We're coming the tail end of G1, update-wise, heading into the more obscure stuff. Assuming that G2 updates get rolled into the G1 updates (which makes sense), where will Generations go next?

I'm assuming that we'll see the characters rolled into the IDW universe, as is happening with the Beast Wars chaps, so we could see them interacting with the G1 guys.

So, what non-G1/G2 toys do you think are in need of a Generations update?

I'm throwing RID Megatron in for a leader class update, to start us off. The giant hand mode would be amazing at that size!

 

I get the sickening feeling they'll just loop back into early G1 updates again, and of course the obligatory single Armada update per line that isn't remotely in scale with the other Armada updates.

 

I'm hoping they'll go full on into European and Japanese G1 for at least a year if not more. Updates for Trakkons, Aquaspeeders, Brainmasters... Generations Grandus!

 

I really hate how none of the Armada updates are remotely in scale with each other.

(and how two of them are simply repaints and not updates as such but thats a topic for another day)

I'd like to say "Oh we'll go to Beast Wars next" but I don't think we will, there's not much really to do a whole line of figures on as the original toys are mostly fine, but really I hope Terrorsaur gets a decent figure at some point its been too long. The thing that also sadly shows we may be looping G1 again is that they remade Kup and Perceptor with all new molds despite them already getting figures not that long ago. Quite frankly if we're gonna do G1 over and over its high time we got the Triggercons and Triggerbots!

 

Well if we are going to do this we should do this seriously.
Analyzing each toy since the beginning of Beast Wars - the first non G1 or G2 toyline - judging each figure on size, articulation, screenaccuracy, gps etc.
And this way we can compile a list of all post G2 figures that objectively NEED an update.

 

I'm hoping they truly realize where the bread and butter of this franchise is. G1. They need to relaunch with g1 being the emphasis of every line. Sure throw in some random new guys in there from time to time. Like a g1 Barricade or terradive. Make the movies g1 make the tv shows g1. Make the toys g1. Every line since g1 has been like looking through a broken mirror.

 

Yes yes this guy gets it. Geewun. Everything needs to be Geewun. Remake the cartoon but with better animation and only if they can get Chris latta to voice Starscream and scatman crothers to voice jazz. NO OTHER POSERS WILL DO. Geewun baby! woo! Lets bring everything back to the 80s and not evolve the brand.

 

The largest attempt to evolve the brand was when Optimus died. Unfortunately they botched that so bad it was rejected. Seriously how many more jerks named Optimus prime do we need to have calling themselves Optimus while battling megaton. Beast wars to an extent, but aec, rid, prime they're all just taking short cuts trying to be something great.

 

Everything in this franchise becoming G1 would be an absolute nightmare... It's already getting a bit tiring seeing the Generations and MP lines focusing so much on them when there are so many other great lines in the franchise.

That's what I love about stuff like G2, Beast Wars/ Beast Machines, Animated, etc. They all bring something unique in either the style, stories or characters that keeps the series from going stale. There is so much to enjoy with all these different series that it would just be a shame to ignore them. It can't all just be G1. That would be boring as Hell.

 

I don't disagree with you there. I suspect it's the way it'll go, though. We've got the start of the Beast era showing up in the IDW books already, and Starscream had his Armada body for a while. I think Hasbro may view a single continuity as the way to go at the moment. I'd be happy to be wrong though!

 

I'd love to see updates on the RID 1.0 cast. That new POTP Jazz is begging for a RID Spychanger Daytonus repaint. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Love to also see the European G2 figures get updated. We need Classics Thunderclash.

But on the other side of the spectrum, who says Generations has to be constantly about updates. I'd like to see more original characters like Nautica, Drift, and Windblade that didn't have a G1 counterpart. Tarn and Rung need Generations releases.

 

Yeah, because there are NO successful toylines and cartoons that stayed with the original stuff. It's a good thing TMNT moved on because I bet people would be sick to death of having Raphael and Splinter in the new cartoon. So glad they stopped using Beebop and Rocksteady as well. Turtles is SO much better by moving away from the G1 Turtles...

 

I'd love a new RiD Megatron, or even a reissue of the original. I'm not sure if needs to be Leader-class though. I'm rather partial to Voyagers. But I would still buy a Leader-sized version.

 

Beast Machines Megatron could've been a lot better so I'd be down to see a new voyager or leader of that(the dragon one).

 

I'd like to see an Armada Prime as a retool of PotP Rodimus

 

I missed most early years of Transformers so I'm game for pretty much anything. But if I had to be specific I'd be into redone Unicron Trilogy characters. I'm curious about that time of the franchise & having toys remade of that cast might give me the push I need into checking out the shows.

 

G2 jets and some stuff that never made it to us. Predators, turbomasters, Road cesar. We got a Overlord  , that in still looking for. But u get mi Drift.

 

Clench deserves justice. And a mainline release, hopefully Voyager Class and without the gimmick ruining him, please, thanks Hasbro I'll give you the 25 bucks in advance, seriously, please

 

Still plenty of G1 to keep us occupied and the haters mad. Jam in a few Victory and other Japan exclusives, along with micromasters, actionmaster characters, minispies, mail away bots, triggerbots/cons, sparkers, powermasters, more targetmasters, and we have years to go. Give a few of them random repaints that relate to A/E/C characters, call it a day.

 

TMNT and Transformers have both remained relevant BECAUSE they moved away from the G1. Both franchises have core characters and lore but wildly different cartoons with their own new characters, art style and even new personalities and designs for old characters.

You want a series that DID stay absolutely slavish to it's origins? Look at He Man, and look at how painfully dead it is.
