Dude, you're a genius! I had tried hitting the head and seeing if the "light piping" lit up, and it doesn't unless you flip the head around. They must have planned for the mask from the beginning to have a feature that only lights up the side that is facing forward, right? It looks sick!

The mutant head inspired face is great, but man the BWII deco looks awful on this mold.

I still wish they would’ve used Primal’s original toy colors as a template for a completely new character instead, like they do it with the Diaclone inspired MP’s.

But hey, at least this made me skip the first repaint very easily and cemented my decision to only buy actual show characters and ignore the rest.

 

I'll be waiting to get a look at Lazorbeak, Buzz Saw and Grimlock before I make a final decision. Though I'm leaning towards just the show characters myself.

 

As awesome as a BW Grimlock might look - Dinobot is probably huge and expensive, so paying that price twice isn't something I look forward to, and the other problem I have is where to put it? I don't have a free cube in my cabinet and I don't think Grimlock would fit in well with the show characters.

So I rather just buy what easily fits together and have each mold be unique. Aside from Tigatron maybe but let's not get into that discussion again  

 

At this stage, I think there's a 99% chance that this is how I'll roll too.

Dammit, Takara gave me two face shield up faces in my box and no lip face. Anyone get two lip faces and wanna trade?

 

Just put in an order for 5500 yen for him, which makes me wonder if he's shelfwarming. I've never seen the original MP dip past 7500 yen, even on the secondary market.

I just got my MP-38 on Saturday and wow, he looks amazing! The matte black finish is very nice in person.

Unfortunately, mine had no weapons rack in the box. Bummer because that's one thing I was really looking forward to. I've emailed HLJ to see if they might have a spare they can send me.

Mandarake. He's second-hand but Japanese collectors tend to be some of the more careful collectors from experience. I've bought figures that were supposedly opened but the contents inside were practically brand new.

There's a few of MP38 on there right now for 7000 yen each. Sometimes dips to 6500 but 5500 is the first I've seen it go that low.

 

So does this come with a banana that is the matrix?

I bought it for 5900 yen after shipping and CDjapan points. Didn't even want it, but too good of a price to pass up.

 

I was originally not interested in this figure but when Lio Convoy was announced I bought 38 to go with him. I’m glad I did. They look fantastic together.
