At least Ironhide's death advanced the plot.

Jazz died just to be the guy who dies. Who happened to be the "black" robot. In a Micheal Bay movie. Yeah.

Ironhide because no one saw it coming. As soon as Jazz challenged Megatron you knew he was fucked.

Jazz is easily the worst because I had no attachment to the character. The movie never bothered to develop him enough for anyone to give a shit that he died. The only people who seem to care only care because they're making a non-existant connection to a completely different incarnation of the character which has nothing to do with the movie on it's own.

Ironhide's death is actually the only death in the entire franchise that actually meant something and that's more to do with the fact that he was killed by a friend, someone he trusted, and the movie actually took a little bit of time to show us how Sentinel was a well respected and trusted Autobot before that death happened. That's the only time in any of the movies that I've ever actually felt anything for a character's death. I felt his betrayal when he killed Ironhide. Plus aside from Bumblebee and Optimus I think Ironhide got the most screen time so I felt like I actually knew him as a character where as most other characters feel more like props than characters. They're just there but they don't really do anything.

The expression on Ironhide's face as he sees the rust corroding him as well as well as when Sentinel shots him the second time just breaks my heart. Probably the saddest death of the franchise.
