Dagnabbit. I was hoping a jetpack would finally be included. Help us out here Dr. Wu, Shockwave's Lab.

 

Great to see new pics! Weird how this deco differs from what we last saw. Silver face instead of off white, black tires instead of grey, and black not parts instead of dark grey like in the official promo shots.

 

The tires are still grey.

 

I preordered this figure explicitly because of the face. What is going on here? Hopefully this is the Hasbro release or something.

 

Hasbro never announced, nor implied that Sideswipe was getting a US release. This is all Takara, along the lines of what they did with Red Alert. Just a deco to emulate the animation models of the cartoon.

 

Yes. The animation model. That's why I'm confused about the silver face.

 

Silver face maybe because it's a painted test shot. One of the last public test shots we saw of MP-21 had blue headlights.

Looks like the elbow joints and hip joints are white plastic, which is great. Don't want paint rub there.

Gonna be hard to wait til the end of December to ship him out with Sunstreaker, he looks so good.

 

Does he have grey wheels now?  

I might cancel that now.

The blue windows seem also brighter than before. I don't really like it that much anymore.

 

For me white face, gray wheels, and super blue windows are the reason I signed up for this. If they do a silver face..... I'll just trust that they know what they're doing. Red Alert + was hawt hawt hawt. So they wouldn't screw around with the second + release I'm positive. Especially when it's so easy for so many people to shrug this off as unnecessary.

 

I dunno, I think in the original shots his black parts were still black:




His head looks pretty black in that last photo. And definitely darker than his tyres. It could be a difference like between the black on MP-21 and MP-21G (which is very subtle), we probably won't know until we have him in hand. I'd be happy for his hands to match the original MP-12, then I can swap the hands over, since I doubt he'll be able to hold his gun properly.

As you can see from my other photos, he's always had grey wheels. As he did in robot mode in the cartoon:

Yeah like you, I'd prefer an off-white face



and I imagine since he has one in the official images it will be off-white on the final product.


The overall red paint coverage looks great, though. I think he looks very nice here:



His eyes are popping very well.

 

You guys are right. It was late and I was tired   I do hope his black is more like Megatron's very very dark grey. It kinda did in some shots...

 

Yes that's what I want, and what I'll keep my fingers crossed we will be getting. Anything else would be disappointing.

 

Definitely hard to tell from the lighting either way. I don't have Red +, but does his grey actually look as light as in a photo like this:



Or is that a bit washed out?

Either way as long as it more or less matches Sunstreaker's black/grey than that's cool with me
