For some reason I always lump him and Dean Stockwell together.

Might be getting a little bit political here, but Stanislav Petrov passed away today, at the age of 77.

Not really a famous name, not especially well known, but Stanislav Petrov affected the world we all live in enormously. In September of 1983, almost exactly 34 years ago today, Petrov received an early missile warning at his post in the Soviet Air Defense Force, and spent nerve-wracking minutes choosing whether to advise a retaliatory nuclear strike on the United States. He decided to advise that the alarm was likely false, which of course we know today it was, but in that moment he was far less certain, only 50/50 in his own words, and based his conclusions on what he expected of american nuclear doctrine and his own distrust of the warning systems. His calm under pressure, and keen intuition potentially saved millions of lives. May he rest in peace.

Yes, I read about him not too long ago. Basically, 3 Soviet commanders had the give the ok to launch a retaliatory nuke, and he was the only one who said no. Considering the pressure I'm sure he was under from his peers and his government, it's truly admirable he made that call. God bless him. :rip

Yeah... :C Guy was just starting to get his due. Last album was a hell of a swan song though. Rest in peace, brother Bradley, send our love to Sharon.

Don't forget one of his most iconic roles: the Chamberlain in the Dark Crystal. That whine is burned into my psyche.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to help you, yes..."

    RIP Mr Dennen

I watched The Dark Crystal a few months ago, myself, mainly due to the upcoming prequel series that's coming out at some point on Netflix.

The dark crystal is a good Movie. Kinda dark for something by Jim Henson. But still one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid

He did some good stuff and did some not so good stuff. A legend with a big life for sure, but was a product of his time.
