He turns into a staff? I thought his alt mode returned into a more key looking mode. It there any good reference for his alt mode?
Look man. You seem pretty intent on championing things no one asked you to champion, yourself. Its pretty odd. People are certainly allowed to have dissenting opinions. This being a community of shared interests it is perfectly valid to be disappointed when you can't participate in a communal experience to the degree you'd like. To be expected? Certainly. To be called out as immature or incapable because of it? Not so much.
Omg thank you I kept trying to upload it and it won't let me. But yeah I can see this be able to cut and form the crystals. Tbh I thought it looked more like a key but this could intact look like a forming tool similar to the ones people use to for art like stone, clay, or to cut gems.
Personally, I'm not sold on the alt mode also being a crystal crafter (but I'm also not against it). Whatever Rung's "purpose" is, I'm just not sure his alt mode necessarily has to be a perfect reflection. Like Mirage is a spy because of his invisibility outlier powers, but his alt mode is still just a (fast) rolling vehicle. I just think we still haven't been given enough info to even really suss out what his alt mode is about, and I think it was very intentional that we only saw him creating crystals in bot mode. Totally off topic.... but have we ever "seen" Mirage use his invisibility in IDW?
Ok - alternate theory, what if rungs body was originally an inanimate machine - a relic Nova discovered and that he tested one of his first matrix born sparks on. What better way to hide his secret to cold construction than right in plain sight. The only issue with this theory is that we know Rung has a bright spark (assumed to be a POP) and that he is designated as having been forged at the pious pools (but this could be a lie). In IDW, I have seen Mirage do illusions (made himself look like Bumblebee in the spotlight), but not the traditional invisibility.
Actually - you know what else it kind of looks like... The hilt of Primus' sword And before you say: "It looks more like the matrix" NOTICE - He has 2 swords.
I kinda agree. You're not a hater, you gave it a chance, it's just not for you anymore. On another, kinda-sorta related note, am I the only one that feels like either Robert's writing has changed, or it's not really him writing anymore? I don't know how to describe it, but it doesn't taste like his flavor anymore. Rodimus saying "Bloody hell" is just an example, it doesn't feel like his writing. Hasn't for the last few comics. Maybe I'm just going crazy, who knows?
When people were arguing about the English spellings and accents earlier, I didn't want to jump in because I'm no ethnocentrist and don't really care... ...but I definitely noticed a few things changing in Roberts language during season two: - a gradual shift toward more British English (if that's what you'd call it, sorry if it's not!) - more anthropomorphizing in terminology - different characters voices sounding more and more alike I mean, you can handwave a lot of it away by saying: 1. He had gotten comfortable enough to just speak in his own voice, hence the Brit slang, phrasing, and spelling. 2. The Lost Lighters got temporarily obsessed with terran culture, which I hated, but fine. 3. People who spend so much time together will eventually sound a lot a like And yet, it felt very unnatural to me, and examples always stuck out like a sore robo-digit.
I admit I am curious about Mirage on the Lost Light in general. It makes more sense for Hound being there. As for Rung I believe that his alt mode is red herring he could be monoformer. I am saying the obsession with his alt mode is generated by Roberts. What is a rung anyway?
In story he said his name was Rung like a ladder, so I assume the rungs of a ladder. Also I remember Roberts was planning something with Mirage before but Barber had gotten him in ExRid so he couldn't do it.
It's not just you. Just the other day I was wondering if he'd been replaced by a doppelgänger. But to be honest, if someone no longer like all the comics anymore, if they are done with it, then they probably won't contribute anything good anymore. They better just leave. Again, that's my personal opinion.
Rung like a ladder but I have a hunch it is exactly like a ladder. I am guessing alone Rung's alt mode is useless but supposing it is apart of something like a combiner. Or the duobots, or a data stick, or Rung is a Knight of Cybertron that stayed behind to observed
I used to be so against Unicron showing up in IDW, but now I kind of want it. Bring on the anti-god and let's reset this universe!
To be honest, personally, I don't want to see Megatron come back. In my view, this is where his story was always meant to end, ever since the Functionist Universe was introduced. Megatron can, now, begin his story again; Megatron can carry out his revolution in a different manner. Remember, Megatron originally wrote a treatise on how pacifist dissent and the exchange of ideas could change things (After The Ark: Nominus Prime and The Illusion of Progress). Megatron can carry out his revolution the way his old self wanted; not through force, through peace. Roberts even foreshadowed this in the soundtrack. The theme song for "Dying of the Light" and, arguably one for Megatron himself, was "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, which contains the following lyric; "If I could start again/A million miles away/ I would keep myself/ I would find a way" Megatron has been given that opportunity; to start again and not make the same mistakes. It's a beautiful ending to his story.
And as was mentioned elsewhere, we are getting the easy out with revolutionaries reintroducing the hearts of steel characters as the beast wars characters. This means we can get a new hasbro mandated evil megatron while maintaining all the character development of this megatron.
