I can see why people may not like the look, but for some reason it doesn't really bother me. I mean, sure, larger forelegs would be nice, but I can live with them as-is. My beef with the hind legs is because, well... Knees don't work like that. (same reason why I can't stand G1 Gimlock's dino legs, but that's another story...)

How do you know? When was the last time you saw a two-headed dragon thing and really looked at his back knees?

even though there are no parts from silverbolt/cyclonus/scattershot, it looks to use the exact same engineering

The last time I encountered a two-headed dragon, his back knees were the last thing I was concerned about. ;)

Well... I do care! It just looks bad to see the legs of the bot being used as the elbows...

The issue is though at that scale it isn't as feasible. I mean, yeah, Ordin does it, but scale wise Albreich is going to be quite a bit larger than Rippersnapper, so it fits in

Personally I'm not crazy about the orientation/design of the rear legs either, but it's a made-up two-headed space monster so I can live with it. The bits that really look out of place to me are the teeny-tiny forelegs and the junk on the stomach. It's possible the stomach kibble is just one of the combiner feet, possibly with a Prime not-Headmaster thing attached. If so, no problem - leaving optional parts off is an easy fix. But those forelegs...I just can't see any way of making them work, they're just so scrawny. Maybe if he was a bipedal space-monster like the Prime one it'd look better, but it doesn't look like the alt-mode could hold an upright/bipedal pose. Plus there's a gap between the bulk of his body and the kibble on his stomach that looks like his weeny widdle wegs might fold into the body for either robot or combined mode, in which case they'll have to be like that for the transformation.

But still, this is just a resin prototype, so I'm hoping it'll look better in colour and/or be reworked a little down the track. I doubt it re. the latter but it's not impossible - maybe the Takara take will have some adjustments a la CW/UW Computron.

Surprise, it wasn't a mock-up or an unfinished prototype.

Seeing the finished product, I'd settle for replacement legs, but the undercarriage isn't too flattering either. Unfortunately the front legs are bolted onto a piece that's ALSO bolted on, so any add-ons for that issue will have to either replace half of Hun-Grrr's robot pelvis or just clip over the tiny little baby legs.

The back feet look like they might be removable from the pinned hinge piece, so correcting his knees may just be a matter of replacing those feet or maybe reversing them. The shoulders/beast hips could use a more rounded replacement but that's bordering on nitpicking if the other issues are addressed.

A rifle would also be fantastic.

That just looks like the combiner chest stuck on the bottom. I could be wrong but I didn't notice that pink bit attached to him in any pictures of the robot mode.
EDIT: I lie, it looks like the chest doesn't partsform and instead folds onto his back. So that's kind of cool. But it might still be removable because it's clearly the combiner chest.

If the front legs were too big, they'd get in the way of the combined mode, and they've obviously limited the articulation to make it stable given the shape of the alt mode.

The only thing I'd change is making the robot feet a little bigger. Other than that, I think you're still overreacting.

I don't think I'll pick it up. I never owned any versions of the Silverbolt mode, and if I recall correctly he is a pretty dope torso. I've heard him compared to be as good as Onslaught so I'm down with getting the same type of Torso for Abominus. I dig his robot mode, I guess the monster modes' front legs could be bigger, but honestly what I would spend money on from the 3P company would be CW capable Terrorcon team that was based off of their Prime designs. I really prefer that look.

    But that will never happen.

well, this is what happens when you retool a mold that wasn't good in the first place. If you look closely, PotP Hun-Gur is a heavily retooled Combiner wars Silverbolt.

I don't collect none MP anymore since HasTak went all chincy back in the AoE days but if I did, yes, I would want an alternative.

Dragon mode is a bit goofy but fine overall. The transformation scheme will make for an excellent torso which is the most important thing.

At most some 3p will produce some upgrade parts for the areas of the dragon that could need buffing up, but the toy as it is now will be fine for me.

The silverbolt mold is probably the best torso, sure it has skinny legs but is more posable than hotspot.

Nah, I wouldn't buy a 3rd-party Hun-gurrr. Sure, his legs and body look bad in dragon mode, but his robot mode is fine, and his combined mode will likely be fine. Those are the two modes in which he'll probably spend the most time anyway, for me.

There are lots of imperfect figures out there. In this case I'm fine just accepting that imperfection as part of the package, I don't feel the need to upgrade and replace things in pursuit of some hypothetical perfect figure. That's a slippery slope.

One thing you're forgetting though is that the G1 version partsformed all the Abominus parts. All the objectionable undercarriage on the new one is the Abominus chest and head, etc.

That said, I agree wholeheartedly that there's no real excuse for the crappy beast mode. They could have used the exact same engineering for the rear legs all over again, and just given him bicep swivels, and boom, you're good.

It's funny, Hun-Grr as a kid and all the way up to this day was always one of my favorite G1 toys, because it looks great in both modes and had insane poseability for its day (hinged shoulders, elbows, knees, wrists, ankles; universal thighs; head rotation... up there with Jetfire, Galvatron, Snapdragon, and that's pretty much it). I can't help but feel this modern iteration is inferior in every way to the original.

I'm still gonna get it though. :)
