I am not into WfC / FoC collecting, basicly i have other priorites (aka no cash) , but as a fan of the games and the desings which imo are ones of he best in the hole franchise, i always followed Planet X job, hoping someday i will spare money for some of their awesome figures.

I like to see the hole FoC roster in figures someday and including a standalonr Ultra Magnus, his robot and alt form where one of the best.

All of their previous releases got me do interested, but not this one.

 

Seeing how Apollo is still not in production, maybe everyone should voice their thoughts in a constructive manner on PX's FB page. They do tend to listen to the fans' desires/requests and PX has been known to pull radical stuff at times.

 

I have been collecting everything WFC/FOC for five years, and after throwing thousands of bucks at this aesthetic I can just say that Planet X Apollo is an undignified, worthless pile of shit. I would buy a Triton repaint any day over this.

 

This comment baffles me... So you hate that a remold of OP is being used for the FOC UM but would be willing to buy a repaint of an OBSCURE dinobot that wasn't even mentioned in the game?

Like why? On one hand you are complaining about the aesthetics (based on I am assuming source material) and on the other you're willing to spend your money of a figure based on nothing?

Yeah ditto. Ive also spent thousands on this aesthetic and Planet X has earned my trust either the figures they make. I'm going to give them the time to make their case as to why this was the best way to go (by letting the figure speak for itself when it's released).

Seriously if you guys don't like something, go find something you do. Spend your time and effort on positive things and make your life happy. Don't get all upset over things that don't matter.

Being that I'd likely say the same thing, I'm going guess it's something to do with the fact that at least Triton is a true, albeit slight, retool. He's not just a bunch of armor pieces slapped on Neptune that don't even work with the transformation. Plus, the fact that he's a nobody character makes cut corners more forgivable. Triton feels more like an optional bonus to those who really loved PX's dinobots. This is more like a slap in the face to those who really loved FoC Magnus's design.

Just seems like it'd be more prudent to DETERMINE you don't like a thing once it's actually released instead of basing that opinion off a handful of development-stage prototype images...

Because if everyone who didn't like something waited until a final product was released, there would be no feedback to know if something was worth making or not.

Maybe in this case there aren't enough dissenters to make a difference... but what if there were, and everyone just waited? Then we'd be stuck with a final product of something not vary many people want.

It's important to bring up major flaws and downsides early in the process so that if enough people share your view, perhaps the producer will take note and go in a different direction for the figure.

And that is fair enough. My question was why then go buy a random repaint on a nobody figure if this UM upsets him so much? Wouldn't it be better to invest his money into another figure that is somebody to add to his collection?

I'm of two minds about this guy.

On the one I like how Magnus had his own design in this iteration and would've loved to have seen that but on the other I can understand how it'd be a little cheaper for them to just make add on parts vs the cost of engineering an entirely new figure. This way you also get the bonus of appeasing those fans who like the whole "white Optimus" shtick. They're probably looking to recoup some costs what with their latest releases being perfect fodder for repaints (the seeker design) and army building (the announced insecticons) after big stuff like Trypticon

With that out the way, yes PX Apollo/UM alt.mode is meh at most which I'm not going to argue. I didn't like it either when it was first revealed. However, it's not terrible to the point that it didn't resemble the game. The robot mode, on the other hands, is outstanding! Looks very much like the game...at least to my eyes. Knowing that PX Apollo is wearing an armor is even more precious to me. Again, to me, for some strange reason, I kept on envision the FOC UM design as the Magnus wearing an armor. Maybe it's because the FOC UM design has a pair of shoulder rocket launcher like the G1, his overall colors scheme, body and chest similarity in contrast to something like RID/Animated/Prime UM which to me is a standalone bot. Therefore, this PX Apollo version is perfect for me.

Now that my FOC UMagnus wish-list is becoming a reality very soon, do I hear any 3P dare to take the DS WFC UM for their next project? Lol.
