Finally saw TLK. It was better than AOE, but not by too much.

It’s pretty much the same plot elements from across the series: Decepticons looking for hidden mystical artifact, humanity acts to save itself and rejects Autobot support, Transformers have a major part in Earth’s history, the main antagonist is from ancient history, giant planet appears threateningly close to Earth, overall humans get more time than the robots. But as usual, the now-average plot is balanced out by awesome visuals and action.

    GOOD
While humanity is still against the Autobots, it’s less vindictive than before and the TRF is able to end itself and put its faith in the Autobots.

Sir Edmund Burton was awesome. These films do great with cool old guys (Archibald Witwicky, Jetfire, Sentinel Prime, maybe Attinger).

Cogman is one of the best parts of the film. He’s an eccentric butler bot who can kick butt and prepare dinner on a submarine. I’d enjoy seeing more of him, especially if he does his Headmaster thing as intended.

Izabella was decent, I thought she might be an obnoxious kid causing trouble for her allies but I was thankfully proven wrong. She wasn’t necessary but she wasn’t really a pain either (except when she taunted Megatron), she had enough depth and character to be okay.

Glad to see some of the Decepticons being showcased. It’s about time they got screentime to show off in (though sadly most of them get killed off in one battle). Mohawk was pretty cool.

The final battle was in space and another world. Finally we get a battle that’s technically off planet.

    BAD
The film tries to be like part of a cinematic universe, with an angle that Unicron is the reason all Cybertronian activity comes to Earth. It doesn’t really work out IMO, each film is too divided with their own continuities. I also consider it a shame to actually feature Unicron the Transformer Apocalypse and go the Prime route with him (inside the Earth), and actually do less than TFP did; there was a planet approaching Earth for goodness sake.

I also thought Quintessa was a not very impressive villain, in relation to the above point.

Optimus has very little time in this. His Nemesis Prime arc turned out kind of meaningless IMO, Sentinel Prime had been more effective in DOTM.

The Headmaster gimmick was meant to appear in the film, I’m sure of it. But instead of Cogman, Bee is the one whose body falls apart and puts itself back together.

Where did Grimlock’s Dinobot team go? Why replace them with those babies instead? They would have been really effective, especially since they’re supposed to be knights too.

Overall, I was satisfied with the film.

It seems the more I think about what this movie tried to do the more frustrating it gets.

The subject of which the movie was named, "The Last Knight" is actually fucking COMPLETELY irrelevant. Jesus Christ.

So they made the story about Cade being this "last knight" because he "earns" this talisman (yeah right) and is....supposed to do what exactly? Seriously just stop and think: what the hell is Cade's role in this movie? Seriously....what is it? He's deemed important but it turns out he doesn't do a damn thing. The story, human wise, should've been focused on Vivian. It honestly should've been JUST Vivian and Hot Rod. Why Cade is involved is just the writers trying to(extremely poorly) tell us that Cade is the hero and he's important somehow. What does he really do? Block an attack on optimus that optimus himself should've blocked? Like why was Prime written to accept such a dire consequence as death in that scene.

Ugh this movie. This movie makes Kruger the fucking BEST case scenario for coherent writting. Because after the scene where the knights hold up their swords to acknowledge Cade as tlk, the story instantly shifts to being about Vivian saving the day...even though optimus is the one who got rid of quintessa which even allowed Vivian to take the staff so that in itself is a invalid plot point.

This movie is a serious insult to my intelligence.

I think what's more frustrating is that the movie doesn't even work all at that well as a mindless popcorn movie.

Seriously, the moment you think an action scene is about happen, it's either
    a) too brief
    b) no build-up

Even the best one which was Prime vs Bee was lackluster because Prime was absent for a lot with no real development along with Bee not having much focus in the second act which is where we sit down for human shenanigans. That fight needed all the emotion it can get from us because it's two of the main characters going head to toe.

At least ROTF has stuff like the forest battle or Bumblebee vs Rampage to make for some entertainment.

