His alternate mode is faithful, now let's see his robot mode. I'm guessing there'll be a WFC/FOC influence.

I'm betting it will be regular Bee but with VW parts instead of Camaro parts.

 

I just really hope this ends up being a good movie... I'm a fan of movies set in older time periods so that's a plus for me.

Honestly would've liked to see one off-centered black stripe down the hood though.

 

I'm expecting a bot mode no too dissimilar to the one he has when sporting a Camaro- but with VW parts.
He'll still have door wings.

 

This makes the assumption that they are the same weight as their actual vehicle models, ie Bee's Camaro weighs 3,800 lbs like a regular Camaro. The reality is that they could be much heavier than their actual vehicles since they're big.

The movie designers try to fill the volume of the vehicles that will not be occupied by humans. This means they take into account the empty space in the vehicle's cabin, while disregarding the gaps between the mechanical parts under the hood and the space in the trunk (except for a character like Ironhide, who has an open trunk). Moreover, their skeletons - or protoforms without armor (like when they landed in the first film) - are incredibly hollow, with gaps throughout the metal framework. These gaps are just hidden by their vehicle paddings.



Look at Bee's legs, feet, and forearms closely, and you'll see tha under the padding, his body is actually pretty hollow. Sorry for the large image btw.

This all in all means that yes, though they slightly have always cheated (using the trunk as a place to store extra mass), for the most part, they can accurately maintain the same amount of volume (because volume, not mass, is the real question here) in both of their modes.

Go watch the transformation scene where Bee first meets Sam and Mikela in person, and he transforms into vehicle mode. Despite bee appearing to big for his vehicle mode, they actually do a fantastic job at maintaining the same amount of volume as possible. Of course, the seats are probable as hard as steel with a thin layer of leather over it and the trunk is probably filled with robot parts, but all in all there is no mass cheating.

However, it seems that this all went out the wayside in the 4th movie, where Lockdown has to be obstructed by fire just so the transformation to be believable.

I am liking what I am seeing. It'll be neat seeing Movie Bumblebee with Volkswagen parts. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but personally, if this movie is as much fun as The Last Knight was to me, I'll be one very happy fan.

Better than forcing a simplified look into it,that would ruin it.Having a regular form in the World War and then having a more simple design in the 80's...but that's just me.

You're right the movies do have their own brilliant soul   And your opinion matters and no one can tell you that you have no validation to speak just because they disagree with you.
I do think the film will still stay true to Bayformers own essence tho.

 

If he looked like this in WW2 he won't look like some G1 or FOC design turd, sorry to burst bubbles lol

 

I know it's for camera angle shot purposes, but I really wish the chair on the bug's roof would transform into a crane/boom for BB in bot mode  

also, let me just emphasize how refreshing it is to see a TF based on a vehicle mode that isn't beautified or high end. Nothing wrong with supercars, but this definitely feels like a throwback to the "robots in disguise" mantra with simplicity.

All I can think about is how badly I want this movie Bumblebee toy. It could be a deluxe, voyager or even a leader class, it doesn't matter. I need it.
