Well, this one at least is a piece o' cake! Straightforward brown and wine red repaint, then extend his feet for those oft-referred-to honking great clodhoppers and we're done!

 

Oh, and paint his cockpit clear green too.

Started applying the wine red/burgundy.

I usually use Tamiya paints but couldn't get the colour I wanted from them, so I'm using a Mr Hobby for the burgundy and BOY IS IT PUNGENT.

Seriously, after 10 minutes leaning into this guy and painting he started to talk to me....

Not just pungent , EXTREMELY hazardous. You must wear filtered painter masks and work in ventilated area!

Rrrreeeeeeeeeaaaaallly hated that Mr Hobby wine red gloss so I ditched it and mixed up an alternative using Tamiya red and chocolate brown with a hint of purple. Much better, although still not quite 'correct'.

Should be a pretty quick job - all that's left is to do a little detailing, tint his windshield green, add his yuge clodhoppers and possibly give him a set of Primal Beads, as seen in Skids' Grindcore flashback ;-)

 

How would you tint the windshield?

 

I have a pot of clear green Tamiya acrylic, I'll paint the inside with it.

This saddens me. I paid for a custom Flywheels repainted from this mold 2 years ago and never got it.

€135. I've gotten into customising myself since then and considered doing this but lately I could see it working for Micromaster Flattop.

Great work on this and all the Scavengers.

 

It was such a cop-out repurposing established characters as Titanmasters. I'd love someone to do a proper version of Flywheels, in many ways he's a shrunk down version of Overlord if you think about it.

That's a lot of money to charge for a straightforward job like this, let alone to lose it. Shame.

 

So much for a 'simple' job! I've had a bitch of a time with getting the right paint for the burgundy parts. The Mr Hobby gloss was toxic and gloopy so I ended up having to mix my own...but I ran out of two of the three paints I was using and had to wait til I could afford new paints! he's actually two slightly different burgundys here, owing to me running short, so I need to touch up the burgundy once more when my new paints arrive, hopefully tomorrow.

After that I just need to paint his tank treads, extend his feet and give him a little touch up all over to cover any brushmarks or splashes.

The green cockpit at least looks alright.
