Problem isn't little bonuses like the suspension/axle assembly or whatever. Problem is that the rest of the toy looks crappy. Majoring on the minors is worthless.

It's not simply an "anti-Humvee" thing either. The Fansproject Humvee Swindle looked pretty darn good and captured the "Swindle" feel very well. This Zeta Swindle just looks poorly executed.

$100 lipstick on a pig just means a pig with redder lips (do pigs even have them?).

How hard can it be to do a good sized combiner with a torso bot sized 1 head smaller than prime? Can't they just use a stretch piece that makes the torso part bigger so that the combined mode can be big without torso bots being fucking huge?

After a while, this humvee swindle grew on me and I am somehow starting to like it. It's just the stupid face that makes me think twice about buying him.

These look decent, albeit huge. Will Silverbot be FT's Phoenix sized? lol.

The combined mode seals or breaks the deal for me. I love combiners but they usually never get displayed individually on my display.

My guess is Silverbolt will be about the same size as the others. The extra height will be made up by the usual extreme parts forming that these designers do. I'm not saying I personally have a problem with it but I'm guessing there will be as much parts forming here as we've seen in Bruticus and Constructor.

I would think Silverbolt is the same size as thier onslaught with the limbs the size of starscream. And use the parts forming waist/thighs. Don't want a anorexic superion.

That's normally how I feel but the Combaticons are one of the only teams I might do bot mode once in a while. I don't have resources to buy two sets of every team so resolving whether Bruticus is more critical than good team members is important to me. Zeta's Bruticus looks killer-filler but the individual bots are so poorly done that right now I'm leaning towards UT's set. The consideration that makes it a bit harder is that UT's set is apparently in the smaller scale. May not be able to decide until both have shown a bit more. All we have for now from UT are Brawl and Swindle; if their Onslaught is a bust I might swing back to Zeta where at least there is also a price inducement.

So am I the only person genuinely impressed with any of these? I think the Vortex looks great - much better than the CW or UT efforts. For me, I guess there are two really important aspects of Vortex - his arms are made out of the tail of the helicopter, and his lower legs and feet are the cockpit. As far as I can see, this is the only Vortex that ticks those boxes, and he poses well as well. The kibble is a downside, but at least it gives him a nice bulky look.

Shame about the rest of the set.

    My opinion:

Onslaught and Brawl are picture-perfect. Swindle and Blast-Off are really close. Vortex is the weakest, but mainly because of the forearm panels hanging everywhere and the stuff hanging off his back. Leg kibble almost always gets a pass from me because I see it as armor. Same goes here.
