If only this line had just been a designed to be a bit less simple, that Grimlock toy could be a really solid G1 update with a little more money and effort put into the design. I don\'t think the designers are to blame, but Hasbro surely is, for knocking the simplicity level a bit too far down with certain toylines and figures. That\'s not to say that all the simple Transformers toys are bad, though, with figures like RID Bisk, Grimlock, Soundwave, etc.

This new Optimus design looks super solid, so I hope his toy is at least decent.

My brain mashed these words together and I imagined Barricade wearing a victorian dress, sipping tea.

Considering how hollow he is..I actually think he IS the Pretender!

I don't mind that much the simple design (if he meant to be small), however I am sick of those ugly cheap thin hollow limbs!

Keep the damn stock in for me. If only New Zealand got the second halves of lines. Seriously though, that's not what I'm talking about, I'm talking about people being actively angry about things like Armada or old RID stuff getting updates in generations, which is called generations instead of what Hasbro wants to call it 'G1 Redone'.

Spider-man is just one example of an iconic character whose same origin story is told over and over, who has looked essentially the same for 55 years, and whose related toys and collectibles will likely sell forever, at least in part by virtue of the history and repeated legend. I understand that a lot of people might not be too happy about this, but I think Hasbro is realizing that similar implications exist in relation to certain characters like Optimus Prime who are now 30 years old and earning a similar status.

In G1 resides the immensely valuable iconography, the essential story, and timeless, original aesthetic of Transformers. Safeguarding those qualities as present in their most recognizable and leading characters in order to ensure the success of the franchise in the future is perhaps, for them, and therefore the franchise, a better long term end. It is also what sells the most, by far.

I've always thought that both creative expansion and retention of essential features is possible. Write stories that change what we're used to, but keep the history. In fact, in a way, I'll take your sentiment a step further in that even new designs are insufficient. I want new characters altogether.

So I am assuming that Grimlock is going to be in Cyberverse's replacement for RiD's Warrior class line based on the fact that Warrior class toys have their instructions printed on their packaging. Which is too bad, because that would have made an excellent Legends sized toy.

I don't mind that Cyberverse is sticking close to G1 designs. I do prefer the stylized looks that we have been getting with Animated, Prime, and RiD, but as long as the show and the toys are good, I'll be buying. And for people who are saying that there will only be G1 figures on the shelves are forgetting that the plan is still to have a new movie come out every year, so there will be toys other than G1 inspired ones out there, even if it is in a stylization that I do not like.

I do hope Generations will become a bit more diverse again though. Outside of a couple of Armada homages and a few brand new characters, Generations has been strictly G1 since the Prime Wars started. At least we will be getting some Beast era figures with PotP, but I would like to see more non-G1 toys show up in that line. The 10th anniversary of Animated has pretty much come and gone, and we did not even get a Tribute set. The US never got a Prime Breakdown and there is no good, sizable toy of Unicron possessed Megatron out there. There are plenty more examples of good non-G1 ideas that Generations could cover, and I hope that we will see them.

I own all the Cyber Battalion and Cyber Commander figurew and let's just HOPE that these are not of that quality. Even if you like the designs, and I do AND like the toys or I wouldn't have got more, they still don't have real ratchets and every bit of the joint quality is sub par at best. Best way to describe it is RiD'15 Grimlock's elbow ratchets, but worse because the same thing blown up. Not adjusted for it's size.

That said I been gone for 2 weeks plus, and it's cool to see news on the new cartoon and cartoon toylines!

I saw a similarly packaged Prowl at Walgreens tonight on Valley St in Manchester, NH. The box was about Voyager sized, but opaque, so I don't know how big the figure is. It transformed in 6 steps. I don't know how much it was, since it wasn't actually on display yet. An employee mentioned it to me when I was buying Quake, and sent someone to get it for me. I didn't buy it. They said they only had the police car, so it looks like they ship in solid cases.
