Although it's too late. I gotta say it now: I'm loving "The Last Knight"

I think some people here just become obsessed with several moments they didn't like the movie had. Like some human jokes, or Vivian's aunts. Filthy stupid jokes or in some cases bad editing. Here's my thoughts on all this. Some jokes didn't get me, but they weren't making me hate or something. I felt cringy tiny bit through few scenes, but it didn't make me hate anything. I was like "You could work some more on dialogs here, make it more powerful and less cringy, but OK". I don't know why they didn't work on some aspects good enough as on others, maybe because of rush. Although, I enjoyed the movie. It was hard to watch it to the end in the first time, as I felt everything rushed in the end of the movie. I was watching separate scenes from moment I watched the whole movie, and now when HD version was available I watched ending part from the beginning and though it was fine. Ive noticed that there's a lot of stuff happening on the background. Yes, they didn't make good attention on that. Like everyone shoots on bg, or fight (Noticed how Prime was beating the shit of Nitro, that is why he was easy to kill by Bumblebee) and etc. It is something why I want to rewatch movie again - to see more stuff in it that was hidden. The movie itself also had its own atmosphere with music. I mean I really liked the music here, it just felt like everything simple with this music were having a great sense. Maybe the whole movie isn't very very good made on its own, but as a fan I enjoyed it! Watching some scenes separately in a good quality feels even better, as you're not tired of happenings in the movie (first time I saw it I felt like I'm watching 2 movies).

For me personally, I hated it because the acting, directing, editing, story, and characters were all terrible. I did have it in my mind that they would not all be terrible, so I guess that is on me.

I think it was that scene when hotrod was talking in his alt form through the radio & scanned & assumed another alt form is when I made my OP. I thought that was pretty good. Bay's movies are laced with them: if they're good they're good, if they're bad they're just bad.

But I already got to watch the entire movie, will re-watch Friday when I get home. Again, Can't really say there were parts that I did not like to the max. Well there's Cybertron and again just to show bay pays attention to science details especially when it comes to another body coming close to our solar system and eventually to Earth.

Aside from my belief that it would be best to turn over from bay to a new director to get a different, fresh take and the other points I made above that bothers me about the movie (in general bay's little attention to detail)TLK to me was the more or less similar to ROTF to AOE. The first one was still the most special. TLK gets a passing mark.

i am glad you like it!

after south dakota the film falls off of a cliff for me & it wasnt THAT great before s. dakota (merlin being sozzled, bee's immortality) but it just basically gives up after that & ceases to become a transformers film..i mean, who the heck thought it was a great idea to spend close to an hour on exposition in the middle of the film? wretched

felt a lot like rotf & that's not a good thing!

There are many things in life which I personally cannot understand how anyone could like either - from general things such as the infatuation with celebrities and shallow pursuits such as snapping selfies, to Trasformers oriented ones like human-looking robots or aliens speaking like cocaine-dealing thugs.

But, that is all part and parcel of being human. We all see the world differently.

But the thing is that not everyone cares about humping robots. That was literally 8 years ago. I didn't care about Bumblebee peeing or Devaststors balls and I knew what kind of films this series is. TLK was more of the same so if you didn't see that coming then being disappointed is down to the viewer. And yes, we shouldn't get more of the same. But the people who knew what they're getting into likely found it harder to be disappointed.

I've downloaded it and will rewatch in full to see if it may or may not grow on me. From just skipping around on it I can tell they re-did a few edits and now some lines/scenes make a little more sense, though I'm not fond of how they cut out Bee swatting that cybertronian fly. Insignificant, I know, but it was one of the little things that actually might have made the movie unique in it's own right.

same boat here. films a complete shambles and the last 30 mins feels like there is a scene missing before every big moment which kills the flow. will give cogman props though, he was a great addition.

    To add:
    - Hound's line "You sure you don't wanna shoot? I'm a big old target... wusses" lol.
    - still not sold on Bumblebee's voice. Hope in next year's stand alone movie & future sequels they get will friedle, Jonny young bosch, or Chris O'Donnell to voice Bee.
    - did I mention bay's Cybertron looks really ugly?
    - did I mention I hope there would be disastrous effects on earth as Cybertron closes on Earth?
    - wish we have more Cybertronians that look like that dying knight inside the ship from the beginning. His face looked great and reminded me of G1 Megatron.
    - Megatron's design and face is light years improved from the previous movies. I'm digging his design this time.
    - Still no action set piece to rival RoTF's forest fight which imho was still the best fight scene in bay's series.
    - wish canopy lived longer & shared action, perhaps even saving izabella's life and then get killed later which would've made canopy's death scene and izabella being there for him more impactful. Again I wish she at least held canopy's face as he bled. Small things like that matter.
    - Frank welker's Megatron is as always awesome.
    - what's up with bay's obsession with metal balls?
    - did I mention how much I loved how hot rod scanned and changed into the new alt form and how much I loved he talked in his alt form.
    - I love Cogman yup.
    - we need more hot rod and Cogman.
    - Cogman has the best lines and personality in the movie.
    - some really good scenes take place at the junkyard.

