also please put into consideration that some of his components mass-shift during transformation, his head being made out of J-Der's upper half & his arms formed from J-Der's legs, if ignoring the mass-sifting that will make J-Der having a super tiny upper body with super HUGE out of proportion legs when not combined, also how big is J-Der compared to GaiGar or GaoGaiGar as a whole?
Dang, that sold out so fast BBTS is probably wondering if they priced it too LOW. Well, at least I don't have to be tempted anymore. Now if only someone would come along and announce a proper transforming toy of J-Der to help wash away the tears.
Is the Omega Prime combined mode in RID 2001 supposed to be a nod to Choryujin? I know that Safeguard in animated is and RID 2001's Optimus Prime's super mode chest resembles EnRyu but is anyone getting the same vibe with omega prime and Choryujin?
IIRC, RID2001/Car Robot was very heavily inspired by the Brave series. Sort of coming full circle of inspiration going Victory → Brave → RID 2001.
Not Choryujin. But Brave in general. The whole Leader Robot combining with another Leader sized robot later down the line is a theme that carried for of the series but did not carry over to Gaogaigar for some reason though there were plans but they ultimately just strapped giant pods to Stealth Gao and called it a day.
Funny you mention that seeing as how the formula of the Brave series was itself pioneered by Materforce and Victory, the leader powering up with a non-sentinet object and later and gaining another robot to combine with for a final form, and non-traditional combiners setups without four components making up the limbs.
Hasbro wanted to import some of the Brave toys for RiD but ran into legal problems via Sunrise. BTW, Takara, at least, briefly got the license back long enough to do two Masterpiece figures and a revival line of Might Gaine toys. But now, I think, it lies with Bandai of Japan. Kind of sad the companies can't play nice with the franchise. Would have loved to have seen Takara continue the Revival line with J-Decker or Dagwon.
Yeah it's real shame, for while it seemed like Brave Gokin could deliever on realizing some of designs but all they ever did was flounder around with Gaogaigar and Baan Gaan until CM' Corp went bankrupt..
Yep. I always considered God Ginrai the grand father of Braves. While they did do too much GGG (Did anyone even ask for Gaogaigo?) Baan Gaan SHOULD have been a fan's dream. Except it was poorly executed display piece. They did God Raijinoh too but Bakuryuoh's ball jointed hips were a major problem (for me). Its a shame they never released the Super Fire Dagwon.
I heard about something regarding hasbro trying to import exkaiser and dragon kaiser over here? But yeah I don't doubt that legal issues prevented that. Man I would love to see Takara do the Braves again and how they would engineer them to actually be articulated. I know that the SOC Gaogaigar (idk about CM's) added more articulation/better proportion to the original Takara engineering. Tho one day I would love to have the original Goldran or that ridiculously over-chromed revival Goldran to my collection. Tbh I've seen more people, particularly Japanese fans, consider Star Saber as the yuusha granddaddy with God Ginrai just planting the seeds beforehand.
SoC Gaogaigar is a completely new toy with its own engineering. Design wise I would agree. But conceptually God Ginrai already has the whole Brave Leader concept down.
God Ginrai was an afterthought at best, PMOP was never created to combine with anything else but the trailer. Star Saber on otherhand was Takara getting used to leaders with more than one componet to combine with and as such was designed from the ground up to accommodate that.
I really want to know how did the PMOP/Super Ginrai thing happen. why was the Japanese version so different with its add details, diecast and windowed chest and retracting fists.
Can someone explain more about this Brave character? He kind of looks like a police version of Bumblebee.
Oh I meant like not doing a ton of compromises compared to Takara's masterpieces to maintain accuracy but for other braves I actually wonder how Takara would attempt to do them MP style. Though in fairness, GGG didn't really need a lot of compromises much like the MP star saber also transformed similarly like his original toy.
