I agree. I like how it's more styled similarly to Generation 1.

It's a new piece of branded media that will take shelf space and be the focus for the foreseeable future. Of course it will bring out the passions of the fans, both good and bad.

Personally, I don't like the Ben 10 art style and don't care one iota about Windblade. I do hope it's got some good stories to tell, but after the disappointments that were NuRiD and Combiner Wars, I don't hold much hope. Sure, I'll still give it a chance, but my expectations aren't high.
It's also more about the toys for me, so once again, NuRiD poisoned the waters of my hopes for decent figures.
I really hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but won't be shocked if I'm not.

At what point can a person open their mind to their possibility that a corporation has lowered their quality of media significantly and it's not just all subjective?

Nowadays, yes, that is exactly what is happening. Quantity over quality. Almost every media outlet is covered at the same time, but none has stood out in the last 10-15 years, besides rare exceptions like some video games, TF: Prime and earlier IDW, as something of quality that is also embraced as such outside the fandom. Nothing anyone outside the toy-centric fandom would write home about. Grown men who prioritize toys over storytelling, art and entertainment.

I want better quality fiction. Why do I keep getting attacked for this? What do you have to gain?

You don't get attacked for wanting better fiction. People just call you out when you excessively and unnecessarily shit on everything that's new.

Well, sorry, but, that's my angle here. Transformers fiction has taken a turn for the worse, in regards to quality in the last 10-15 years. I understand this may not be your opinion too, but, it's my mine, and I believe I have every right to express it, criticize a corporation which I have supported for years, and ask for something better. I don't want to be disappointed. I really really try to give them the benefit of the doubt every time. But, once again, they seem to drop the ball even with lowered expectations. What would you expect me to say? "Welp, someone somewhere may find some enjoyment in this, so... Yey?"?

You definitely have the right to express your opinion, and I'll defend that right. But simultaneously, you gotta be prepared for when people disagree with you. :thumb

While I would agree, I also want to make a major exception - TF Animated was within the past 15 years and it was god-tier amazing. Sure, the cartoon style was off putting at first with the weird angles and the chins (which ultimately became an endearing aspect when they embraced it and just got crazy by giving the guy with no face a chin) - I fully admit I thought it looked like shit at the beginning, too. But then the show did something no TF series has had the balls to do before or since: it changed the FOUNDATION of what the story was set as. The war is over, the Bots won, and Optimus is the leader of nothing more than a bunch of misfit janitors who are woefully underprepared to face off against Megatron the exact second they uncover the AllSpark. There is real growth demonstrated in the series as the heroes gradually get their act together such that the series replaces the human villains with the Decepticons without making the Decepticons look weak in comparison.

And then when Animated got cut short in S3, the team still went to all the trouble to produce the AllSpark Almanacs so that all the unproduced stuff coud still be enjoyed by the fans. That is some diehhard dedication by the show staff that's never been equaled since.

To be fair, almost everything that's new fiction wise has been rather shit.

    QFT

If only a large amount of people in the movie forum understood this...

Crap. I'm out of popcorn... :lol

    *stands up*

I'll check it out. Hopefully it's good RID15 was better than I expected.

I would love a show though, that breaks all of the "rules". Heck, even make a Shattered Glass cartoon. That would be nuts! But it would never happen..

Even just changing up the characters a bit would be fine.. Thunderclash (Optimus role), Doublecross (Grimlock/Bulkhead role), Pharma (Ratchet role), Nautica (Windblade/Arcee role), Circuit (Bumblebee role), and Siren (Prowl role).

They could all have different personalities while still filling the basic roles. Then kids could have a whole new group of characters to grow up with.

But again, it'll never happen.... so I'll just try to enjoy this show...

*goes to find another bag of popcorn before reading this thread again* :lol

but that in itself is subjective...someone that doesn't feel the quality has lowered obviously won't feel that way.

give this show a chance...like i said earlier you don't know the VA cast...the transformer cast aside from three characters..how it's going to look or play out.

you know nothing other than one promo image.

and you're freaking out over it....

It's still insane to get so worked up about something as small as a promo pic. No one here wants a badly done show but there's a difference between not liking what you're seeing and expressing it and acting like someone did something horrible to you.

Also I'm sorry but for someone who keeps talking how it's important to express one's opinion you're very quick to put down and dismiss those who disagree with you which just makes you look like a tool. Also not everyone is into the same type of shows as you and ignoring that is again makes you look like someone who has no respect for other people's opinions. It's like how not everyone thinks shows like Beast Wars and Animated are the top definitive TF fiction and everything else is just garbage or at least sub par in comparison or like not everyone feels that the TF movies lack substance of any kind or even that not everyone thinks G1 should take priority over every other TF series.

Wow... that looks and sounds incredibly disapointing. I don\'t think we\'ll ever see anything with the heart and soul of TF Prime or the Cybertron games ever again at this rate and that\'s a damn shame. I could be wrong about this show but if it\'s anything like RiD, I have little hope of it being something that anyone over the age of 10 could really get into. Any chance Hasbro might cut a deal with Netflix or something to create a show geared more toward the nostalgic adult/teen fan in the vain of Voltron and such? *sigh* I\'ll give this show a shot but I don\'t expect much in the way of depth or character developement. Btw, is anyone else sick to death of Bumblebee? It can\'t just be me. I\'d much rather have Optimus Prime front and center as it should be, or at they very least someone we haven\'t seen much of in awhile like Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime(I\'m not counting the movie version).

I don't mind the designs. Loving the young looking Optimus though. Don't know if Cullen is going to reprise his role but hopes to have a young interpretation again.

It looks pretty good, I’m interested. Although I would prefer that it wasn’t focused on Bumblebee. The role he’s given seems like it would fit better with Hot Shot, Ratchet, Jazz or Prowl, but I understand why they chose Bumblebee and it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

I just hope that there are some classic characters among the Decepticons and not just new characters. I’m fine with them introducing new Decepticons, but I also like the classic ones, like Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Skywarp, etc. One of the things I didn’t like about RiD 2015 was the lack of classic Decepticons.

Call me when the Turbomasters show up. I'm sick of Windblade. And every story being about BB and not any of the other hundreds of characters in the series. I don't necessarily hate him, but I just yearn for some creativity. Prime underused him and RiD (sort of justifiably) overused him, but overall, it's getting old. Imagine that storyline being about Kup or something- that would make sense AND reinforce the existence of the toy that is on/was recently on shelves, no? I like the art style quite a bit though, especially Optimus. I know it's surely weird to think this, but I'd say that he looks unmistakably like a dad, and that just fits.

Also, the synopsis sounds familiar. "Robot dementia. It's not at all pretty."

To be fair, that's like saying Titans Return Machinima isn't going to be absolute garbage even though I think all the same people are involved who were with the Combiner Wars Machinima.

well...we can surely take an educated guess it'll be bad....but we wont' know for sure till we watch it. for all we know they people working on it could get more freedom in the creative process and that can make all the difference in the world.

    you never know man...

I haven't said anything since this news popped out. I must say say. Takara/Japan is still "hiding" behind America. The only thing I'm pleased about Takara is its actions in the Legends line. (ex: Legends Grand Maximus, Greatshot, Dinosaurer)
I just wish Takara would rally do something first.

Maybe when he recovers his memory, Bumblebee will remember that Windblade isn't his best friend.

The linework and angles make it look like another cel-shaded CG show like RiD. Neither the description nor the art style are grabbing me, but I've changed my mind on shows before, so here's hoping.
