TR Overlord? I've seen him in two different Walmarts, and I am crumbling! He looks so awesome! Quadruple changer, all modes look great (minus the hollowness of the fists, feet, other areas, non swivel wrists), much harder to resist than Sky Shadow. If I see Blitzwing in the wild, I'll be real trouble!

I have written off most mainline purchases but this guy just nails it. Not only that, it's not on sale, meaning it's ridiculously overpriced! HELP :D

I have a solution: buy it, enjoy it for a week or two, then sell it to me at cost. It's like a free rental! :D  (seriously, I can't imagine seeing it twice and not buying it.)

    Ok, here we go:

First off, stores are clearancing the toyline. That means that if you wait, you may find him for less, and feel better about your purchase (because you KNOW that thing isn't worth $45+tax). Worried about not being able to find him because he's an end-of-line release? He'll probably show up at Ross for like $25.

Second, it's a partsformer. If that's something you're into, cool. I hate it. If it's something you don't necessarily like, but you'll tolerate...rethink the purchase. (It's not just a matter of combining a jet and a tank, it's also a matter of having to remove parts from said vehicles.)

Third: Vehicle modes. That jet is kinda, meh, not bad. That tank though. The turret does not rotate nor aims up and down. For a leader class tank, that's just real dumb. The deluxe Minicon Assualt Team tank had a moving turret, and that figure REALLY sucked.

    Fourth: Stickers. Enough said.

    Fifth: That face is hideous.

Sixth: "Base" Mode? Really Hasbro? I'll give this one a pass, because you can make a "base mode" out of any figure if you just turn it on its side and spread some limbs.

Seventh: A Leader class figure should not have articulation worse than (or equal to) a Legion class figure.

And finally: What in the actual hell is that "jet-on-a-tank" mode? That has to be hands down the worst "mode" I've seen of any Transformer ever (and yes, I'm aware of Armada Sideswipe's robot mode and Titans Return Broadside's jet mode, because at least they tried). I don't know why Hasbro was insisting on adding a fourth mode.

If this didn't convince you to pass on Overlord, then, well, there's no hope for you.

First off, while a valid point, there's no guarantee you'll even be able to find it on clearance. The figure itself is already hard to find somewhat.

Second, it parts forms no more than Overlord logically should. And you don't even need to take off the jet half if you really don't want to. The tank barrel detaches to form his gun which, Yknow, it needs to for him to have a gun.

Third, the only reason the tank is just a brick is because it has to be legs. As much as I'd love some kind of DOTM Megatron style semi-swivel there, I can ignore it. Also calling it a leader class tank is kinda silly since it's only half of a Leader class.

Fourth, no arguement is reliable with "enough said." Though the stickers are crap, there's very few of them and aside from the ones on the backs of the arms which are easily removable, they're all in harmless places on big flat surfaces where peeling is unlikely.

Fifth, what the hell is wrong with the face? It's a totally normal TF face. It's not ugly at all.

Sixth, what do you mean "really" base mode? The original Overlord had a base mode, one that actually showed up in Masterforce, and this one actually had dedicated engineering for it. It's part of Overlord's design, he should have it. It's like if Optimus had a trailer that couldn't open up or become armour.

Seventh, what Legends class figures do you know of with ankle tilts? Not that I doubt there is one, but your average Legends is less articulated than Overlord. Plus all TFs share a similar standard of articulation anyway. Overlord is almost exactly as articulated as Sixshot. Actually, I think he is.

And finally, I have no idea what you're talking about. I have the box and instructions right in front of me and there's no mention of any "jet on a tank" thing anywhere. There is no fourth mode, unless you just saw a fan mode and assumed it was official? The figure is advertised as having four modes, but it counts the jet and tank each as one, plus base and robot.

If you can post photo evidence of that sighting in news I'd appreciate it. According to Nevermore's extremely useful list, Overlord hasn't been sighted yet.

I don't know if GG was serious. The OP asked to have someone talk him out of the purchase after all...

Thanks man! OP asked to be talked out of it, so I did my darndest!

Like I said. But wouldn't one feel better about the purchase if they got it for nearly half the price?

Right. So it's a parts former. And if you like Overlord, you like that aspect about it. I don't.

So what you're saying is, they were able to engineer something like that before on a voyager class figure but not on a leader class figure (which really is only half of a leader class figure)?

I don't mind stickers, but the stickers have been the number one complaint I've heard from fans about this toyline (aside from distribution).

I can't stand human faces on Transformers. I don't care how cool the Transformation is - if it has a human face, I'm out. ESPECIALLY if it has facial hair, like Scourge or Hound. Ugh. Give me a faceplate or something. A visor instead of eyes. Scrap the nose.

The Titans Return line is neat in that it brought back gimmicks that the original toys had (headmaster for Skullcruncher, base mode for Overlord, etc), but it also gave those gimmicks to every other character in the line. When so many other figures in the line have base modes, this one kinda gets lost in a sea of upturned figures with their legs splayed out. Looking at it individually, sure, probably one of the best base modes out there. But if you're looking for a figure with a base mode, you have so many others to choose from.

OP complained about lack of articulation - I just took that and ran with it.

You're right - I was thinking about Sky Shadow on this one. My bad.

I couldn't care less if the OP bought this or not - it's certainly not a figure that I'm after - just thought I'd help them out, since they asked for it. Otherwise, the point of the original post would become the OP complain-a-bragging about being able to find Overlord, and none of us want that.

@Canbot - if Split Lip helped to convince you by taking on every argument I had, then go for it.
