I would like to see entirely new designs, new stories with better writing. And, yes a new director. Complete Reboot!!!

Well, I just hope they get people who legitimately care to write it. This is a huge opportunity and I sincerely hope they don't blow it.

The problem with The Last Knight is that it acted like it wanted to be a sequel to the previous films, but at the same time it wanted to distance itself as much as possible. It's like it didn't care about what the film it followed established, as if the writers itself hated the previous films and wanted nothing to do with them. Galvatron? No mention of him. Lockdown capturing all the Knights, and Prime is one of them? Suddenly Knights have been in a ship on Earth all of this time, and there's another Knight that gets shot down in Chicago. The origin of the Transformers is much less fleshed out than in the previous film, and in the previous film the Creators were meant to be teased and not fully explored. What does that tell you? I find it ironic that the fourth film written before the writer's room acted much better as the beginning of an expanded universe than the fifth film, which was heavily touted as being the beginning of an expanded universe.

Quintessa in The Last Knight claims to be Optimus' maker, but she's also said to be the Great Deceiver, so whether she is a Creator not is not definitive, and nothing else is ever mentioned on the matter. Consequently, I don't know if the Quintessons were done injustice given there have been Quintesson sorcerers in the past, but either way the Quintesson origins of the Transformers should have been explored in more detail in Transformers 5 rather than having the Order of the Wiwiccans, WW II Bumblebee fighting Nazis, TRF, and Cybertron coming to Earth a second time.

So yeah, in the future the Creators could be done justice or not. Just like Unicron could be done justice or not. I have my own ideas as to how that could be done, but that's a discussion for another thread.

The thing is as fans we all have extremely different opinions from each other given the diverse history of the brand as well as our backgrounds. I'm a huge G1 fan, but there are also many disagreements with the majority of G1 fans I have. I love Beast Wars, but I'll strongly disagree with those Beast Wars fans who think Beast Machines ruined the Beast Era. I really like the movies for the most part, but there are many things I'll disagree with the majority of Movieverse fans on. There will always be differences.

I'm not bemoaning the differences either, but I think we have to realize there always will be such disparate opinions in this fandom.

On the bright side, Hasbro will still make toys for these movies, reboot or no reboot. I just want the designs to be like movies 1-3 giving it a more home feeling imo.

Listen, I'll be happy if a new storyline means we don't get another "Autobots and their newfound human allies must race to recover an ancient cybertronian artifact that has shaped human history before an ancient and evil Cybertronian who wants to use it to restore Cybertron by destroying earth can get it" story. I mean that's the real reason I didn't see The Last Knight, it just seemed like there wasn't anything i hadn't seen in the previous four.

    Omg, lol!
No. Never said that the Bayformers will be discontinued. I hope that they will, but I never said that they will.

You don't seem to understand what's really going on here.

The last two Bayformers didn't do as well. This means Paramount and Hasbro are crapping themselves right now, and trying to figure out what to do now.

So yeah a rep smiles and says everything is fine and that there will be tons of new Bayformers shitstorms in the theaters, when the reality PROBABLY is they are praying that the Bumblebee does well enough for more movies.

That is what sometimes happens in the movie industry.
I'm not saying it will happen, I'm just saying it could probably happen, and has happened several times to would be movie sequel.

Don't take everything at face value.

    Oh, and one last thing:

If they're promising one by 2019 after coming off for the BB movie means they'll probably rush it, which isn't good.

I love that nightmarish scrap monsters give you a homey feeling.

    I respect that.

I assume it'll be set in the same continuity but just sort of a soft reboot. That makes the most sense to me. That way, they don't throw away the last ten years (or 12, by the time this comes out), but they'll be able to keep it separate too.

It's Hasbro and Paramount, so it's safe to assume Bay will return again to "supervise" this reboot just like the last one.  You know, to make sure they don't mess it up by using their 30 years of story and character cannon in a manner that ressembles their 30 years of story and character cannon.

Hope to hell I'm kidding. But they DID reboot already once, except somehow with Bay involved they didn't.

Now I REALLY wonder what Bumblebee will look like. Wonder if it's even settled? I like movie BB and I was looking forward to seeing that applied to the VW Bug.

Final thought- this would probably go better for them if they didn't releas their reboot only about a year after the previous iteration...

It's called CEO's justifying their jobs to the Board of Directors. Happens all the time.
It doesn't mean that's the case here, but there's certainly a possibility of it.

Yes. That doesn't matter. The whole thing could still change.

QUOTE="toaprime, post: 15055904, member: 108361"]So the CEO directly lied to investors? That's a great way for trouble!
Sure, possibly. But like I said, stuff like that sometimes happens.

    Oh HELL no.
Hasbro, you\'ve started a story here, and as crappy as it turned out, you need to fucking finish it. I fucking hate unfinished stories.

Assuming "something new" will be some sort of departure from what we've got, a hard reboot would be my choice. Not what I think is going to happen, but at this point I feel it would be best. Just like the TV shows; start fresh, pay no attention to what came before.
That said, a softer reboot is much more likely to salvage as much dignity from the trainwreck they can.

Umm lying to investors gets one into bad trouble. But I digress... lol
Who said it's lying? Maybe they mean it. And maybe in a year from now the studio will change their minds, and TF6 will disappear.

This isn't so unusual, or mind blowing here. It's how Hollywood does things.
