Well, I mean, there's not really anyone who doesn't have internet nowadays and I find it hard to believe there'd be all that many kids who'd want the ROTF toy over the TLK in the first place: I know when I was a kid I always wanted the most current look of a character and never had all that much interest in older versions. Being new to Transformers shouldn't be a problem because, again, the last reissue of the mold was only a couple of months ago.

But you're assuming a release of the ROTF mold would be cheaper than what recent reissues are. I can't see it getting any cheaper than what the recent Movie The Best reissue was, especially if you wanted the recent updates to the mold (and God knows there'd be even more complaining if they didn't have the improvements). If the price isn't all that different it means the only real reason for wanting a regular retail reissue is because you don't like buying online... and in this hobby you're just going to have to accept that you'll miss out on a LOT of stuff if you take that stance.

The fact remains that, regardless of which mold is more popular among fans, the ROTF mold is much easier to access than the 07 mold. Really the ROTF mold is up there with MP10 and Classics: it'll always have an upcoming reissue in some form.

There's also the MPM coming out soon, which is an update of the ROTF toy in a lot of ways. I can understand if Hasbro doesn't want two expensive products depicting the same character in the same form with a similar size and transformation scheme competing with one another. The only real justification for that would be if this reissue used the DOTM retooling sans the accessories the mold as collected via the Striker, Perfect, Jetwing and The Best reissues (but presumably WITH the wrist blades that were taken out by that tooling?)... and that's kind of a whole other request on itself.

I had to pay aftermarket for every version I own (which really is two officials; admittedly I went for two KOs just to experience the mold at first). And a Hasbro release with snazy redeco like this thing has would still be nice. It's certainly been done quite a few times but the a good chunk of them have been limited releases (even some of the ones that weren't like Striker are rather difficult to obtain.)
Starscream Gaga brings up one very good point in that the MPM is about to hit anyway so the "best possible representation" kinda renders releasing the ROTF mold a bit moot now.

I agree with using the 2007 mold since it's the 10th anniversary of the 2007 film. I'm just saying that for folks who wanted to buy the rotf mold, there weren't as many opportunities to get it in America as there were in Asia and Asia got more features and stuff with that mold than we did.

If 2007 characters/molds are on the "rerelease table"for the 10 anniversary, then they should make repaints of guys whose molds have shot up in price, like Bonecrusher, deluxe and leader brawl, HA Barricade and HA Jazz.

But over the course of these upcoming anniversaries, I'd like to see Hasbro make good with the American fans and sell stuff like dotm soundwave, ha soundwave, dotm que, ha mudflap, etc. Basically release repaints or reissues of rare and cancelled US stuff. It would sell. We know it would.

    Thank God someone gets it.

Especially Deluxe Brawl! His arm tabs have been fixed with the Deep Desert version so I think maybe they could just take what they learned from that remold and repaints it back to its original 2007 colors with more detail. That is what I would pay as $19.99.

Well, until 2019 and 2021. We'll just have to see if they continue the whole Tribute thing. It would be nice though.

Bonecrusher has shot up in price? Bonecrusher? Seriously?

He and Swindle clogged pegs here for months, effectively killing the line.

I've seen used regular bonecrushers sell for $20-50 and sealed ones sell for $50-70+. The jungle repaint sells for less but the one from HFTD that came with recon ironhide sells for even more. You gotta remember that there aren't any bigger bonecrusher figures so any of his deluxes is the only decently sized representation you can currently get.

Red Swindle also sells for $10-20 new or used depending on how much somebody wants it. A MISB 2007 arcee or 2007 longarm are also $25-30. Movie figures are going up in price, despite the films going down in quality.

Sigh. Totally missed my point. People point to the addition of electronics and sounds to some of these toys (even if they were originally released as such like this) as a means to justify part or even more of, the price hike.

So yes, being able to buy a fucking $5 toy with sounds and electronics clearly show you that it's pennies in the grand scheme.

It's moreso the density and parts count of olden days, plus charging more to bring the mould back out of the shadows. It's not because electronics suddenly double the price of the figure (here's looking at you MP Shockwave, having no business being that price, even though that was everyone's excuse).

Poor show Takara, I would have expected a reissue of the Premium Series version. What's happened to their movie releases of late? AOE/AD was such a step up from previous lines.
