Confirms there are no deco changes in robot mode for the bee 3 pack 

 

Can someonw tras late prices for Primus? It might honestly be cheaper then hasbro's.  

 

Really wish Takara had done something different and more "premium" with that deco for Primus. Just not a fan of the TLK colors. I never owned that particular mold before and it doesn't look like I'm going to with this release.

It's called "putting a modern take on it"? Like, Optimus isn't the same flat-nosed truck he used to be. And car licenses are reserved for MP (the expensive collector stuff) and movies (the thing that makes a butt load of money). Why bother doing it with a $10 toy?

It's an old car. The only people who'd "get it" are people who were around when that car a big thing, or someone like me, who knows that old TFs were a specific kind of car.

So, did anyone notice the red Lambo behind LG Perceptor? Super tiny pic. Most likely it's MP-12+, but any chance that's the first repaint for MP-39?

Modernizing only works when the new form makes sense. Camaro BB, for example, is not the same character as VW BB: Camaro has power to match the enthusiasm, which changes the feel entirely. That's why the alt mode matters. Changing it to "modernize it" only makes sense if it evokes the same tone of the character. The recent Legends release looks like a foreign street racer to me; the VW wasn't known for its speed.   Different car --> different feel --> different character. My point, earlier, was that the other minibots had alt forms like this already. All they did was switch BB's alt form, NOT "modernize" it. Bumper or Hubcap could easily have this Legends mold. Slapping BB's face on their body is almost sacrilegious, if you care at all for the difference between the minibots!

Still, I mentioned marketability of the character: the VW mode is distinctive and still featured prominently in the non-toys (think stickers, shirts, etc.). So it's true: VW BB is very recognizable.

This "modern" version of BB is slightly recognizable, but a whole lot more generic (think Chinese KO!). It's true we don't see many VWs on the road anymore, but that just makes the alt mode stand out better, when you think about it. A generic, foreign street racer? Or a cheap 2-door? Just not the same. For one thing, I bet these cars could lap the original VW. The appeal of BB was in his abundance of spirit juxtaposed by his physical limitations. The VW conveys that characterization better than this current design, imo. Also, the VW was never trendy in the 80s - it was known as a "PUNCH BUGGY".   So there was a bit of humiliation tone, in that BB not only had a weak alt mode, but it was also a stupid/embarrassing alt mode! And THAT is what made him so lovable, imo.   Absolutely NO ONE in the 80s pulled up in their VW Beetle, expecting to get the ladies. It was an embarrassing car. (Because you can soup up the current BB alt mode, it isn't as bad at all. Depending on the configuration, BB could be a pretty fast car! And that's not right!)

 

Y'all talkin about Titans Return Bee? Who's, like, a hatchback? I'm pretty sure a hatchback is closer to a Beetle than a Camaro.

I was checking if Copstreaker had any official name in TF and couldn't find anything. I've been trying to think of names but nothing's really popping. I kinda like Pursuit or maybe Chase as a slight nod to Chip.
