Just speaking for myself, but I'd buy a second one with no improvements from the original company than support a KO.

 

I'm surprised we didn't get a second version of Aranea like the pink/blue RCs. I would have loved to see a black and gold repaint closer to the original blackarachnia than her animated deco.

 

Probably because Arcee has been portrayed as both pink and blue where Aranea was pretty on with the general color scheme.

I'm shocked that I was able to get this in Peru and much cheaper than if I would have bought it on Ebay to boot!

Let's start with the positives. The deco is without a doubt stunning, the combination of gold, purple and black is just so good, very reminiscent of Animated Blackarachnia and makes her stand out in any collection. The amount of accesories she comes with is also one of its best aspects, so many weapons and so many ways to hold them and store them, not to mention that the extra parts can even form a spider drone. I was initially disappointed about how the little gun has the handle on a weird angle but considering how Aranea's wrists work, she still can hold it properly. Speaking of which, articulation is great, lots of joints that allows for a huge variety of poses.

Aaaaand then comes the negatives of course. It has a reputation of being a really fragile figure and I can see why. For one, some joints are too stiff for their own sake which makes me believe that the use of extreme force might have caused so many of these toys breaking. Plus, some of the pegs are also not properly made to hold the accesories and for them to work you have to push extra hard which of course, causes more problems. I'm actually afraid of transforming this.

That being said, is still a fantastic-looking fembot and surprisingly in scale with the other Hasbro/Takara fembots I have in my collection so she doesn't look out of place and I can treat her as an entirely new character which is always a plus. Really satisfied with this purchase.

(By the way, can anyone please tell which are the most fragile parts of this figure to be careful?).

 

I would actually buy a retool that's closer to the art in the comic she intentionally appeared in. Sort of like the Leonidas refactor they're doing right now.

Man. That screams Animated Blackarachnia. I'm surprised they never tooled her to be that. The art also makes that Motobot Arcee look like the intended character. Neat as they were, the figures looked and felt like they were related to the intended characters somehow.

I'd still second the notion of a re-run of the figures... namely Aranea with the Leonidas treatment of various fixes/retooling. Heck, give her an Airachnid styled head as an option. I know, silly, but we never got a good Airachnid at all... best thing was Fakebusker making a set for the Beast Hunters Arcee mold.

 

I would buy a reissue of Aranea with fixes. My main problem with mine is some loose joints with pins that PE went through great pains to conceal and are pretty much impossible to remove without drilling an exit hole or building a powerful electromagnet

 

The "Future" trick works in those instances. Buy yourself a bottle of Pledge Floor Finish (or whatever label the product has now. Used to have "with Future" on the label, but I think they phased out that branding), and it'll serve you for almost all your loose joint needs (outside of improperly driven rivets). It's essentially just a super thin and durable acrylic sealant, that seeps very well into even small cracks in plastic and once dry, can provide some extra friction for loose joints.

 

I hate pins on figures that you can only see one end of. I dread running into those.

As the other guy said, get yourself a $10 bottle of floor polish and kiss loose joints goodbye.

I got my blue Arcee from Yahobby.com about 5 months ago. Ended up at $62 shipped.
Although I think the price has gone up, they have the blue and pink ones.

 

she is still one of my fav figures and will prob never be dethroned from her spot on the counsel