Exactly! Literally every single fight scene in this movie came up entirely short. The final battle was nothing BUT a ROTF Egypt battle rehash with the soldiers shooting at God knows what and the autobots vs Megatron would've been perfect had they actually focused on that fight instead of wondering what Cade and Vivian are up to. Also, where in the hell was crosshairs? He had no reason to be absent from battle. After all that complaining about not seeing any action in the junkyard he literally gets only one scene where he does something.

I've said it before and I'll proudly say it again, this movie deserves to bomb.

Look I genuinely, genuinely hope that the Bumblebee movie shows me more of what you can do with the franchise. I joined the site for a reason after seeing the first movie and so on.

Even people like Peter Jackson couldn't hold on any longer with entertaining us with the Hobbit trilogy. This is why I think franchises survive better with new directors each time. Alvin and the Chipmunks understood to give different people a go... And OMG, I just put Alvin and the Chipmunks as a highlight. :/ Well at least, they had some different directions taken even if it is the same overall.

I have the same hopes. I've loves the previous movies the same and thought AOE knocked it out of the park but all TLK did was tell me Bay is through. And those writers are incompetent.

I'm hoping the Bee movie can change my mind and turn things around and then, if it does good enough, have tf6 totally make up for TLK.

Yes, and no. We are living on Unicron according to the movie and there is no Primus, just an evil Transformer creator goddess called Quintessa.

To everyone who complains about the Transformers not getting enough screen time, just remember that Unicron has been in nearly every frame of every film. :lol

I don't get what all the hate is over this film. Yes, TLK isn't the best Transformers movie (or action movie, period), but it's better than DOTM or AOE (both of which I found underwhelming; at least ROTF was fun to watch).

    1. The big reveal of the movie; that Earth was Unicron was brilliant. It was great to see the beginnings of his eventual emergence; the horns coming up from the surface.
    2. Cogman was hilarious. I laughed each time he did something, like then he accompanied the music. And Jim Carter did a superb job voicing him; you could tell he was having the time of his life.
    3. I really liked Hot Rod, Barricade, Megatron, Simmons and Lennox in this movie. It was also nice to see characters like Wheelie and the Dinobots again.
    4. Daytrader was also funny; although that could be because I'm a fan of Steve Buscemi.
    5. The Transformers were treated as characters and there was an attempt to give each robot a personality; the little Suicide Squad-esque Decepticon introductions were pretty funny to watch.
    6. Everything flowed logically. The scenes with only TFs were more than the scenes with only humans. The rest was humans and TFs there everything was about the Transformers (except for a very small percentage).
    7. The movie had very good humour and it seemed that they got the jokes right, much more than previous instalments did. They mostly flowed naturally.
    8. The movie had tension. The doomsday-feel was helped by the ominous soundtrack called "The Coming of Cybertron" playing in the background, the rest from both the scenery and Hopkins' speech. By the end of the movie, it felt like the villains were winning. And we even have to remember that not even Optimus can take out Quintessa (at least not alone).
    9. The NASA guy. Yes, he was annoying, but he was also funny.
    10. The fact that there were some breather scenes at the beginning and middle of the film; it really made the pace a bit more bearable.
    11. The story was easy to follow and the pace was good. And the G1 and TFP references scattered throughout the movie were nice little in-jokes which brought a smile to my lips.
    12. The movie clearly set up for later movies; there some plot-lines weren't explained on purpose. I liked that there was some stuff left open for a sequel, unlike AOE, which had to pull new plot threads out of its arse.
    13. The movie didn't feel like it was 2.5 hours, as the movie was finished before I even knew 1 hour had gone by.
    14. The final battle was great: Prime decapitating the Infernocons in one fell swoop was pretty awesome.
    15. The fact that the humans who stood against the Autobots regretted their actions, is rather heartwarming. It's nice to see some sort of progress in the TF's relationship with humanity.
    Negatives:
    1. Some of the Decepticons died too quickly for my tastes. For example, they should have kept Mohawk in the film for a little bit longer; I thought he was hilarious.
    2. There were some sex-jokes in the movie. It would have been better if they weren't there; mostly because, not that I'm a prude or anything, there were people bringing their children to see it. Though they weren't as bad as some critics say, nor that many. The worst one was on the sub, I am glad Cogman interrupted that one.
    3. The Nemesis Prime stuff was a minor part of the film. It would have been an interesting plot turn and the ramifications of it were not properly explored. Also, it was too easy to break Optimus free from his mind-control.
    4. Certain characters weren't in the film long enough; where do the Dinobots and Wheelie go in the second half? I presume they stayed at the scrapyard, but did the Autobots make a return trip to pick them up or did they just leave them stranded there?
    5. Unicron wasn't explained enough. However, I presume that's the job of the sequel.
    6. Some exposition would have been good; in particular, how Megatron and Quintessa came to be working together.
    7. This is more a matter of personal taste, but I thought it would have been nice if Daytrader had been a pre-existing character, like Swindle (who he greatly resembles in personality). In fact, Swindle being one of the Decepticons who had to go into hiding after Dark of the Moon would have been brilliant..

