I just gonna go ahead and slowly back away from this thread before the hammer comes down on me again.

First off, a warning; This post is going to be long.  

Anyway, I have seen this movie twice, both times in 3D (there are no IMAX cinemas in my city). I really loved the movie, and thinks it's the best live-action so far. Though I may be biased as Unicron is in it.  

Anyway, time for the positives and the negatives:

Positives:

1. Unicron, just Unicron.  
   It was great to see his Spikes of Villainy - TV Tropes coming up from the surface. And despite what several critics says, the horns are not a sex-trope, and they even grows slowly. Yes, three meters per day is slowly then you are talking about something that is several kilometers long.
2. Cogman was hilarious. The audience in both viewing laughed each time he did something, like then he accompanied Steve's music.  
3. I really liked Hot Rod, Barricade, Megatron, Simmons and Lennox as well in this movie.  
4. The Transformers were treated as characters.
5. There was almost no filler in the movie. The scenes with only TFs were more than the scenes with only humans. The rest was humans and TFs there everything was about the Transformers (except for a very small percentage).
6. The movie had very good humor, seems they have nailed it this time (outside of number 2 in the negatives).
7. The movie got tension. From the moment we move into present, we get the doomsday-feel. Particularly helped by that ominous track called "The Coming of Cybertron" playing in the background, the rest from both the scenery and Hopkins' speech.
   Also, at the end of the movie it actually felt as the bad guys would win, as Cade came with his Big No then Optimus gave up. And we even have to remember that not even Optimus can take out Quintessa (at least not alone).
   
8. The NASA guy. Yes, he was annoying, but he unintentionally proved that humantech and knowledge does not save the day then going against Transformers supervillains. Not even the military could save the day. That was refreshing.  
9. I liked seeing The International Space Station, even though brief, as I love astronomy.  
10. The fact that it weren't battle from beginning to the end, but had some breathers in between, helped as I would be exhausted otherwise.  
11. The story was easy to follow, same goes for the plot. The pacing was fast due to the movie was about a global threat. Oh, the main-plot was heavily based on the 86 movie with a twist (I recognized many scenes from the 86 movie in there), with many other G1 references spread across the movie. Only Izzy and Unicron being Earth was not G1, but TFP (Izzy is like Miko).
12. The movie clearly set up for later movies, there some plot-lines weren't explained on purpose.  
13. The movie didn't feel like it was 2.5 hours, as the movie was finished before I even knew 1 hour had gone by.  
14. Infernocus was a great combiner, too bad we didn't see much of him.
15. The fact that the humans that has stood against the Autobots (at least the ones we saw in the movie) understood how wrong they were and regretted their actions, is rather heartwarming.  

Negatives:

1. Too much swearing, they really should have cut that down.
2. There was some sex-jokes in the movie. It would have been better if they weren't there. Though they weren't as bad as some critics says, nor that many.
   The worst one was on the sub, I am glad Cogman interrupted that one.
   Oh, and Belligerent Sexual Tension - TV Tropes was not needed at all. Why can't we have movies with relations-ships that don't turn out to be that trope?
3. Too much humans. The producers, Lorenzo in particular, for some reasons thinks the humans have been in the background the other movies, and are thus pushing them even more in the foreground.
4. The Nemesis Prime stuff weren't explored enough.
5. It was too easy to break Optimus free from his mind-control.
6. Not enough Dinobots.
7. Unicron weren't explained enough, so many movie-goers ended up thinking he was a good guy, then he's not. Also, I am disappointing that he's Earth, as I wanted him to transform (but it may turn out to be a better twist than TFP did). But, considered he's the Thanos of Transformers, and thus that there are more to him than the planet-eating part, hopefully they don't mess up his personality and stuff in later movies. Also, hopefully, he gets to do much more.

I think that was all.  

There are a strong possibility that the amount of swearing and sex-jokes are the reason the movie is for teens and up.

Oh, and can someone tell me which one was Steelbane? I first hear it's the pilot Cade meets, and then later I hear it's the one that almost kills Optimus. Which one is it?

