Wow, captured prey selling these guys essentially at (apparent) cost to them is interesting...

If they got them during the sale, the cost to them per figure is about $136. So that leaves $29 for your "free" shipping. I wouldn't exactly begrudge them, though, since they're apparently doing TRU's job for them.

Just got one today and sadly one half of the cab won't stay shut in truck mode. My TRU is about an hour drive away and I only saw one left on the shelf. I'm really bummed out by the QC issue and will be returning him, I don't even know if I'm going to replace it, part of me feels like this is the last straw for me buying Hasbro products.

This is the most expensive Transformer I've ever bought and also the most disappointing.

Well I took the trip back to TRU today, the people in the store were amazing to deal with and extremely understanding. I opened and checked 3 of them before finding one where the chest would stay closed in truck mode. It ended up having some minor paint flaws but it's stuff I can fix myself.

2 of the ones that I opened were fresh from the case and their boxes were smashed. I watched the TRU clerk take them out of the case and it was not her fault whatsoever. They came like that from the factory, the outer case box had no damage.

In the end I am happy with the toy, but it may very well be the last time I buy a Hasbro branded Transformer.

Aww, really?!? That's a shame. MP10 is a good toy, just feel that you got a dud copy and that really sucks.

They let you open and transform 3 of them? That's cool you finally got one, but kinda sucks for the next 2 people to buy one from them.

After seeing the consistent damage to all of the boxes, I'm starting to think these were all ones that made the trip to SDCC and then packed up and sent out to stores when they didn't sell. That or the train carrying the shipping container from the boat to the distribution center derailed.

After seeing them come freshly out of the case already smashed I think it was just due to the thickness or type of cardboard Hasbro used for the box coupled with an overly tight fit in the case. The cardboard they used is really soft and hard to handle without denting it or bending it.

I was extremely careful with all the copies I handled, and when I asked what she was going to do with them she said she would probably mark them down as damaged. I doubt there's any way a MISB collector would want any of those copies that were left at the store because of how damaged the boxes were. I feel bad for opening all those copies but after reading how widespread the issues seem to be with this figure at least the next guys will get a discount on those severely flawed figures. I myself would not have kept it if I hadn't found one where the windows would stay shut.

Not sure if this will work for any one else but I had the same problem with one of MP-10's chest doors not closing in truck mode. If I rotate Primes head panel up slightly in truck mode the doors both close. I then can push the head panel back down and everything will stay into place. Not sure why this works but it works for mine.

So I managed to find one a couple of weeks ago at a local TRU. After some back and forth on if I should be keeping it, I decided today I was opening the box. And wow...I now understand why 3rd party is so popular. This thing looks sloppy. Right off the bat I open it up and the autobot decal on the trailer is just mangled. I start to look around and notice that the yellow on the cab lights are just hit and miss, some fully painting while others aren't. Also looks like there was a drip or something because I have a squiggly line of yellow paint right on the chest area. I've bought KO's for 35 bucks that were more carefully painted. Also can see where there's possible chest issues like mention above. I just can't justify $160 on this. Shame too, I really like the light blue/more cartoon look of this figure. So if you feel like you're missing out, you're not

I had to swap my first one out. Luckily Toysrus had another. The chrome on the matrix cover was scratched to hell and back. I thought I could live with it at first but just couldn't for 160 bucks.

And yet that brown box STILL manages to be in better shape than the TRU Hasbro MP-10 packages. :lolol

Toys "R" Us in the 1980's: "Where A Kid Can Be A Kid!"

Toys "R" Us in the present day: "We Just Don't Give A Sh*t!"

In all fairness, given what's been posted, it's apparently Hasbro's fault for the damaged packaging. Flimsy cardboard along with a plastic tray that offers no added support that contains a rather hefty figure is not a good combination to begin with.

Finally managed to get my hands on the Hasbro MP-10. Local stores were out of stock but a Craigslist seller had some on hand. Surprisingly, the box was in decent shape. The chest has a bit of a gap but I can live with it. Now I understand why people love this figure - it's amazing.
