..... You do realise he's not suppose to be RID Megs, right?

I\'m not sure I\'m into this.  I WANT to be, but I\'ve not really liked the marshmallow-esque style these versions of the Monsterbots had.  Also, I\'m probably going to get the Perfect Effect version instead.

Ironically the version pictured will be yet another hard to get, overly expensive exclusive, just like the  .one it\'s based upon...

Does it work as RID BW Megatron or TM2 Megatron? Nah, not really, he's way too chunky and different for that. But I still love this just for the novelty factor. This guy is his own thing that exists just because they thought it'd be cool. And in that regard it's really damn cool. For a con exclusive with a super limited release, they really went the extra mile.

I mean... I guess the Dragon mode ends up looking a bit like a cross between his actual TM2 Dragon Mode and Savage, but without a Noble to go with it that just seems odd. And yes, as people have pointed out TM2 Megs is very lithe, while the BotCon toy is powerfully built, and this thing\'s too hench to really pull the homage off.

Plus Perfect Beast will be a thing so...

BTW, what and when is SGC 2017? I've tried to Google it several times and have come up with nothing.

Edit: Nevermind. I immediately tried a little harder and found that it's in Shanghai and it's the same weekend as TFCon USA. (Still couldn't find the actual name of the convention though)

So the likelihood of this also being at TFCon too is probably nonexistent. Alright. Waiting for the retail release it is then.

He looks really good and is hard to turn away. Perfect Effects' version will be in proper scale and style to their Optimal (might get a little helper weapon if we're lucky), and of course will be wide release.

On the other hand, I know for a fact this layer cake of references is a good body and his style plays perfectly fine as a large generations toy (yeah he's MP sized, but Optimal is huge). His exclusivity is the real burn. At such a low run there's a chance no outlet will get him, and even if they did, there will be a premium which will probably be in the ballpark of PE's Megs.

    TFSource has this for preorder.
    Fans Hobby - Master Builder - MB-03A - Red Dragon - Convention Exclusive LE300
But it's nearly $100 more than it's mold-mates. And to put it in perspective, for $50 more you can pick up an actual BotCon 2016 Megatron, the official figure this is homaging.

Uh, maybe I'll wait for a sale. I'm pretty crazy for Beast Wars stuff, but I'm not THAT crazy. At that price, plus exchange, plus shipping, plus duty, I'm gonna hold off. I already have the original BotCon one anyways. And this is extremely poor timing with the announcement of Grand Max and Greatshot.

Yeah, I was all over that one until I saw the price. For that I can almost get two of the regular monster bots off ebay. :-(

I preordered one of the convention exclusive figures through taobao for just over $100 before shipping. I feel like there is a huge markup for the TFSource version.

I saw online that at the conventions it would be sold for about the same price as TFsource. And knowing the impossible odds of me getting this figure any other way. I took the chance of pre ordering it from TFsource. I found it worth it! And I am highly looking forward to a masterpiece version of Beast Wars/ RID Megatron.

Yeah the only big difference so far that we know is that there will be a little special mark on the convention exclusive ones and that's it.