    WARNING SPOILERS

So on my third viewing, additional notes:
    - some of the original music is back which is good. I'm particularly referring to some of "Autobot Arrival" or the music when Prime says "freedom is the right of all sentient beings" from the 2007 movie.
    - the battle this time isn't too bad. The final battle in this movie is probably the best. There were several different shots/angles. Of particular note was the Autobots running w/ the human soldiers to battle. This is what some people and I refer I guess when the Transformers need to be more a part of their environment and little things like this matter in the larger scheme. I love the scene when Hound turns around to Prime asking for Vivian and Hound responds. I like that scene.
    - so surprisingly, I like this movie a lot to the point it's now my second favorite. So my rankings in terms of my favorite are: TF2007, TLK, RoTF, DoTM, AoE. Like in the 2007 movie and RoTF, there are several scenes in this movie that become my instant favorites, an experience/feeling I didn't have w/ AoE and DoTM.
    - another example of a scene that could've been handled better was when hopkin's character was dying. I would've loved it if Cogman knelt next to his dying master and at least held his hand and looked at him with sadness. Why bay does not have a flare for the dramatic, its most likely he's mainly an action director. For example, Peter Jackson could set up a scene where Miranda otto's character from ROTK knelt next to his dying father or James Cameron's attention to interpersonal relationships. This example along with the canopy scene could've been more impactful in a dramatic sense. Which again goes back to the point of the Cybertronians being a part of the environment and the experience of the human characters.

So as I dissect this movie, there's plenty of things to like in the movie. Why it didn't translate into 1 billion $ hit, there are many factors. But I think one main one I could think of, again as I explained prior, was still the spill over effect from RotF.

I'm also of the opinion that DotM and AoE were mediocre entries. DoTM became a hit only because there was still plenty of good will from the 1st movie. AoE had to rely on China to boost its box office. By the time TLK came in, although TLK to me was a pretty good fare, the gimmicks had run out as the box office take just decreased with each sequel and the global box office wouldn't e enough to prop TLK.

Advice still stands: make the live action series fresh by letting at least new people handle it, better coherent and consistent stories and characters, better transformer personalities and characters just like w/ Cogman and hot rod, meaningful interaction between and amongst the characters, don't rely And depend too much on the global box office saving a movie. The US is still where it's at.

Watched it tonight, thought it was terrible. I am not someone on the anti Bay bandwagon, I go into each hoping badly to like it and really liked the first one - but the sequels have all been dreadful in my opinion.

Again with this, the same problems arise of humour that isn't funny and takes you out of the money, incomprehensible and incoherent things happening from one scene to the next with little explanation. The script is horrendous.

This was the least worst of the sequels, but those are such fine margins it all just blends into one big ball of nonsense. As with each of the movies I hope the next one will be better but I can say without any preconceptions, or any ill will aimed at Bay, the movieverse or any of that - this was an abysmal movie.

Yep. As mentioned the typical standard bay fare so I've given up on bay making a consistent and coherent movie with a solid story to tell since DoTM that pays attention to even minor details. I've pointed out those things that bothered me with these movies and sometimes the lack of attention to the most minor detail. What bay's movies are are visual spectacles, great action set pieces and bonus if there are good scenes which there are plenty from the first movie, RoTF and TLK. But at this point I and most people think it will take a whole set of people making the movie, start from scratch to make the story consistent and coherent.

I'm almost the complete opposite. My favorite to least favorite are AoE, DotM, RotF, 2007, and TLK. I greatly prefer the solo Kruger films to the others.

But you know what? That's perfectly okay. We don't all have to prefer the same things, and I'm happy you enjoyed TLK!

I don't hate TLK; I just don't like it as much as any of the others. It has plenty of great things in it as well as glaring flaws. However, I can recognize that other fans may have completely different preferences, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