Anyway, Then I saw the movie the second time, I noticed Quintessa screamed "Noooooooooooooooooooooo!" after she had been turned into electricity and was sucked downwards. I wonder if Unicron got her there.   Yes, we saw her later, but she may now be his slave and is lying about her mission to those scientists. Next movie will, hopefully, tell.

Oh, and in a sense, the bad guys won. Unicron won, didn't he? Since Quintessa was stopped.   Yes, the battle isn't over yet, but you get what I mean.

In movieverse, none so far. But Megatron (Galvatron, to be exact) was thrown out of a wall (Unicron's leg) at the end of the 86 movie. And he was used again.  

Well, maybe they knew of Unicron, and that part was about the ensuing chaos would wake him up and destroy all life on the planet.

That was the Infernocons, which combined to Infernocus. They are not Decepticons, but work for Quintessa. As Megs also worked for Quintessa, he was permitted to command them.

The actual Decepticons didn't look like each-other at all, and only Berserker had horns.

Optimus barely touches upon who Unicron is, the most we get of him is that Unicron is Cybertron's ancient enemy, and that he's dangerous. Simmons may or may not have gotten something about Unicron from that book, though. But yeah, they didn't do a good job on explaining Unicron.

It was lots of references to the 86 movie, which the main plot was based upon. And then we had references to "Dark Awakening" and "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court", both G1 episodes. Multiple other G1 references littered the movie.  

Oh, and Izzy is so Miko.

Indeed.   Unicron Battles would be awesome, if done right.  

She said the former, but as she is The Great Deceiver, who knows.   Though it did look like she was taken by Unicron at the end (a speculation on my part), so she might be working for him now. TF6 might tell us more about this.

Yes, they should have said more about him. Now though it seems that the only ones alive that knows Unicron is Earth, is; Optimus, Megatron. Quintessa (and maybe the scientists she talked to, not sure how much she revealed), and Simmons. I may have missed some. Optimus does indeed know what threat Unicron is, not sure on Simmons. The bad guys knows for sure.
And I believe that if you are not in the know of the TF lore, you would be more confused about Unicron as I have seen from many comments on other sites as well.

True, he's anything, but good. In fact, if he's not evil, no one is.  

Well, we do not know if the tectonic plates are part of him or not. But as the horns keep on growing he certainly isn't dead, it also shows that the horns are still attached to him. The movie even showed that he is responsible for Earth's magnetic field, meaning that as long as he's alive, Earth got that field.

He may be annoying, but him there proved that you can't defeat Transformers supervillains with human-technology as ours is just not advanced enough.   So I see that as a very needed part as I am getting tired of people underestimating Transformers by pretending that humantech can defeat even Unicron. Perhaps they now know better.  

Anyway, it was priceless to see him put down a few notch then he himself realized that humantech does not save the day.  

Yes, they could have explained more what Unicron is. I have already read that someone thought Unicron was good, which we know he's not. They may have missed the part there Optimus stated Unicron was dangerous in his ending speech.
About the namedrop for fans; This is yet another example for that TLK pandered to the TF fans, G1 first and foremost as the movie is requiring people to be TF fans to understand lots of what is going on. This may be why the movie isn't going so well, as it alienates the majority of the moviegoers.

I wonder as well. I even read that China indeed got 2 more minutes. Though that was only some more pandering to them.

I'm also guessing it had something to do with Burton firing a shot at Megs. That cane was small yet effective.

Man, imagine if this movie had any sort of personality.

1.soundtrack

3. CGI and visuals
4. medieval theme element

cons:
1. continuity issues, felt far removed from AOE
2. half assed action scenes and dialogue, missed opportunities
3. cheap same "save earth" plot structure
4. some plot points contradicting to AOE
5. rushed editing and pacing.
6. Intriguing promises by producers never shown in film
7. Lore was rushed in, weak intro to the TFCU
8. Most TFs underutlilized so no character development
9. too much pointless scenes, humans given important roles..

This movie was pushing all the buttons at once by mashing multiple stories into one.. We all know whos at fault for that....
TLK did not reflect the emotional hype from the Trailers and posters and we can all confirm that marketing gave the movie away.

 

I would have dropped everything to see The Last Failure if it actually had franchise gimmick name awareness like that.