So, I finally came around to watch this movie. And ... it's not bad! This is with Dark of the Moon one of the best Transformers movies. The only thing that still bothered me at times, was the tone of the movies. The way most of the bots or humans talk. It was better than in previous movies, but still cringy at times. The bots had more screen time (although the humans could still play less of a role...), the story was kinda interesting... well there is one downside though, I basically watched it as a one-shot. Otherwise there are too many continuity questions. Like WTF IS WITH GALVATRON and HOW DID MEGATRON BECOME WHOLE AGAIN?

I kind of feel bad for this movie, that NOW when the box-office bombs, the film is actually better than before. Although they can still improve, but this one is really better than the other movies. I could not imagine that, after hearing all these negative reviews. I thought it was bad like all the others. Takes not much to believe that.

And the thing is, I watched a bad rip with chinese symbols all over it and bad sound quality. But it was still enjoyable. I had to watch it now, because you guys are putting spoilers everywhere...

Yes, that was the ONLY thing that left me with Questions!

Why does Anthony Hopkins have an Silver Optimus Prime Knight Statue in his office???

The Office should Mirror the Past, it IS Possible that some Characters (Like Iron Hide) left Earth, and did come back later (Movie 1)
But then an Optimus Prime in Knight Mode as well???

He just took that Form in TF4, the Form was a brand new one, and was displayed so Fast as a Silver Statue in the Office, very strange indeed.

Basically I could enjoy the spectacle of it. There were some fun parts and I think maybe no annoying TFs or humans this time (human over use is not the humans fault! :lol  )

    Highlights:

    Welkertron!
    Daytrader.
    Hound and Drifts banter.
    Cogman's BGM scene.
Sqeeks actually having that big gun for reals! :lol
Bumblebee talking (yeah i got a pang.. im disappointed with myself!:D  )

But it's a horrible mess of a story, I wasn't really sure what threads I was supposed to be following. And it's worst its ever been for TFs leading plot lines and disappearing left and right every time a fight finished. The fights were also underwhelming. Nothing close to the previous movies which all contained more than one hardcore lengthy bot on bot fight scenes.

I think AoE took some risks to try and fix things that fans wanted, but TLK ignored all that. It felt like a movieverse fans head cannon, that they'd not really got straight in their head (you know how head cannons are! :D  ), but somehow imprinted it Sadoko style onto some film!

I'd probably give it 3.5/10 and would only recommend it for people who enjoy 3D CGi spectacles and don't care about, or have the attention span to worry about, following plot threads.

I'd rank it 4th in the MovieVerse (1,4,3,5,2)

    Same opinion here.

TF4 was so awesome because the Military was left out.
TF4 had more Focus on Optimus Prime (That is what i want to see)
and sometime on Cade. Fights were also better and longer.

In TLK they made a Step Back again, and that is very sad.
TRF was ok i think, but the Military Influence overall was to much.

They ONLY thing i want for Transformers 6: DO NOT SHOW THE DAMN MILITARY Soldiers,
no one wants to see them, this is a Movie about Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, and all the other Bots.

No Place for Soldier Idiots running around all the time.

I hope the Plans from Paramount for Transformers 6 (that SHOULD finally show the Unicron Battles)
are still set in stone and not cancelled, but from what i heard, Bumbleebee is coming next Year,
    and TF6 in 2019.
