Thank you @G1 Evac for letting us know about this and to @allew for suggesting @SirToys as a source as I too have requested one via Paul which I will pay for on payday at the end of this week! I was going to try and custom a Devcon from this mould using my now retired Scourge but this is a lot better option for me as my paint skills are not so good! The head sculpt on this looks way better than the one used on the official Botcon version, very nice. Roll on payday!
Yea my mistake maybe a handful but not like your usual ko where you will have hundreds. I still have a very hard time believing this is a "ko" and not some rejects with the platinum head slapped on them.
I don't think Devcon is officially listed in the store, just a temporary listing for those who put him on their want list: Devcon Botcon 2014 KO
The bodies may possibly be factory rejects but the heads look like a new run and not simply the Platnum heads slapped on. I have the Platinum set and that head is a darker blue that doesn't match the colors of Botcon Devcon.
I have both in hand, and the colors are not a 100% match. The KO has a lot of very slight mold dimples where the original plastic finished very smoothly and flat. What is most telling is that the autobot symbol is different, the KO's look a little more movie-ish and has different thicker-or-thinner elements vs the original. My experience is most people "have a very hard time believing" in high quality KOs, and somehow think the Weijiangs, KuBianBaos, BB7s, etc are very special and unique cases for skilled Chinese factories. Especially if they are told that the 1st batch TLK toys they bought or the early batch Titans Return legends class toys they got are KOs. So I leave them be. Doesn't really matter to me if you know your toy is KO or not, and I don't think I need to go out of my way to convince people to maintain truth and justice in the world. That said, I can totally imagine QC being normal human beings with decent eyes taking a look at those Botcon Devcons and scream "ARGHH! These heads are the fugliest and most disgusting and most vile thing I have ever seen, they MUST BE REJECTED!", rip off those horrible Botcon duck-lipped heads and burning them into oblivion, then tossing thee headless Devcon bodies into the reject bin. Yeah, that could very well have happened and for a while headless Devcon bodies were indeed sold on Taobao but they sold out very quickly and I never wanted one. But I don't think these KO Devcons are made from those bodies, the colors, plastic finish and autobot symbols do not match. Yep, nobody ripping off Sweep heads from platinum boxsets just to put onto devcon bodies! As shared above, the colors do not match. And what would they do with those poor headless sweep bodies, or those opened platinum boxsets? Feels to me this KO Devcon is more like the endless supply of Chevrolet Swerves, just somebody capitalising on collectors demands after chancing on the original molds or files. Just like the KO SG Optimus Primes, KO PCP, etc. Why didn't they KO the Devcon with the ugly Botcon sausage-mouth head? Too ugly. There's no demand for ugliness, like most other poor-excuse-for-a-new-weird color botcon toys (who wants a blue rattrap?) they are not sought after by Chinese fans save for a very very small handful of very very special fans who buys botcon toys only because nobody else buys them, for boasting rights. And they probably only had access to Hasbro files or molds.
Once mine comes in I'll probably hit the face with a silver sharpie to take care of the overspray around the eyes
gotta say, thanks for mentioning this taobao agent, not only was i able to find this devcon but i was also able to find the chms punch/counterpunch for a decent price, hopefully i can snag it (it required a quote)
I guess you tell them what you want, order it and pay for it via them, it gets sent to them, then when it arrives they check the postage cost, let you know and then ship it out once you pay the balance. Very handy, and one more avenue to use for picking up HTF 'bots. If this one goes smoothly I may order a shit-ton of Sharkticons
Yep, that's my take on it. I was trying to go direct from taobao at first but was running into frustrations. Bhiner got my devcon today, now they're just waiting on my Punch counterpunch and I'll be able to ship!
Got my ko devcon in yesterday, this thing is pretty good quality, I can't really tell nut I think mine might have less of the blue overspray around the eyes, also got a chms punch counterpunch in the same box so yesterday was a good day!
