Thor, captain America, the hulk, and iron man.. all of whom had their own movies, in iron man's case 2 at the time. All having post credit scenes hinting at an avengers movie, then it finally came to fruition and all of them came together and really sparked a giant franchise. And now DC And transformers are both taking their own stab at a cinematic universe. I honestly don't see how you couldn't understand the hype. Transformers were nothing like it. Transformers are all basically one-off movies that pay little mind to their previous movies and are also critically poorly reviewed. Marvel worked and planned to get to where they are. Paramount, hasbro, and Bay just decided to wing it and make it up as they go. I love transformers too, but they don't blind me to the obvious success of other franchises, and they certainly don't dissuade me from enjoying those other franchises.
I never had any interest in thor or captain america, (I actually did want a captain america movie at one point but it took so long I lost interest) and the hulk movie was so bad everyone completely forgot about it.
