I've always really liked hour Alt custom work. Which ones do you still have? What prompted you to get out of the line?

 

Aaron Archer uploaded some photos of his office during the time he was working at Hasbro. As most of you know, the Alternators line was his baby, and a few of these photos give us a little glimpse into what his workspace looked like while working on the line (and of course pretty much everything else, too!):

The fact that they no longer made.them.i guess is what ended my love for the line... still have my fav ones.

 

Cool stuff, I even saw yellow Tracks in one of the pictures. So was Aaron and hasbro who was responsible for this line and not Takara?

 

Alternators/Binaltech is Archer's brainchild. Everything stemmed from there.

I don't want to sound pedantic or splitting hairs, but to say TakaraTomy isn't "responsible" for the line simply isn't accurate, as the design team there took the idea and ran with it under his supervision, etc. In other words, after he created the concept, it was very much from then on a collaborative effort. He was one of the primaries involved with securing licensing and parent company approval on the designs, etc. Archer was very much heavily involved after the ball got rolling. That's also much of what those photos tell us, too, as there is a Hound proto on his desk in one photo, for example.

Hopefully that's all made a little clearer now  

 

The Alternators was such a sweet line. It's too bad that it kinda went out with a whimper. The Alternators is what got me back into collecting Transformers.

 

I'm still glad we ended with the Hasbro release if Rodimus. It's still not the bookend Megatron could have been, though. I'm kinda glad it ended when and how it did, though, as it could have been much worse.

Yeah, I think at this point it's pretty clear to tell that this line has fueled much of why I'm around

Back in the day when each of these came out, I paid more for just one of these prior to shipping than I paid for the total lot shipped above here.

As some of you guys might have figured, I'm troop building again ^_^

(Note: Someone got 'em a cheap Autorooper on eBay the other day, as my AuctionSniper crapped out on my bid. I wasn't happy, but eh  )

theyve pulled a few old molds out from storage like primus for tlk and god fire convoy reissue.
if they got out some of the alt molds out and did somes tragiht repaints of them for old time sake - no new heads or snything - what characes would you want?
ignoring that licencing has assumedly lapsed.

 

I always wanted Springer from the Mustang mold. I always thought it really fit him, big, bulky, strong-looking, and with the sword. But there would have to be a new head.

 

id say theyd have to do a frenzy with the civic
thats an obvious unfinished business
and something with the xk like a blue howlback or a stripes
the scion didnt get much play either
and yeah a mustang wouldnt go astray either

Yes, they went back on display. Skids is a recent addition.

I have Binaltech Lambor and Grimlock for sale if anyone is interested. They were really good figures but I want to buy more Masterpiece carbots which is why I'm selling those two.

I moved this past summer, and I finally got some new shelves to fit in my new collection room. So hopefully my Alts will all be on display soon. I’ll have to fix Camshaft too, his rear view mirror broke off while I was packing him up.