 

The last kinght left me tired. I cant think of one thing nice to say. The pacing, acting, jokes and all charaters are awfull. I am so done so tired of this series.
I saw this for free and i want my money back.

 

This was literally the worst Transformers film so far, and I used to hate TF1 the most due to how boring it was at times but holy crap was this bad.

Now I enjoyed ROTF, DOTM and AOE so I was expecting more of the same you know, in fact I was hoping for a similar film to AOE with a small cast of autobots that had personality, one main villain, one secondary villain, generic deceptidrones so we don't get attached to named ones, good action scenes and just an enjoyable storyline.

But this film was just a mess of storylines, the transformers probably did next to nothing and I have no clue why that was the case we went for what seemed like hours without seeing the main group of Autobots or Decepticons. Whilst I did enjoy a few scenes I just left the film feeling so disappointed. I can't understand why people are saying this is more of the same, this is worse than the previous films it was such a jumble of storylines and was just awful.

I'm glad I saw it for free and I didn't pay to watch this garbage.

 

I'm going to preface this by saying that these are prettymuch in order as they appear in the movie, and this is the first Transformers film that I didn't see opening week. And I'm also going to say that I think everyone was overreacting with how bad it is (unless my expectations were so low that this seemed good by comparison). And right off the bat, I love the looks of the bots. They had some /killer/ designs.
Might as well jump in? (and I know a lot of you will disagree with some of this, but what else is a discussion board for? (NOT HOLDING ANY SPOILERS BACK fyi)

