Hello gang, I need advice on how to remove smudges and scratches to the translucent parts of figures. You know the known suspects: Windows, windscreens, cockpits etc etc. I am restoring my old G1s and I have several Smudges coming 'factory stock' in my Mp lambors, so I thought that if there is a way perhaps here someone will know. So shoot me.
I've heard lots of good stuff about these: https://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-7136-P...TF8&qid=1507500844&sr=8-1&keywords=novus+7136
Not yet, but it's in my next Amazon order. You can also try toothpaste. Seriously! It's used to shine car headlamps, so it's safe for plastic and acrylic.
I have a G1 Braver (among other things but this it the worse case) and the windshield looks like a bird pooped on it (well sans the colour, the colour is the plastics colour). So it looks like its a bit on the heavy side.
If you still need to fix some fine scratches, Future Polish is good for that. Actually, it's marketed as Pledge Floor Finish now. I found out even Hot Wheels modders use it to repair windshields on old cars.
There's a YouTube channel called baremetalHW in which he restores Hot Wheels cars, and he explains in some of the videos how he restores the clear plastic windshields. I'm sure the method can be used on TF's.
ive heard people use tamiya polishing compound as well for this. i might try that on my broken mp starsaber canopy someday
Get some of these four-sided nail polishing blocks. Seriously. I polish everything from metal to dog turds with them:
