Yeah that's what I thought too. I wish this guy was problem free. I also wish i could see the future to know what else was coming out and when.

This was more than helpful, thank you. Another member never got back to me (r00d) regarding good color choices (brand x color number) for the gold accents and the blue feet stripes, so if you do decide to paint the figure up, please list your materials and procedure, thank you

Is it possible to remove the sun visors and perhaps shave some plastic in the crevices so you can just replace them with the ball-jointed ones from the ROTF mold?

While I don't have it in hand yet, I actually feel he's not harsh enough. If they completely failed (like the original "masterpiece" movie starscream and bee) it's less aggravating... but having such a phenomenal design and engineering, yet failing so badly in the last step with the tabbing issues (maybe factory issue?) and yet still deciding to release it instead of fixing it (assuming they knew about it... they had to IMO).

Given my temper I'd likely get very harsh in my comments when I get my hands on it and see the tabbing issues first hand...

Given what @Lukelbs has done, I feel much better about the robot mode now. His chest mod hits two birds with one stone, and lets the chest sit lower while letting the abs tab in more securely. And if he can figure out a way to make the blue panels tab in with his configuration for the red fenders, then the back will look good too.

At that point, the only things that would need fixed (for me) would be the loose hip joints and the sun visors

I kind of want to buy this thing again

They just failed in the most to reach the point where the people need to mod the toy.
That's just shows how badly designed is this guy.

I used a dremel tool, but an exacto knife would work if you have a relatively steady hand.
First off, I fully extended the ab peices so they were out of the way. Tabbed the shoulder/ windows down into their proper place, held them there as I folded in the ab/ hood parts. I marked on the tab where to make the cut to make it an F shaped tab.

To get into that area, you untab the ab /hood parts, and shoulder/windows and then you can rotate the ab /hood parts into a workable position.

Make the cuts and then all done!
    The results are great!

If you have a dremel, these are the cutting wheels I used. They are the perfect width for the cut.

I don't know why people keep saying "badly designed." The design of the figure is fantastic, it's the production that's been messy.

I'm not talking about the tab issues, it has nothing to do with all the problems in the figure overrall.

-Is the enormous gap in the chest.
-The bad location where the abs should tab (lukelbs what he did is cut the ab).
-The backpack panels not being secure to tab.
    -Inaccurate ab shape and position.
    -Inaccurate flames location.
    -Inaccurate side windows.
    -Inaccurate shoulder pads.
    -Undersized crotch proportions.
    -Smaller smokestack.
    -Inaccurate headlights position.
    -Inaccurate backpack shape.

The leader almost did everything i said properly, plus the peterbilt mold is better, yeah, it has an enormous backpack, but it had the enough balance to make a proprerly accurate robot mode.
And as you know and as @Actar said, it was made for the children publuc 8 years ago.

Okay true but to be fair, a lot of those arise because it doesn't use faux parts. And the smokestacks are small so they look better in robot mode. No sacrifice, no victory

I agree! The design is amazing, but just something happened between the designing and producing of this figure.

That's the problem, they didn't used faux parts, ended being aesthetically UGLY, mp-10 uses faux parts, mp-36 uses faux parts, and by that they look good, if the mp-10 have used the same grill of the vehicle, it would look ugly.
Here the thing is that the cgi model cheats too.

    Totally agree man!

I think the design for this thing sucks. You can tell whoever did this probably barely ever touched a ROTF Leader Prime, wasn't enough of a Movie Optimus fan to care to get the little things right, and they didn't think ahead about how a DOTM version would have to work with this design. Hopefully someone else does the front of the truck, chest, arms, and backpack all over again when they get to the DOTM version.

This thing is like an '08 Leader Optimus toy. Then the '09 Leader was designed(by someone who wasn't too proud to use faux parts and make it look right) so the '08 got cancelled, but then they were ordered to add electronics to it. :)

Yup. Same goes for the Beast Wars MPs. Huge cheats, but both modes end up looking abso-freaking-lutely phenomenal. If the source material/CGI model cheats, so can the toy.

I don't know how actually would work a DOTM version, they did wrong to make pegs in the diecast parts for the abdomens to tab, the guy whoever who designed this didn't thought how would work a DOTM version for it.

They should make a WHOLE new figure, because the design in this guy is poorly done, not even fixing rhe QC issues would make him that good.

That's why AlienAttack decided to make a new whole mold instead of making a knock off of this guy.

Well, for a DOTM version, the die-cast ab piece would need to be remade as well regardless.
