I actually really love what they've done with the bot-mode canopy (and I wish the translucent option on FT's Kup looked that good). It gets the look of the toon while also matching TT's MPs, which an opaque canopy wouldn't. For alt mode I'm fine with the same treatment, though only if there's no way to get any internal cockpit details. Which is what I'm assuming at this point, since IIRC we haven't seen any pictures of an opening, detailed cockpit.

 

I think hot toys did a pretty good headsculpt. Maybe a 3rd party can downsize this?

 

I won't get all worried about the head just yet. Maketoys always gets slammed for headsculpts on their early rough prototype reveals. Every time. Then they get to work on producing the thing. And at the end of the day I do not have a final production Maketoys figure with a headsculpt I don't like. Many of them turn out pretty great.

 

This will be my first Maketoys MP so I'm glad to hear that. All the same, I'd encourage people to discuss, analyse, post digi's and generally make their feelings known on that or other issues with any prototype (in a polite way of course). If no-one tells these companies there's a problem, they won't know they need to fix it. I get frustrated by all those people who come on the boards and rail at those of us who analyse and criticise (this is not directed at you @StrangePlanet ) holding themselves up as somehow better because they don't do that. Simple fact is that with out feeedback, companies don't improve and neither do their products. Rather than calling them whiners and putting them down, we should consider that we wouldn't have the level of quality and design we do today without digi's by @Psychoshi and @Cheebs or detailed analysis by @David Hingtgen and @TigerBlade, and all the others who point out every inconsistency and flaw, and just as important, the many many people who post agreement and reinforce to the manufacturer that their is a problem. If you see an issue, call it out. If others agree with you it may be fixed. If you say nothing, it ain't going to change. /rant... and we now return to the Transformers.

 

I have faith that MT will get the head right. At any rate a subpar had bothers me a lot less than the subpar molds we have now. It's kind of the old thing about what's more important, beautiful face or hot body? The right body can make up for an average face, and I think that's the situation here. It would have to be a misshapen face indeed - like Quasimodo level - to ignore having a Starscream who's not a brick. My 'Scream and Skywarp are the older versions of the mold too so I feel some urgency to replace them. I don't feel so strongly about replacing my newer mold Thundercracker, and I don't have any of the Coneheads (save Yes Model Thrust, which imprived on the TT mold) so no conflict there.

 

not sure i like the gold chrome opaque cockpit. should be translucent orange-ish grey. head might still be a little off. bottom line is if this is decent i'll get it to replace starscream mp-11 as teh leader he should get new upgraded body first right? if its really good and has a decent price i'll replace the original 3 seekers (again). well i should say add...because i still have almost all my seekers (mp3/6/7, igear, mp-11, mp-11 variants/kos).

 

Is it just me or does it look like any amount of waist swivel is going to cause the top three cockpit/canopy sections to be misaligned with the small bottom fourth section?

 

I started with the original seeker mold and then started over and moved up to the newer ones with the coneheads. I could see getting this *one* because I'm a big Starscream fan but I don't know who's out there that would want to restart the seeker collection all over again. Not me anyhow.

 

If only humans had swappable face plates, we'd finally have an answer for that  

 

Of course you are going to restart the seekers. Then you'll get the toon-accurate Optimus Prime, then the toon Datsuns, then...

I am starting to suspect that the Transformers are just an ingenious way of selling me toys.

 

He looks incredible. When is the release date?

 

Not necessarily. They could do a new Starscream and call it a day, as iconic as he is, I'm sure they will.

It would suck if they were to redo them all, say early next year, but who am I kidding, I would buy them alllll!

 

Okay, I have to repost this since people didn't read the news I had below my pics, but Brandon from TCP told me it's going to be out before Oct. Tfcon, so it either in the mid/late September period.

Which is why I think you see Thundercracker and Skywarp and they peace out on that mold.
