Damn! I'm one of the few who like JPIII but even I won't give it that score!

Haha, I don't want to necessarily single out DarkEnergon22 - he's entitled to his opinion and all that - but I admit I've been raising my eyebrow for quite a while now at how liberally he gives almost everything he watches a full 10/10.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956):
A bit slow at the beginning and almost boring, but the plot picks up with the discovery of the pods.

    Wonder Woman 9/10

Great film.still miffed a bit about the change of war she is connected to but i can deal with it. The fight with Ares cost it a point though. Still it proves the naysayers wrong a female comic book character can carry a big budget movie. Gal Gadot did well in the role.

Beetlejuice - I've gotta say that this movie seems to get better each time I watch it. This was probably my third or fourth time seeing it. It's far from perfect, but a fun movie nonetheless. 8/10.

A vast improvement over the original. Better acting, better effects, better music, better pacing, better build up, and overall a better movie. The movie from start to finish had this unsettling feeling making the situation very disturbing with great timing for shock moments and not overused fake jump scares making this indeed a classic horror movie.

House on Haunted Hill - This is my second time watching this movie and it was even better than it was the first time. What's funny is I was even more engaged in the film despite knowing the twist. You know it's a great movie when that happens. There are some flaws in the plan though and I feel it should have been about 10-15 minters longer. 9/10.

The Exorcist - This was the first time I have watched this movie since 2001 and my feelings have changed on it, at least from a cinematic level. The first hour is developed quite well and I love the scenes that take place in Iraq. There are also a ton of beautiful shots to be had here. Unfortunately, things kind of dip in quality in the second hour when the possession actually occurs just because I find it to be utterly hysterical at how serious everyone is able to take this situation. The visuals remain top notch and the camera work is impressive, but I can not help but laugh every time possessed Reagan opens her mouth to say something. On one hand, I can understand why people were scared by this movie in 1974 as I'm sure having a 12 year old girl talk with such obscenities was shocking to many. These days, it's pretty normal. I also feel like the exorcism scene drags on for way too long. Still, it does a lot to make us really care for the girl's mother and the situation she is in, along with the frustration she feels when not a single doctor knows how to actually help her. I'm raising my original score of a 6 to an 8/10 and I also see its impact on the genre it made then.

BTW, I have a horror book that was actually published in 1974 and the author talks about how he hopes the gross body and gore this movie displays does not become the norm for horror. I wonder if he is still alive today and what he thinks about horror now.

    Abel Ferrara's Body Snatchers:
The 1993 version was a bit okay, repeating some stuff from the previous two versions but doesn't stand out that much apart from it having a teen romance and switching from urban to military setting. The military setting was wasted. It had potential to do something different but the teen romance held it down from using it to the fullest making this one dull in comparison.

Still one of my fave movies. I hadn't seen the 4K remaster until last night in a Dolby theater, and damn did it look amazing. Might have to get a 4K TV for when 2049 finally hits home video.

    The Invasion:
The third reboot and this time there are no aliens, but some sort of virus and it's filled with political commentary. Sure, the previous version had their commentaries for their respective eras but this one pushes it by having these CNN news snippets in the background. To the movie's credit they didn't hammer down a full on terrorism or national safety message so kudos to that. But it's still an underwhelming movie. Oh, and the effects were terrible.

    The shape of water 9/10

It's just a perfect movie. So well done. Everyone did an incredible job. Only thing i might have a second thought with is that the beast and the girl's relationship began a little too quickly. They jumped right in with that, but its still good. And much more sexual than i expected too.

dear god there is artistic douchbaggery in this film. The music gets too loud and bombastic at times. Dramatic scene then BWAH BWAH BWAHM BWAHM!! In the music. The artistic shots where the shot goes B&W negative then different color filters for the same shot before the next scene annoy me. Just so many shots i roll my eyes at. Things like Nolte knocked over the railing and the entire shot flips 180 degrees. This thing is over acted and just terrible. Basic premise is good, but execution is horrible.

I wanted to see this because of The Simpsons episode. I will stick with that. Plus you get the rake gag and that is pure gold.

If you're interested, there's also the original film version made in 1962 starring Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum.

I still don't get why they pushed the movie back for two months since it is clearly finished.

Maybe the best movie I’ve seen since Zodiac. I’m blown away. It’s very different than the first narratively in the sense it lacks the ambiguity that seems so synonymous with the first, but has a more cohesive and satisfying overall narrative. And my god did the movie look incredible. One of the best visually I’ve ever seen.
