I saw it was at 82% earlier and was gonna write, "Oh, so it's like Return of the Jedi or Kung Fu Panda 3 in that it's still really good, just not as good as it's predecessors." I was down with it.

Then I went to RT personally and saw it's up to 95% right now!

Agreed... from these clips and previews YOU FEEL with your heart and gut for these apes and the situation they're in... you don't have to have big explosions to have a blockbuster movie! The GCI is a ton of work to accomplish and capture the characters features with such emotion... love it.
Wasn't sure if I'd try to see this one in theaters but after watching all of these, gotta add it to my 'hope to see it' list.

Goddamn, I wish Weta was working on TF movies. Then, maybe the 'Bots and 'Cons could actually be real, main characters, and mo-capped by actors.

Do we know if this one is the final part of a prequel trilogy, or is it up in the air if there will still be more?

Apparently this is the end of the trilogy that started in Rise, but it does leave the door open for the story to continue should they choose to do so.

    I saw it last night.

These movies are the best trilogy since the original Star Wars. Such an amazing film.

    To answer the question everyone's been asking since the earliest trailers hit in the vaguest way possible;
the story started in Rise ends pretty definitively in this movie. But, you know, these movies have arcs that build into the next one; the original cycle ends in a way that's almost unrecognizable as the same series as the first one. A potential next movie certainly wouldn't have to pull anything as dramatic as Escape from the Planet of the Apes to keep the series going.

Watched it earlier today and what a way to end the trilogy. MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW:

    1. The title of the movie is kind of misleading and even one of the ads.

There's no big battle scene between the apes and humans. Yes, there were battles between apes and humans but none on the scale like LOTR it even Dawn.

Instead the movie seems like a blend of westerns (when the apes ride off to find the Colonel) and prison movies (Bridge on the River Kwai?).

    2. Kinda sad what happened Caesar's family but it does help in character development...shows how 'human' he has become while his counter-part has become beastial.

    3. The virus that killed off most the human population has mutanted, causing humans to regressed. E.g. losing the ability to speak.

    4. The Colonel is actual a rebel of sorts that the main human armies are hunting down. Pretty good twist.

    5. What happened to the humans was indeed poetic justice.

The Colonel got his deserts and remaining major opposing armies were victims of their own hubris.

Such irony...the human race was the cause of its own downfall.

In my mind, more like a reset. Remember there are some guys up in space right now.
What goes up must come down.

Although in future chapters I doubt we'll see the Statue of Liberty sticking out of the sand.

Anyone else try and figure out the geography of these films?
The 1st film started in Frisco, and the second wasn't far from it.

But I'd like to know where each of these events took place.

Am I the only one who thinks they messed up on the order of the titles? Shouldn't the first movie have been called Dawn and the second Rise?

Well, the first movie was about the apes rising against the humans, and the second marked the dawn of a new era. How about that?

Nope. I'm not digging it. I would say first one was the Dawn of the apes evolving. Second one would be them to Rise up and claim their place.

Best movie of the summer. Hands down. It's refreshing to see so many different arches all reaching its perfect ending. Nothing felt rushed or out of place. Well thought out ending with lots of humor and drama along the way.

I get what you mean. What I meant was that
most of us were expecting some epic, grand battle between apes and man but instead the humans handed the planet to the apes by wiping themselves out...intentionally or not...

I'm having mixed feelings about the guys who are still in orbit. I enjoyed the original movie but I would rather the new movies do their own thing.

Yup! His performance was outstanding and riveting...

I concur. They could have gone the 'easy route' and give us battles and battles but they didn't. Instead they chose to make it more character driven.
