Come on Ephland, you have a wee bit of that nature too!

    The comic book version perhaps!

IKR! Micheal just doesn't know what he's doing.

I don't think the cussing is a problem, it never bothered me. But now when I look back I notice that they may have been cussing a bit too much in instances where it wasn't needed at all.

It's not as much the words as the intent and attitude. The fact that I can call my friend a cunt as a term of endearment, and then say it to someone else to start a punch up, is proof of that.

Not that i'm saying Transformers should call each other cunts, and not to deny that these movies use curse words to beef out thin scripts, but we have to stop giving power to words and then worrying about them.

Anyway, Kids love a cheeky curse word at the movies, I remember Spike in the (best) 86' movie "shit! what are we gonna do!" I realize there's a lot more shits in TLK, but y'know, we didn't have youtube in 86!

This has been a primary gripe of mine against Transformers movies for awhile now, but it seems I'm in the minority on this. Thing is, I've never really thought cussing was ever really required, especially in a Transformers movie, however this movie is has gone so overboard with the language and crude jokes, that I honestly think this series could benefit for going for a PG rating. Ask yourself this: would you ever think you'd hear anything like a f word in anything related to Transformers? I know I sure wouldn't. I know the old 1986 film had a couple cuss words, but I can forgive two compared to the dozens upon dozens you have got in the live action films. Especially the Last Knight. I would think Hasbro could make this films a little bit more kid friendly and no one would really mind.

I'm probably old fashioned on this, but that's just me.

I never even noticed, which goes to show how much I swear daily.

Come the fuck on, that was like my favorite scene. Cogman is a gem. :lol

I used to have the same attitude to cursing as many in this thread, but in my life in general, I've had to tone done the language considerably, both in terms of the workplace, and in terms of being around nieces and nephews, and various other situations. It was surprisingly difficult at first. I'd been used to throwing theses words around so casually, that to not do so was a struggle. But it turns out there are a great many other words and many other means of adding colour and punctuation to what you have to say.

I have no real issues about cursing in the appropriate context, but as used in the Bay TF movies, aside from being largely unneccesary, too often it's like they're just going for yet another cheap laugh with it.

Yea that's what I was talking about too. He doesn't really pronounce the "ck." I haven't looked at the subtitles but I know the TV version keeps it in and you can't have the word "fuck" on regular TV.

It was much more pronounced in this movie, and it was much more cringe in this movie. It seemed out of place as they were kids. Teens, I can see cussing more, but kids tend to have a natural psychological aversion to that stuff. So yes, it was not needed and came off as cringey as a result (then again, this describes the whole movie :lol ).

There was simply no need for it and it hurts the franchise. These movies are made for children, to sell toys to. Which means that parents have to be comfortable to let their children watch the movie. I am not at all comfortable about exposing my children to this level of bad language, it's degrading and I find it insulting.

It was also very uncomfortable for me that Cade used most of the bad language when he was speaking with Jimmy and Izzy, which gave it a racial subtext.

Every single instance of cursing could have and should have been replaced with a better line.

I wish there would be a child-friendly edit of the movies without the bad language and sex jokes.

Well in theory yes, and that's what a lot of people might assume. Hence the commercially calculated infusion of vulgarity.

It's there to reassure the teens and immature adult audience that they're not watching a children's movie (even if much of it is still basically on that level). They want everyone's money, not just kids and parents.

I think tlk pushed the limits a little too far. I would put Transformers in the same category as Jurassic park or most superhero movies where it should have just enough swearing, and just enough violence without making parents cover ears or eyes. I call it the pg13 ok for everyone category, the occasional swear for comedy is perfectly fine. "That is one big pile of shit" - in JP it is hilarious but shit isn't said much more than that in the film, I think one or two more times.

If it's an R rated movie, have at it. But Transformers should be in the "for kids, and adults" category.

That being said Tucci screaming "how do you say get the fuck out of the way in Chinese" is likely the hardest I've laughed in 5 movies

I felt they were really pushing the envelope with some of Joyce's words for the Chinese.

Still rather uncomfortable with that back-up scene, where he pretty much tells Cade to just go ahead and hit the people in their way. I could imagine they cut a line where he goes, "There's a few million more where they come from noone's gonna notice!"

Guess it feels that these days, Asians are becoming the new 'cannon-fodder' for disaster films, because they seem so quiet and not-so-vocal as other groups.

It goes around and around doesn't it. For a while white English such as myself were a very attractive target for hollywood vilification, especially when it comes to having Irish or Scottish protagonists. "Hey everybody we all have a celtic gene, let's trash the English in our hollywood history rewrite, so we can feel good forget about how we oppress and discriminate against our own American minority's!"

These days Muslims are the safe bet, everyone hates a terrorist.

I think it's kind of odd that people admonish Bay for "unnecessarily" including scantily-clad women in these movies, but swearing is OK. Both are prevalent in our society, so if one is OK, the other has to be too.

    cringe.
maybe that statement would a nice addition if she actually did anything in the movie. TFwiki has fallen hard.
