I thought it was incredibly cheap how he cheated certain death in the first season.

Then when he started zipping around with that obnoxious skateboard I really started despising him. Not coincidentally around the same time I stopped enjoying the book.

 

Yeah, I'm glad he's gone. I liked him when he was first introduced, but towards the end..........

 

After turning one of my favorite Decepticons into a Love sick Melrose Place character I don't really care what happens to TG just as long as it's away from Cyclonus.

 

Plus if you are gonna give Cyclonus a same sex (in a way i guess) relationship. Why try to be different just for the sake of being different when there is so much more potential (and pre-established subtext) with Galvatron?

Yeah, well during that Cyclonus "Spotlight" debut, he wasn't heart broken over Mini-bots either. But he did still have his G1 soul. That carried on in Robert's book for a little while until what we're seeing now. Which is why I'm glad TG is gone and sounds like even Roberts was aware of this.

 

I like Tailgate in Robert's books but like all characters, they're fruits. Eventually they run out of juice and Tailgate just did. I do think he would return though, just wish it would take a really long time.

Only way it could have been better would be it if had been Rewind and Rung locked in the coffin with him.

 

I never really cared much for Tailgate as an individual but I did appreciate his relationship with Cyclonus. Though after a while things started to get repetitive for them. Cyclonus saving Tailgate from the bomb explosion in issue 12, Cyclonus saving Tailgate from cybercrosis in issue 21, Cyclonus saving Tailgate from gun fire in issue 47, Cyclonus saving Tailgate from ripping his own spark out during Lost Light. So at this point I wouldn't be surprised if before Lost Light is over we'll see Cyclonus once again putting his life on the line in order to help Tailgate. If I remember correctly, Roberts said that Tailgate was suppose to have died during the Remain In Light story arc so it's possible that he really is done with Tailgate's character now and will leave his fate ambiguous. But I doubt it.

 

Five bucks says some random alien shows up and their ships accerates time millions if years in just one spot, and it was magically that spot and Tailgate gets out.

 

He's just been written out of the book for a while in a way that he can be brought back any time he's required. Bumblebee has been gone properly for a long time, and Starscream's hallucinations don't count. However, in that case, I'd like to think that Bumblebee is alive somewhere and is able to communicate with Starscream but only Starscream can hear him.

 

I kinda hope Starscream's Bumblebee hallucination is Onyx Prime fucking him up inside so as to turn him into his puppet ruler.

Well, isn´t Roberts good at "anti climatic and horrible deaths"? I mean look and Pyro, wishing to die in a blaze of glory and ends up getting torn apart by a bunch of Decepticons.

 

That's just keeping in tone with the rest of the book. Last Stand of The Wreckers isn't supposed to be a "feel good" story where the good guys triumph over the bad guys. Pyro may be denied what he desired even in death, but it sure does add to the feels and emotion of the narrative.

 

It's just a shame they killed off likeable characters like Rotorstorm, Skids, Trailbreaker and Ravage.

Hopefully Tailgate is the first of the unlikable guys to go with Rewind, Rung, Lug, Riptide, Nautica and even Minimus Ambus to follow.

We don't get enough Whirl or Swerve anymore. Plus I want to see the mutineers like Blaster, Siren and Bluestreak get some development.

 

Since when are rung, nautica and minimus ambus unlikeable? Or do you only like 80s g1 characters?
