Perhaps a sequel instead. The premise could be the Maximal's shuttle gets shot down while clearing orbit by a second Predacon group sent to find the first group or Ravage. Just a thought.
Me personally? I'd love to see what they could do if someone redid it in cel animation. Maybe not EXACT camera angle frame by frame reproduction, but I think it'd do some wonders with the overall look. It'd also kind of fix a criticism I have with the fight scene animations from the original.
I'd like to see a series with all the characters who weren't used in the show over animating The Gathering and Ascending, thinking again. Polar Claw builds a team of Maximals and occasionally his war with the Predacons is influenced by events from the main Beast Wars series.
No. It was a great series, it stands on its own, and we can rewatch it whenever we want. The animation, while very much a product of its time, doesn't spoil the immersion once you get into it. I want to see more shows that do what Beast Wars did: something new and unique, with new themes and characters, instead of playing it safe and regurgitating / repackaging something that has already attained popularity.
The animation assuredly DOES spoil my enjoyment of the series. In my mind, it's the series' main weakness. And as far as trying something new: Animorphs. Be careful what you wish for...
Yep, I watched almost every episodes when it was aired here back in 1998, I enjoy the animation at the time. I still love it today.
If they still had the source files and could upgrade it with better textures, higher polycount and smoother animation and then render it anew, yes. It would be basically the same show, just looking better.
I see a remaster just as I view an HD remaster of any video game. Ducktales on the NES has the nostalgic graphics, but Ducktales HD looks a thousand times better. I don't think too many people would argue with that. So yeah, I'd go for a full on HD remastering. But only the CGI. Everything else has to remain the same or you run the risk of losing that original charm. But yes, when Cheetor runs across a grassy plain, I'd like to actually see the grass instead of the ground just being painted green to give the impression of grass.
All it takes is a quick look at Prime 1 Studio's work to have an idea of just how gorgeous Beast Wars would look with modern CGI. But I don't know about keeping everything exactly the same. Personally, I really wish the series was allowed to properly wrap up certain plotlines (e.g. Dark Glass, the Vok, Tigerhawk). But honestly, I would be content just seeing new stories with the characters I love, even if it was done in different media. Comics, novels, you name it. Just make an honest effort to recapture the elements that made BW special to begin with.
The only problem with that, is they'll never be able to recapture the show exactly as it was back then. It's like when Furman tried to do Regeneration 1. Too much time has passed and the writers are all in a different place now.
I love Beast Wars the way it is personally. Even though the CGI has aged, I think it still looks better than some of today's cartoons that use CGI. That said... I wouldn't mind an 'HD remake' just to update the graphics. And if they could get the voice actors back, maybe they could do a few new 'lost episodes' while they were at it, like say "Dark Glass".
My knowledge on Marvel G1 is very limited, so I can't comment on that. But I don't believe my point is contingent upon reaching out to the original writers (not that I'd complain). As long as the series was trusted to people who understand what made it great – people who "get it" – I think we'd be in for a treat. The recent Star Wars comics are a good example of this.
That's why he brought up the Regeneration comparison Furman was one of the writers of some of the better stories from the 80s comics, anybody could be trusted to get it right it should have been him An the book was more disappointment than anything else

I understood that much, and it's why I said my argument doesn't hinge on bringing back Larry DiTillio and Bob Forward (in a way, I was agreeing with Mako Crab). But this should be treated in a case-by-case basis and not as a hard rule. Maybe they still got it. Maybe they don't. But the point is to make sure the series is in the hands of someone who understands the source material. If the original writers aren't up to the task, there has to be someone else out there who could do the series justice.
I think Beast Wars: Transformers needs to remain untouched. Beast Machines, however, could use a proper retelling with all characters retaining their original BW personalities and more.