1. Knight in the drone ship, was he there during Chicago? And if so why does he look like a knight?
-Explained by Cogman later that he had just crashed there to deliver the relic
2. People were complaining that Canopy was underused and died in the first five minutes
-yeah, that happened. but they used him wonderfully to characterize Izzy. like look, we know a lot about her just from the scene where she's saving the kids (side note, someone mentioned that TRF killed him for no reason, Santos was told that Canopy was armed and with kids, which is when he changed his opinion from neutral to attack)
3. Barricade has red AND blue eyes
-I though this was a nice touch because he's a police car and 07 and DOTM only had red eyes. It gave me a chuckle and I enjoyed it.
4. When Bee fell apart the first time (don't get me started), where did the grapple mouth come from? I wish he would have used this in a fight to confused the hell out of cons, like the xenomorph can. (and on top of this, there were like three John Wayne lines used in this movie alone. which I thought was fitting)
5. New World Order. Somebody posted that Lennox was telling the crew that they were fucked (paraphrasing of course) when he said this. But what if he realized Cade's relationship with Bee and was subtly hinting "dude, we're on the same side and you're going against powers beyond your control", I personally think this is given power towards the end when Lennox was conversing with the people on the ground.
6. Another thing I've seen, Megatron is weak. Boy, he sure isn't weak in this movie. But WTF is up with the little spurts of fire from his flamethrower in the fit he was giving Barricade? Like, you're this amazing being with the ability to change shape at will with no limit and create undeterminable amounts of weapons and have powers that are only matched by a well revered character. But yet you throw a little fit? to me, it was just goofy and nobody has pointed it out. It wasn't even a full fusion blast, which I would have been okay with, it was like a little spurt of flame. (before I start rambleranting, I'm gonna move on. Just know that it was a joke)
7. I've seen people question how Prime got to Quintessa, he put himself in stasis and his autonav systems took over. That's why we kept hearing the message over. and over. and over.
8. Obligatory "Quintessa hit Prime, Prime get red mark, Megs has red mark, Megs listen to Quintessa the whole movie" point that everyone and their mother points out.
9. Last Knight is the one in drone ship, Cogman says "the knight arrived" about him.
(later explained that Cade is the last knight, due to some BS stipulations. if what they said is true, I have the qualities of a knight)
10. As with Izzy, everything you need to know about Vivianne is shown in her introductory scenes. Athletic, yet smart and refined. And I got an almost absent minded professor feel from her for a bit.
11. The camera drew too much attention to her car without showing her, so I assume Hot Rod is her car. Burton says "old friend" and taps the wheel, and we know it isn't Bee.
(later it turns out to be true, but it was way too obvious)
12. In the junkyard, with Crosshairs in the little floaty ship. He has no shadow! anywhere!
13. Obligatory "Grimlock is only dinobot in junkyard, why is he treated and acting like a dog" point. (old alien robot, doesn't know our customs)
14. Cade's conversation with the chief is the epitome of this franchise. "yes this is true, but it's racist coming from you" -hint, hint Skids and Mudflap- and it shows you how Cade's changed between movies.
15. Everything with Daytrader I thought was funny. "throw down with Hound" quote, the fact that Starscream's head was just decapitated and not blown up made me laugh, and the fact the Sulley and Randall were against each other again tickled me a bit.
16. Difference in Cade and Izzy's conversation, I saw a clip that said "they have infinite funding" or some form thereof and the movie said "they have the support of the entire US"
17. I'm not sure how long has passed between DotM and AoE, or again between AoE and TLK. But if Unicorn's horns were growing at 3m per day, and they're at least 400 m, then that means they've only been growing for just about 133 days (rough mental math). So practically four months. Does this add for you? (legitimately curious on this one)
18. Speed of light is 299, 792, 458 m/s or 6.706e^8 mph. a tenth of that first one is 29, 979, 245.8 m/s but that is much faster than it was going to hit Earth. given SUPER rough math, that would be about 346 days to go at that speed. unless Cybertron was MUCH closer than we were led to believe after DotM? (ignore this point for now)
19. Call to Tessa; was a nice touch for having that. It was a sweet moment and was the "Phil Coulson dying moment" to give Cade something to fight for.
20. Even Morshower and Lennox didn't notice Megatron going back to Megatron. Or they didn't care. But explanation would have been nice. Oh! The way he transforms is like if 07 and AoE had a baby with the parts of the jet just..... changing it random shapes, so KSI tech could still be in him. (but why change)
21. And let's not forget about Nitro Zeus, with memorable lines such as "Thank Megatron I'm free at last", "Thanks Tim for your hositality", "Brad say hello to your wife for me", and something about Enrique. "kicked more ass in prison", "you blew your chance to kill Unicron" (all of his speaking roles, and you can tell there were different VAs)
22. No shadow while drift was meditating on the cars.
23. Holo-driver on Mohawk was something we haven't seen in a while.
24. One thing on Sqweeks' toy was that random ass arm upgrade and I was wondering how they would pull it off. At least it's "explained" in the movie, albeit hamfistedly.
25. Bee rips out the voice box after the Siri "bullshit" <- to quote him
26. I love how the TRF drones looked like mini TIE fighters. kind of a nod (yes, a severe stretch) to the SWTFs.
27. Megs calls Sqweeks a Blue Beetle. not sure if he meant the bug or the character. but I prefer to think of it as the latter.
28. Onslaught=Ded. no fight. just ded.
29. Mohawk ded. Blown up by Bee, but still talks. (same take apart tech?)
30. Cogman was concerned when the drone took Cade away and showed that he cared with the "he just flew!" line (Cogman is my favorite bot now) and you can tell by the inflections how he feels
31. "C-3P0 ripoff" makes me wonder about mini TIE fighters now..... But sickreference.jpg
32. The whole deal with the leprechaun thing "lerechauns are small and green and Irish and that [taken as that he's English] is offensive" made me legitimately laugh.
33. Where is Cogman in the plane? He was "in the cockpit" with Cade but he..... wasn't. Just his voice. I tihnk this is him "showcasing" his headmaster ability. Which we are told about in the next scene. (just a theory)
34. Cogman checking out Vivianne after the stripper comment, was an adorable moment. (along with his eye twitching every so often)
35. Bullshit room is...... bullshit.
36. "making the moment more.... epic" with the organ music and opera was not what I was expecting from the comments on these boards, it as SO much better. and cemented him as my favorite (not to inlcude the burp noise when he shoots the mouth missile)
37. Is the Alliance a Transformer? "she knows where to take you" and then it goes without even Cogman operating her
38. during Optimus/Bee fight, Prime saves Cade by deflecting the hammer when Bee comes to smash him. Bee almost hit Cade. (showing there's still some good in him)
39. was the ship that the fight was on one of the ones from AoE? looked like it to me
40. HOW DOES BEE SPEAK! (look at point 25)
41. second time he reassembles, even stuff brutally torn off. how.
42. Burton dies, so it isn't a TF movie unless some shit happens to make them want to fight again
43. People comment on Cybertron's size changing. Quintessa uses what she has to make it whole again.
44. People also commented how Drift disappears, though he says he was piloting the ship, told be to get to his plane, jumped in another one, and was fighting Megs
45. Was also pointed out with a trailer that we couldn't tell what Hound and TRF was firing at, turns out it was a turret/Infernocons (why didn't they arrive already combined?)
46. Optimus slides by Infernocus' (what a waste) leg in the trailer (explains the size shifting between the leg and dragonstorm like we all thought)

