Superion has EASILY been my favorite combiner of the Combiner Wars. This was an amazing start to a new line of toys and...Honestly it set the bar too high. I was a little disappointed with Hotspot&Menasor because of just how solid a torso Silverbolt makes. That being said, I did feel a few things could be improved: - The original gun was...Not great in my opinion. Needed to be beefer. - Feet always bugged me in the CW line. I can deal with the hands, but the feet were awful to me. - Didn't like Slingshot being just a parts-mashup. - Powerglide - Since I've already shown off my CW Powerglide, he won't get a gallery here. - Firefly - - Energon panel lining(Blue) - Repainted the wings for a closer G1 look. - Repainted parts of the arms/legs to break up the colors more. - Gave him Gen30 Brainstorm's guns, looking as lightweight cannons for the fastest Aerialbot to not slow him down. Or spinning around as battle tonfas. - Air Raid - - Energon panel lining(Red) - Repainted shoulders&knees to give him a look similar to his War for Cybertron color scheme. - Repainted the wings on the inside so his backpack isn't just pure black. - Gave him a pair of CW double-barrel blasters that stay on his arms, keeping him more distinct from Powerglide in vehicle mode. - Sky Dive - - Some small amount of silver detailing. - Carries both of the combined mode hand gattling guns. And the elbows were strengthened to support the weight. - Would have painted more, but unfortunately, Skydive is also slightly damaged by the previous owner. And the only other one I have is in prep for a much more expensive project. His right knee is busted inside the lower leg. Fortunately, this doesn't hinder articulation, as the knee itself is fine and the leg holds together just fine as well. It just means that transformation is now parts forming. Tried to show it off as best I could, not trying to hide this.
Have to do this as two posts due to image limit. - Silverbolt - - Energon panel lining(Pink) - Repainted shoulders for a bit more G1 accuracy. - Entirely removed the previous cannon. The "shield"/combined handle was left in place and the barrel was instead replaced with a Beast Machines Tankor cannon. Yes, the cannon still works perfectly and should fire a Tankor missile if you can find one. I just never could find one cheap. - Massive orange booster rockets attach to the outside of the arms in vehicle mode, complete with firey vents in the back and semi-retracting Gatling guns in the front. - Evidently this results in a silly "Tank mode" being possible. - Aerialbots! - Finally a set with five distinct members...None of which are a vehicle that would lag behind the rest by miles. Looking at you Alpha Bravo. You know what you did. - Combine to form Superion! - - Silverbolt's gattling boosters now form Superion's new feet, making even more well-balanced than ever and support a lot better articulation and posability. Front toes are both articulated, letting him bend them to kneel down(shown), and the gatling guns form a functional heel that has no trouble supporting the combined mode in any reasonable pose(No karate kid crane posing). - The new rifle for combined mode is beefier and just looks MUCH more proportionate. - Air raid's guns help bulk out the thighs symmetrically. Firefly's help bulk out the shoulders and break up the color scheme a bit more. - I actually was going to replace the antenna with a resin-cast set painted gold...But they kept snapping after a careful few transformations so I scrapped the idea. Could have been the resin we used back then, doesn't matter by now. - The left hand's fingers are articulated at the knuckle. This was to allow a more natural gun-holding position for the hand. I would have done it to both if the gatling guns weren't blocking forward movement entirely. Superion is not convinced Mini-con swindle is not Combaticon Swindle. Mini-con Brawl is not helping convince Superion. Twist-Tie Bruticus knows who's the bigger bot. But even Combiner Wars Bruticus can't stand up to his Might!
I have the reprolabels set for all of them (including quick slinger); if i was to do some energy panel lining for the team do you think it would look good)
I know you posted while I was uploading the pictures still, but I would say: Absolutely. Have a look at the combined mode pictures. Silverbolt/Firefly/Airraid all have energon panel lining and they mesh very well together despite being three different colors(pink/blue/red). If you're going to only do one, I definitely recommend going with a metallic blue panel lining for all five as it stands out the best. I don't know how well it would mix with reprolabels though, because I'm not a fan of reprolabels. Or any stickers, generally.
