed with sorrow, because Prime has died again. The Autobots don’t whoop or holler with joy, because despite the victory, they suffered a terrible loss.

I put it to anyone on this thread: explain to me how any Autobot could seriously contemplate jumping and cheering in the aftermath of an Autobot massacre?

It’s like Wrath of Khan, you know? Captain Kirk wins but he doesn’t celebrate because his son and best friend have both been killed. Victory is cool and all, but when it comes at a heavy price you don’t start jumping for joy as if you haven’t a care in the world.

The only logical conclusion would be that a) the Autobots are all unfeeling bastards, or b) all the wounded Autobots were revived by the Plasma Energy intake.

I only brought up the catalog because Many seem to like to use that as an example or a guideline as to who died or who became who

Also Kirks son did not die in the wrath of khan, he died in the next movie the search for Spock

You bring up very good point , why would so many be so happy if they had just suffered through a wholesale slaughter?

On the other hand if they had all been healed and survived by the (special energy of the wee) that would be a great reason to cheer

The Rebirth problem for me was it was done by Akom. Terrible animation like most of S3. The story was good for the most part. It could and should have been better. Like S3 really had some good stories. But for me animation can ruin it. Dweller in the depths imo was a bad story somewhat. But the animation made is easier and more fun to watch.

I think it started out well but kind of goes south as the story progresses.

The whole series should’ve been animated by Toei. The Akom episodes were terrible (i.e. Carnage in C minor). At least the 3 Japanese series were all animated by Toei and they look much better than most of season 2 and 3 of the us g1 series.

Persoanlly I think Rebirth suffered from the fact that it was a 5 part episode with chunks removed to fit into a 3 parter. Had it been fully 5 episodes I think people would look as down on it even those who enjoyed it. I also think a full fledged season is what many fans, like myself, of the G1 cartoon have been wanting since it was off the air.

I was bored with the Headmasters anime. It took a nosedive after the first 8 or 9 episodes and didn't pick up again until towards the end. It was a chore to watch.

I know how such a typo comes to pass the way you are writing, but anyway: I was just thinking that his could be the name of a knock off Chromedome :D

Probably. But it is what it is, which is fine by me.
