    Inferno, Wreck-Gar, Ratchet, Barricade, Spinister.

Jazz, Sideswipe, Hoist, Silver/Bluestreak, Ratchet, etc. Lots of options. Feels weird that Wave 3 wouldn't have a torso bot with its own limbs/team.

    Right?

For some time (after selling off RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Universe, and early Generations) I was only collecting G1 reissues and Masterpiece. Combiners Wars brought me back to Generations and I've collected everything from Titans Return, as well. Never did I expect to see such a vast G1 update line as Prime Wars has turned out to be, with characters/figures, sometimes quite obscure, ranging from '84 to Victory. Now, when I think of Masterpiece figures, I can't get over their being over-priced, overly-complex, overly-fragile, and stuck in 1984-86.

Slag would have been benefited from the contrast that the black upper back the original proto showed. Stickers on vital parts of jazz is a tragedy. Elita 1 looks good.

So that last ocombiner pic is supposed to be Inferno in torso mode? When I looked at that picture for the first time, I honestly thought it was art for a possible G2 style Hot Spot/Defensor.

I hope you know that Hasbro was the one that introduced the Afterburner remold first.

Hasbro may have released Afterbreaker to market first, but didn't Takara reveal on TFYuki's twitter their grey protos of the UW Technobots the same week Hasbro showed their production Technobots at some Toy Fair?

Also, you're saying the Afterburner remold was all Hasbro's doing... yet they didn't have access to the guns that came with the mold, but somehow Takara did?

Hmmm.... Has Starscream's other 2 combiner limbs been discussed? We know about the planes. But after looking at this picture here the leg limb looks like one of the Dinobot molds. So could that be Slugfest?

Actually Hasbro and Takara Computron came out within the span of 12 days of each other! Hasbro Computron's "shared online retailer exclusive" release "street date" was August 15th 2016, Takara Computicon/Computron's official release date was August 27th 2016. So really, this doesn't make for a conclusive "Hasbro's came first" argument, it was most likely either a joint effort, or Takara introducing their Deluxe Groove with plans for an Afterburner retool just at the right time for Hasbro to make use of it.

See here for a partial timeline regarding the Hasbro and Takara Computron reveals. In fact, that post of mine addresses a lot of the points brought up in this thread.

Allow me to simply quote myself, with two additions at the end:

Now as for why Hasbro's version of Computron featured a retool of Air Raid as Strafe instead of the Blast Off retool from TakaraTomy's Unite Warriors version, that's simply a result of bad timing. By the time TakaraTomy even officially unveiled their space shuttle Blast Off (which, as mentioned before, was a TakaraTomy only creation), the development for Hasbro's Computron (including the Strafe retool of Air Raid) was already underway. Remember that we saw the first glimpses of Hasbro's Computron back in January of this year, and Unite Warriors Bruticus including the space shuttle Blast Off figure wasn't officially revealed until later that month!

    Here's the obligatory Nevermore timeline:

More likely it was Takara who created the mold as a remold for UW Groove with an eventual Computron in mind much like Strafe as a Blast-off retool.

Expected? A Combiner head. Not a direct clone. What I would have liked? I think I made that pretty obvious.

I'm no Hasbro designer (therefore it is not my job), but switching up the design isn't exactly hard. Give the helmet a different shape, give it a crest, get rid of the 80s hair, etc. That's what I would have liked. Optimus Maximus had a squarer shape to the head with singular, grey antennae entirely different in shape to the standard Optimus antennae, a more recessed face and prominent head crest. Cyclonus had a crowned Galvatron. Starscream has a crown and a rounder shape. Volcanicus is all pointy and bug like with a different shape to Grimlock. Elita's looks a lot less altered than all of them.

who knows, maybe the combiner head is this "proper elita" and her actual robot mode's head will be based on her TAAO (RIP) appearance with the broken headcrest.

All I say was Hasbro introduced it first. Never say they make it first or did the retooling by themselves. But seem like you are a mind-reader of some kind. I don't need to explain anymore, because Nevermore explains better than I could have.

TakaraTomy officially unveiled theirs first. Remember Hasbro's first showed the Groove head with only the canopy being different. Even after the new UW head was revealed, CW Afterburner didn't come with the new weapons.

Also it was revealed that CW Afterburner was originally going to be a Legends Scale CW Groove redeco instead of a Deluxe. With Ironclad, the version of CW Rook with a Brawl like head, being the additional replacement limb like Alpha Bravo and Offroad.

So Hasbro changed their plans based on Takara's work.
