Origin Myths...

Well. There's a lot in this one for sure. Lot of history..

I was wuite surprised by the reveal of the 'twins' - seems to have been hinted at for some time, or a possible fudge? Given the way JB has made them interact in the present day.

The only thing that i found annoying would be the ages that some bots can get to... millions or even BILLIONS? of years for some of thr oldest?

It got the 'old world' feel right for my mind though...

Anyway, thoughts?

So is the villian.. directly based on the films? Cause thats kinda cool if so... the look is very very similar, certainly around the head/shoulders.

A3 kept alluding to being an 'unreliable narrator' during the main story and in talks with Starscream and Optimus it was also alluded there.. how much is actually real if some of it is questionable?

 

Like all the other Primes, Megatronus is in his Aligned design from the Covenant of Primus book, although that in turn does draw on the movie Megatron designs a bit.

Galvatron! Then why did she say she stood by and let somebody kill him? No, she did a LOT of pre-execution damage for OP on her brother. Although it's totally within reason to kill a brother who's now your enemy, it still pains me to see her use this lie to prove a point to a goner.

 

This was solid. I really love how the flashback is kept ambiguous like the relationship between Arcee and Galvatron since some of the character even start questioning it while others are clearly telegraphing upcoming event that are connected to the Power of the Primes toyline and storyarc. I can always appreciate Barber's ability to play with continuity to set-up a story (Now let's just hope the actual story is well-executed).

Zama and Ramondelli's artwork were fine during their respective segments. Nice read overall.

It could be metaphorical and the death she alludes to is when he stopped being the person she knew as her brother and became the Galvatron we know today.

 

Such a pity to have the "IDW covenant of Primus" drawn by Livio.

 

It doesn't change a thing about what she said that that she damaged Galvatron, some scenes with her after the issue made it clear that she had no idea Optimus was going to kill him; she still stood by and watched him pull the trigger, just as she said.

 

Yes, but did she remember that he was her brother by then? Recall, she had no memories of ever knowing Galvatron.

 

She can't have forgotten, they talked about brotherhood in exRID 42.

 

Talking about botherhood and acknowledging being siblings isn't one and the same. Plus she flat out says she never knew him and was weirded out by his talk of knowing her when they had that meeting in the swamp in the late 30's.

 

By far the worst. Ive hated the optimus prime series and this was the final nail in the coffin. Terrible art and making up story telling for the sake of it.
Now, we have to contend with the fact that Arcee that he/she was galvatrons brother. Ive really been despising Optimus the last little while, ever since
All hail Optimus as his character has gotten weaker and weaker. Not looking forward to first strike.

A lot of history and easter eggs in this issue and did anyone notice the Talisman in the background?

 

#42, and she doesn't say that; in fact, she says that she knows what he is. Plus, I think that exchange about "brotherhood" was a pretty knowing "wink, wink nudge, nuge" for both of them.

Regardless, even if she'd somehow forgotten when she first met him, I believe Arcee's talking about her brother's death and anger at Optimus for killing him makes it pretty clear she'd remembered by the end.

She first talked to Prowl about it in exRiD #56, and she's clearly been wary of Optimus since.

 

Ah ok thanks it's odd that she still on his team but I guess she forgave him when each issue past

 

I seems like Galvatron and Arcee had a major falling out at some point, possibly prior to (or because of) Arcee joining up with Jhiaxus. Looking back at their interactions, it definitely seems like whatever personal issues they had between each other had long ago been settled. I wouldn't be surprised if Galvatron had a "my brother is dead" mentality towards Arcee, and with Arcee very comfortable having renounced her previous identity, she may have felt the same. I really hope we can get more insight into this relationship at some point.
