Last night I discovered something about the head. Since pushing it down all the way leaves the eyes too low, I played with mine, not pushing the face down all the way. Left the eyes above the cheek guards as it should. The thing is, I felt resistance when pushing down.

I think this might be intentional, as stopping once you feel resistance, leaves the eyes above the cheek guards. There's even a line on each side that aligns with the face. This is hard to explain but easy to see in-hand.

So I don't think the face is supposed to be pushed down all the way in robot mode. Of course, none of this is mentioned in the instructions.

I do wish the swords connected to the forearms differently. They have clear tabs that plug into slots in the forearms. Since it's clear plastic I worry. I can understand why this was done but I would've preferred something like an interlocking clip attachment instead. So if the swords bumped into something they'd merely just pop off. With this, if the swords bump against something hard enough, they might break off.

Got it from Hobby Link Japan. I live in Atlantic Canada, it shipped on Friday, got here today. Surprisingly quick, though I did choose the EMS shipping.
My TT copy has notches in the stairs where the pipes flip out. It lets them flip all the way out, I don't think the Hasbro version has them. Someone post a picture of the Hasbro version's stairs.
EEK! I have steady hands and confidence in my artistic/craftsman abilities... but that's a scary proposition.

It's soooo close. Mine will not tab in properly. But it's so close. And it would be amazing if it did! I mean, it's close enough, but...

Help us Wei Jiang Wan Kenobi. You're our only hope.

Its funny that most people have no problem with accepting Rodimus (and that's just the worst of many problematic mp figures) as a masterpiece figure. But this figure, oh no. This figure is one of the worst things Hastak has ever put out. Not even near worthy of the masterpiece title right?

Just figured out the tabbing issue with my copy. The arms that connect the front engine bonnet to the windshield need to be pushed down flush with the forearm panels. Once they click into place everything else fits snugly together :D

I love how the latest wave of MPM-4 pictures have been from a zoomed out house setting, usually the kitchen. You attempt to show us all what Takara is cooking, but we wind up seeing what you are cooking

But it feels nice not seeing domination of lightbox/professional pictures

Dude, please stop. I can assume that because ROTF Prime obviously doesn't have the same kind of toy-breaking QC issues that the MPM Prime has! Come on.

Hey Actar, pls consider selling all your mpm4 copies and get a fixed copy from my friend over China. It's rock solid.

    Ok, Takara, if you're listening:

Make a "Buster" version on this figure with all of the paint and chrome that this original figure is missing and all of the tolerances fixed and assembled correctly so it can solidly do what it was designed to do. Make the truck a solid brick instead of a hair trigger spring.

Do that and literally charge double if you have to in order to make it possible. I'll double dip and buy it. This design is that good. Just make it right. Please!

I was just about to post something similar. There's even little locking slots and tabs!
    20170920_003003.jpg

Of course..they also don't line up properly on mine...the cheeks were too far apart. So I took the head apart....again, and trimmed the screw pegs. Reassembled the whole thing, and the cheeks squeeze in and clamp on now.

I still say the face needs to be moved up. Check the relation of the eyes to the helmet brow on the prototype and stock pics, they are MUCH closer together.

Can we get a step by step guide in English? I'm down for modding mine.

When I pegged the truck together the slightest of gaps opened up between the windshield and the hood. It's not nearly enough to be bothersome, thankfully. I'm very happy with MPM04 so far.

I always like pictures better when they have a bit of background detail. Cheebs' picture is superb.

    Wow

I'm not even sure what the story about this guy is anymore. Just how much of MPM-4 changed from concept to final product?

    So there was
    • slide out shoulder canisters (short-lived)
    • chest gap w/ properly tabbed truck mode
    • fully extending smokestack extensions (stuck with one that doesn't line up fully)
    • different chest slots for the red tabs?
    • truck panels sitting flush inside spark chamber area w/ grey notch
    • leveled face (what you just described)
