At the end of the day, once you realize the OP never even bought MPM04, his comparisons fall apart fast. Better to trust people who actually handled both toys rather than someone making a thread just to beat a long dead horse.

Nope, only disappointed in qc and build errors because it's otherwise a damn good figure and far superior to the ROTF leader mold.

There's more disappointment in you beating a long-dead horse more than there ever will be with MPM04

The one that looks lile a bootleg it's the MPM, the one that looks good it's the leader.

Look norm I miss cheers as much as you do but taking your rage on a plastic toy wont bring your show back. On the bright side you've made this thread a place where everyone knows your name just not for the reasons you'd have hoped.

Man..a few years back I sold off my Busta Prime for cheap & had sellers remorse. Regretted it.

But it was all cured several weeks ago after I got the MPM, now I'm so glad that I sold off my Busta Prime. I don't miss it anymore.

    MPM is mah favorite! :D

The fact that the MPM04 thread has 500 pages, despite the figuring having qc errors and design issues and all, says a lot given how this thread only has 2 pages.

The main thing knocking down MPM04 is the gaps due to design issues, people are mad because the majority of them who actually HANDLED the toy think it's a far better toy than ROTF leader Optimus, just hindered by design issues that leave gaps. Where ROTF leader Prime comes up short, MPM04 far exceeds. Meanwhile ROTF leader Prime's only advantage over MPM04 is a gapless and more solidly connected truck mode. Stronger ratchets too maybe, I guess.

Meanwhile MPM04 has double jointed knees, over 90 degree bends for the elbows, swappable faces, a matrix chamber, a far more accurate robot mode, swords that don't look like flattened teaspoons, no voicebox, better ankle movement, a far more streamlined and intuitive and easier transformation(gaps aside), moving thumb and index fingers, more refined sculpted details, a more accurate robot mode silhouette, a waist joint and....

    I could go on, really.

He can't buy it, that's why he's trying to rip on the MPM version because he's too broke to afford it.

And in turn, trying to justify why the RotF leader is better (likely the version he has).

Good 'ole Norm, dodging the question of whether or not he has the MPM version in-hand or not.

Your opinions have been disregarded since you can't base them off of anything besides pictures.

I like the leader more. It's my opinion. Don't get your swords in my face. I hate mpm 04 for the hype and for how much silver was really uses, and can scratch I think, idk. It's also $140, while I saw a rotf op in toronto at tfcon for $50. The leader class feels more like something you would play, rather than display with. The gimmicks are bothersome for sure, but this was a leader class toy that was meant to be bought for a god awful movie and here comes one of the best transformers ever. I have a comparison actually. Rotf op is macross, rotf op is the first toy that really revolutionized the movie line in the same way macross did for the anime industry. Mpm 04, is robotech. Robotech is a dubbed version of macross, and featured much different things, had a "better" sounding soundtrack and was more consistent. Seeing as robotech had a better budget for what it did, it's a no brainer it's going to be better. What my point is, is that of course mpm 04 is better of course, with the paint, articulation, and look. Seeing what rotf prime had at the time and what it was able to do, it is truly amazing at the time what it did. Sure, it was based on a god awful movie, but what the designers were able to do, is just ahead of it's time, just like generations springer. Fight me. Tear every single word apart from me and drown me in your opinion. Do it.

I could also paint my rotf op and pay about $10 just to do it, and have a full silver paint job and a few accents with panel lining and golden accents. I have time, i don't mind. We've all had to do a custom at one point or another. That's how tfw2005 is anyways.
