An Overlord that's as tall as God Ginrai? Glad some 3P agrees  





Legends Overlord suddenly became even more appealing.

I want some sort of upgrade that doesn't involve throwing away half of the original figure. Perhaps if someone could come up with sort of add-on to the tank or something.

 

Same thing happened to Murphy in RoboCop.

 

Then you haven't seen the tankmode for this add-on kit yet, because it absolute smashes the chibi stock tank.

 

I see why someone wanted to do this, but it's really ridiculous.

 

why? the upgrade kit will undoubtedly be cheaper than carnifex, overlord will have been out for months by the time this comes out so the total cost will be split up instead of needing to be paid all at once, scales the figure better with god ginrai, and options are always a good thing

 

I didn't say it didn't look good. It does.

It's just that if you're paying approximately ¥8,000 (plus postage and UK customs) for a Takara Overlord only to replace half of it, this upgrade set is not quite what I'm after. At that point, I might as well get a complete 3P Overlord like Double Evil.

I'd prefer an upgrade set that modified the original tank/legs to add more bulk/height. It might not be as impressive, but at least I'm not left with half a pricier-than-usual Leader figure that I don't know what to do with.

If you're going to make an add-on that replaces over half the figure why not just make an entirely new figure?

On another topic, I've been taking another look at Blitzwing, and I think it looks fantastic. Not a headmaster fan (even though I have several TR figures) but that one might be worth paying a premium for.

I wish I could hurry them up.

 

because not everyone wants to pay $185 all at once for a full figure. some also like supporting the brand and buying official figures plus upgrade kits. if you don't see the point in this kit then it obviously isnt for you

 

The point of this kit is to size up the existing HasTak Overlord to properly match his nemesis God Ginrai, a la MasterForce. It's how he should've been in the first place.

FansHobby Double Evil wouldn't work for this purpose because he is MP scale, so not only is he way too big in relation to Generations and the figures he should be sized up to, he totally defeats the purpose of having the two MasterForce enemies be any sort of a correct fit that makes sense on a display. I've already got Carnifex with the Godmaster upgrades, but seeing this actually makes me feel better about the official product now being closer to Overlord's MasterForce portrayal.

Overlord shouldn't be shorter... or a giant (if you go with Double Evil) next to God Ginrai, and this kit completely addresses that. Plus you gain a rotating tank turret, less chibified tank... AND finally a gun replacing that pathetically terrible peashooter HasTak saw fit to give him

TR Overlord Upgrade Kit

I like the idea of the upgrade but something seems off to me about the proportions, but I'll wait to see how it all looks in the final colors to judge. The only thing I don't like though are the articulated fingers. They don't look right on a chug figure. Most of the time i don't think they even look right on MPs.

It's good to see they added the "Megatron Rules", G2, an Predacon stickers for Megatron. The last part of 2017 and the beginning of 2018 are going to be very expensive!