AFTERTHOUGHTS:
Do breaks work in TF cars?
Three guardians awake in the ship, three subsequently die.
Six guardians on top of ship, ready to kill Prime. Six make dragonstorm (I counted every time they were on screen)

Bonus Prime lines:
I will kill you= twice
My planet/my world= five
My maker= three
I am...= five times
(don't see why they got so much hate, unless it was just because this is pretty much all he says)

and I think that's it.

 

I think Megatron's little fit with the flamethrower was classic Megatron upset over his henchmen's "incompetence" of letting the talisman.
Although when I watched it I was wondering if the red spores was affecting his sanity..er, what's left of it the way his delivery of the line sounded like he wasn't completely right in the head even for Megatron.
As Nemesis Prime acted a similar way in response to Cade's
Cade Yeager: But, we fight together.
Nemesis Prime: I-I fight for my own kind now!

Stammering at the beginning Optimus may have been still in there. It could be why he didn't kill any humans. Although Nemesis may have not seen them as a threat because of their size. As Opposed to the larger, but not that large Yellow challenger.

 

I didn't even think of Megs not being Megs.... excellent point!
and I only pointed it out because it was like, say, Joker sat there and flicked a lighter when Batman got the best of him. Megs should have at least blasted something (even Barricade) with at least some force.

 

Watching the Movie last night his voicebox goes into his Mouth piece not his throat on the part he ripped out.
Later during the UK Car Chase he had a siri sounding voice when he said "Decepticon detected or something.".

 

He said "In other news a Decepticon..." and Cade was like "What do you mean a Decepticon?!"lol

 

1.They adapted during Medieval age.He crashed in Chicago.

 

Then what DID he rip out?

 

1. The movie actually does say it crashed recently. I didn't catch that either. It wasn't a Chicago combatant. Still no explanation for what it was doing flying around.

3. Yup, like cop lights. Pretty cool.

4. Same place the little wheels in his neck stump came from.

6. Megatron always throws tantrums like that. It's him puffing his chest and intimidating Barricade. And it worked, seeing as Barricade takes a few steps back.

7. When does the movie ever explain he's in volunatry stasis or that his "autonav" exists and is guiding him? He's pretty clearly adrift in space under no propulsion. And if it was on purpose, why does he look like he's just been stabbed through the chest?

9. Nope, it's Cade. Sorry, but it's rather explicitly him. The Knight in the ship can't be the last one because it'd clearly old as hell. And if it's the last Knight alive, that's still BS because of Dragonstorm. That Knight isn't the last anything.

11. You say obvious like it wasn't supposed to be obvious.

20. Probably changed so he could, y'know, fly and look like himself.

22. Depending on the time of day he may not have had an obvious shadow.

33. Cade wasn't in the cockpit, he was in the gunner's seat. Those old timey war plans had little globes where gunners would sit. Cogman was in the actual cockpit above him.

37. Yes, it just never transforms, because the movie hates you.

39: Yeah, it's Lockdown's ship. Pitty they never, y'know, mention that.

40-41: Because this movie hates you.

43: Except even accounting for it being incomplete, the visible curvature of the remaining parts are ridiculously out of scale with the DOTM version.

44: But he's still absent at the very end. And while he does say he's flying, he's shown not piloting it several times while the ship is still flying.

Also, I have a question: Why couldn't this just go in the existing user reviews thread?
